1. In a heated AAA Mr. Basketball race, I have to go with:

    -Jeremy Williams, Hamilton

    -Barry Stewart, Shelbyville

    -Maurice Miller, Raleigh Egypt

Williams is a High Major player, and the best player on the State's best team. Though he shares stats with Watkins, Hunter, Strong, and Gilchrist, among others, Williams is a no-brainer for one finalist spot...

Stewart is also a no-brainer selection for me. He is a 23 ppg scorer on a team that has yet to lose to a TN team, currently at 24-2, and ranked as the #1 team in Middle TN. He also steps up in the biggest games, including 28 in a huge win over Brentwood Academy, and 41 over perrennial district champ Columbia. Twilley will take some votes too, but it is amazing what those two have done on a team with only two legitimate scoring threats...

The third spot was a lot tougher. I had to go with Mo Miller, as he is a Willie Kemp-type presence on a team that is 24-1 and also has not lost in TN. Mo doesn't score alot, but for him to have this team arguably better than last year, after losing 4 key seniors (including UAB wing Lawrence Kinnard), Mo gets my nod for the third spot...

    Close:

DeQuan Twilley just misses out here, mainly because it is nearly impossible for teammates to be selected (see last year with Richard and Reginald Delk)... Twilley is having a phenominal year as well. For more, see the rest of Stewart's paragraph...

Jimmy Oden is also on the short list of possible finalists, with great numbers on a great team. But a crushing loss to LaVergne puts him a step behind Twilley. Nonetheless, Oden is having a great year and warrants serious consideration...

I really don't see any other serious candidates in Class AAA. There are many other great players, but right now it's a 5 horse race

I thought Brentwood Acad. was number 1 in the Mid State????

  2. Like it or not, coming from being around an NCAA Final Four and 2 time SEC Championship teams for 4 years, I know that what he says is true about the next level.

Did you see it through as a manager? You talk as if you played or coached those teams. All you did is get water and wash clothes.

Great job last night warriors beating Warren County. Go Warriors and good luck Friday.......you need all the luck and miracles at Siegel.

  3. Been reading all the posts....this is crazy! Sparta has never been this crazy....lol. So am I reading this correctly? Please someone help me.....Harris is leaving? Is Dotson going with him?? We want him back!!! Just curious. If Harris leaves, you better hang on to Dotson. He will do a heck of a job.

Good luck Warriors, great job on Saturday beating Cleveland.

  4. Why is coach at White County basically throwing away his upper classmen and starting the younger guys. They are the only team in the district that has gone backwards and hasn't lost anyone. Really don't understand it

That is what I am trying to say! Mitchell has enough senior talent to do well in the district. He is playing favorites (like Slatton) and basically throwing this year away. That is why we need another coach. I thought this one was a little smarter than the last.

Anyone with a U-Haul number????? If so forward it to Coach Mitchell.

  5. All I am saying is now that the Ramsey kid is back is seems to me that they are coming together. And by looking at Oakland they are winning but they let their leads slip away (except against us). They are prime for the taking. The way we are playing, I just know I do not want to play Siegel in the first round of the district tournament.

By the way does anyone want a coach.......we need to get rid of this one. You can have ours. Does anybody know U-Hauls number???? Go Warriors!!!!

  6. It was good seeing Coach Dotson tonight. It sure would be nice to have him back. I bet he would know who to play in the end of a game, we have too many older players with talent sitting on the bench. It is time for White County to start winning. Coach Mitchell please if you do not know just ask for help.

Good luck to Coach Dotson (come back), and good luck Warriors the rest of the season!!

  7. Stewart is from White County.......but I do say he is a Gribble, and we all know that means..... he will probably be done in a year. Just like his older brother John Tyler Gribble. What a shame too, Stewart seems to be a good athlete too.

So why do White County and Siegel not play? Are they not in the same district like the varsity?? Just curious.

  8. Franklin beat Siegal, end of story. Two good teams, both played very hard, and both had good players. Franklin played smarter and made crucial shots when they needed them the most. Franklin is for real this year because they play smothering defense. Though they are under the radar this year, they are for real.

    Jim Harrick---OUT

Just a question......isn't Siegel missing there best player?? He was on crutches at the Cumberland Co. game. I am sure he would have been a difference.

  9. i agree with ya id love to see our hometown guys try and transfer Middle into atleast a top 25 team wouldnt that be great to see in the DNJ instead of what coach is coming or who stomped us last nite

I beleive the last was the kid that played at Oakland...King(not sure of first name) he turned out to be a big flop!!

  10. Our boys looked terrible this weekend in Crossville, our shooting was terrible. A couple of questions....is Coach Mitchell just going to run everybody in and out or can they stay for any length of time and get some sort of rythm going (looks like Slatten out there runnig everybody in) or does he pull a boy for making a mistake?

Secondly, We watched a little bit of Siegel this weekend, this team looks awesome! And the scarry thing I heard their best player was the kid on crutches sitting on the bench? Oh my is this team that good?

    Good luck Warriors!!!!!

  11. i do not attend siegel but i was at the siegel vs white co game last year at white county and i know for a fact there were over 50 kids there and i dont believe thats to bad for a 2 hour drive on a school night...

The White Co. and Cookeville game produce some great enviroment!!! And by the way a drive to Siegel or any Murfreesboro school doesn't take 2 hours....unless you are on horse and buggy. Go Warriors!!!!!

  12. lol ill try the friendly approach... because of my familys struggles with money, i had to get a job so that i could drive myself to school everyday. So I used to play football and basketball but cant anymore because i work so much... The only night i get to get out and have some fun is friday night at the football games, and soon i will tyr and work bball into my schedule too. So for me to sit and chant is the one thing that makes my week worth it. So i guess ill keep the name if thats fine with you. And 2p. if its gonna make you happy to think that you win then ok man take it, im tired of arguing with an adult about his stupid high school.

Everyone is talking about the past...ok there is only one and I repeat one team in District 7AAA that has won a basketball state championship.......WHITE COUNTY and not only have they won but the did it in back to back years. So when someone can come even close, then talk about the past. You boys need to stay on the subject at hand and that is this up coming season!!!! GO WARRIORS

  13. I do know that he has inquired about transferring but at this point thats all...nothing set in stone

I did hear today that John Tyler has got his paper work started to transfer to Siegel. Does anyone see him playing much there? Did Siegel loose anyone?? White County sure could use him this year. I guess another loosing season is in is on the way! I wish Todd Hess we come back and take the boys!!!!!

  14. Would Gribble be eligible at either school? I heard that he didn't attend school regularly last year. Dotson was not seriously considered to stay at White County in any capacity when Slatten left. Also I don't think he got along with Gribble that well anyway.

Thank you for the information. I did not even know the Coach Dotson was at Siegel. Now that does makes sense about John Tyler heading to Siegel, I wish him all the luck, but I can say for Coach Dotson was that he was wanted by not only the parents but the players as well. I wish he would have stayed. But Siegel, our loss is definetly your gain. I also know that if it wasn't for Coach Dotson that not only would have Jon Tyler but the rest of the players would have quit the team.So I am sure the Dotson and Gribble have a great rerlationship.

  15. Oh no! He is back! Will he be a distraction like last season? Will the coach now baby him like the one did last year? I hope not. I am in no way in favor in him coming back and causing distractions! It seems to me he needs to spend time in the classroom and not on the gym floor. Go Warriors.........the ones that have been there all year!

  16. It seems to me, it would be a shame to let Gribble dress out much less play. It is like last season all over again.... Gribble getting special attention from the head coach! When will this ever end... I know I guess after next year when he graduates! Good luck Warriors!

  17. does he not know who to start

I want to ask the same question........the boys can not seem to get in any rythm. It seems to be like last year with the guy we had coaching (not saying names) he didn't seem to know what to do either! Can someone please call Coach Hess and see if he would please come back and fix this mess!!

  18. Well this is bad news for the kid. He could have been a very special player. However it is still funny how that you mentioned that Slatten pampered him because all we heard in the stands last year was why won't Slatten start him or play him more. He was eventually dismissed last year from what I understand because he got into it with Dotson. From what I have heard from people at school is that he was only dismissed after being sent into ISS several times this year and eventually to alternative school. What about J.J. is he going to be eligible after Christmas? AND how much impact have the sophmores Jolley, Crain and Taylor had ? It seems that without them they would have struggled.

All I know is that they did pamper him and it was obvious from the stands, but anybody that had a player associated with the team knew the Dodson was the main reason why most of the players last year stayed on the team. We only wish he was still around the guys.

By the way does anybody know where Slatten and Dodson are? Are the still coaching and where?? Thanks for all the help.

  19. I hear he will not be able to play (if he is still on the team) until school starts back because of exams are not until school resumes. So he would still miss out on all the Christmas tournaments. Maybe he should transfer to were ever Slatten and Dodson are. They catered to him....why stop!
