  1. The umpires didn't lose the game for Tullahoma Wed night.
  2. Friday, Tullahoma travels to Walker Valley and Riverdale hosts Warren Co.
  3. Tulllahoma won the 2nd game 10-0 and will host Siegal next Monday night in Region play, probably at 6pm. Columbia will travel to Riverdale.
  4. I don't know who "Hillrider" is either, but that was a ridiculous post, I agree. I checked some earlier posts that he made and they all concerned soccer.
  5. Tulllahoma could manage only 3 hits off Provy of Columbia, but it was just enough to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st and those were the only 2 runs in the game. It was a tight, tense game, much like the game in Columbia earlier in the season. The 2nd game was a losers bracket game between Lincoln Co and Shelbyville. The winner of that game will play Columbia Tuesday night with a Region berth on the line. Despite getting no hits, Columbia got some runners in scoring position in the game, but couldn't get the key hit to score the runs. Lincoln Co has made some improvements on their baseball field and it looked really good. Its good to see Coach Tate back at Lincoln Co.
  6. I saw the score that Shelbyville beat Franklin Co 13-8 but I didn't see a score on the Lawrence Co-Lincoln game.
  7. I guess Sat, Lincoln Co plays Lawrence Co and Shelbyville plays Franklin Co with the loser being eliminated. I believe Tullahoma plays Columbia Monday at 4pm at Lincoln Co.
  8. I was mistaken David. Lincoln Co and Shelbyville were not eliminated, but will play each other Sat, I think. I wish someone would post a bracket.
  9. Fridays action in the district tourney will have Tullahoma hosting Franklin Co at 6pm and Columbia hosting Lawrence Co, probably at 4pm. Lincoln Co and Shelbyville were eliminated Thurs night.
  10. Tullahoma has not fared so well after the sweep of Columbia. Friday nite THS lost to #2 ranked Mt Juliet 6-3 at Grider and on the road to Ooltewah Sat 13-1 in 5 innings.
  11. New Guy, don't forget us umpires and game officials have to deal with Super Dad, but we if we get fed up with him, we can tell him to hit the road.
  12. I know quite a bit about Friendship Christian. The school has an excellent athletic dept. I've umpired there several times in baseball and it seems all their sports programs excel. The school is kinda out in the middle of nowhere, but its a beautiful campus and I've always enjoyed going there.
  13. All I wanted to know was how many pitches he threw. I don't think I said anything about that being too many pitches for him. That's not for me to say anyway. His dad Travis knows what his kids can do and can't do. Tullahoma ended up with a sweep of Columbia with a 15-4 win against the Lions tonite at Tullahoma. Brad Roepke hit a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 6th inning to end the game. Tullahoma hit the ball well tonite, but the Lions also made lots of errors. I know Coach Pickle wasn't a happy camper. The game tonite didn't have all the suspense of Tuesday's game, but it still was a good win for the Cats to finish the district schedule undefeated. Tullahoma finished 10-0 in district play and the Lions finished 7-3. The Cats overall record is now 22-7. Tullahoma will host perenial state power Mt Juliet Friday night at Grider Stadium at 5:30pm.
  14. I wanted to congratulate Coach Chase Jones on being voted Coach of the Year. He does an outstanding job year in and year out with that program. With that being said, the rumor going around here is that he may lose his job and that some folks are upset in Manchester with Coach Jones. I've heard everything from a Coffee Co player throwing his bat over the fence at a road game and the coach getting home and running the team afterwards and some players refusing to run and being kicked off the team to players recording his conversation with them without his knowledge and playing it back to a board member. Its all hearsay for me, but I will say this, Coach Jones does a heck of a job with that program and is the most underated coach in our area. I have a lot of respect for him and what he does and so does everyone else that I know and I know lots of people in baseball. I hope there are enough level headed people in Coffee Co that realize that firing him would be a mistake. Good luck Coach.
  15. I agree with the previous two posters. It was an excellent game by both teams and Stone and Justice Sheffield threw well. The plate umpire, I thought, did an excellent job behind the plate, but the base umpire had several questionable calls and most of them, not all, went in favor of the Lions. The younger Sheffield is only a sophomore, but pitched like a senior today. I was really impressed and he seemed to throw just as hard in the 7th inning, as he did earlier in the game. He struck out 13 batters, but I don't know his pitch count. His older brother Jordan made the play of the game early, throwing out a Columbia batter at the plate from his shortstop position. Later on, the Lions had runners at 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out and could score only 1 run. Late in the game, the Charboneau kid from THS, had a clutch hit with 2 outs, to drive in the tying run and Tullahoma scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th for the 4-1 win. Congratulations to Coach White and the team for winning the regular season title and getting the top seed in the umcoming District 8AAA tournament. These two teams will play Wed nite at Grider, but the game won't mean as much as it could have. I'm sure Columbia and Tullahoma will face each other again in the postseason and its a whole season when the playoffs begin. Everyone knows what a good job Coach Pickle does every year, but I thought Coach White has done a great job with this years Tullahoma team. I wish both teams well in the postseason.
  16. Both teams have outstanding pitching. Whomever can get the clutch hit and make the fewest mistakes should win. There should be plenty of college and professional scouts in attendence.
  17. Tullahoma beat Franklin Co Wed night 4-0 to remain undefeated in District 8AAA. The Tuesday game was rained out. I think they will play Thursday night in Winchester. Justus Sheffield pitched 6 2/3 tonite with Justin Brown getting the final out. Hoover pitched for the Rebels. With the win, the Cats are guaranteed at least a 2nd place finish in the regular season.
  18. Does anyone know if the game has been rained out?
  19. I've heard from several people that the Charboneau kid is doing good. I'm not sure if he was released to play today.
  20. The scoreboard showed that Columbia beat Lincoln Co 12-11 Tuesday night and Franklin Co won at Shelbyville 8-4. Tullahoma and Lawrence Co cancelled their game in the 1st inning after a THS player had a seizure. Tullahoma will play a DH at Lawrence Co Wed beginning at 4pm.
