  1. I understand that there are 5 or 6 bids to the national tournament in this age group.

Since there were like 43, 14U Teams registered in the State.

Then the Top 4 Advance to the Div. I Nationals

Then the bottom 4 advance to the Div. II Nationals

Due to the success the Stallions had last year, they earned an automatic berth to the Div. I Nationals already.

So the 14U breaks down like this.

5 Bids to DIV. I Nationals

3 Bids to DIV. II Nationals

That's not including what other teams may have earned this year in National Qualifiers. :)

  2. Easy, now folks. Remember the rankings are an opinion. They are not views reflected by everyone. No need to get nasty. Let's just discuss the rankings, and not have a riot. :)

Of the teams Listed I've seen only the TN Thunder play, and if they can get Bishop to hit some free throws they might have a chance to climb those rankings.

    Can't we all get along?

  4. The All-Tournament team was selected by an independent panel of one person from the Knoxville Jazz organization. If I remember correctly: Elite had 2, Top Guns had 2, Lightning had 1, and KAYA had 1.

I'm not sure how the independent panel of 1 person was able to travel to 3 gyms and see all 12 teams equally.

I can say they did it in 13U, and every team was represented but 1.

If you have any complaints I'd email the Tournament Director and Knoxville Jazz president at: KnoxvilleJazz@aol.com. Especially those people who didn't like the officiating. Those with officiating concerns should email the President of the Jazz, and call Mr. Anderson in Memphis.

  5. Truthfully, we really didn't have to press. When you press sometimes you pick up silly fouls, and the officials know you are more aggressive. We could have pressed, but when you press your players wear down quicker.

I was just curious to why they didn't press because they play so well that way. It is when they are at their best!

  6. FLMS since your such an exper how come your Fort Loudoun Magics didn't register and play in the substate. With your wealth of coaching knowledge sounds like you all could have handled everyone in the tournament handily.

the elite wasn't coached very well. Yes you do try to atack the middle of the box but he stood there and couldn't get the ball. No changes were made at half time and all the elite did was take one pass and shoot the three the rest of the game. they went from winning to losing by 30 in three qtrs because a failure to adjust. I was shocked however that kaya dosen't ply any type of pressure. tey had far and away the best athletes and just set there in a 2-3 zone the entire tournament. At statethey will have to do more when they face teams with the same type of ability. The 2-3 mayhave been used to rest the players but they are so deep rest should not be an issue. Yes hey won the tournament due to ability but more pressure needs to be used for them to advance at state.

  7. Shooter5 did you play?

14 & U Eastern Substate (Tournament Record in Parenthesis)

    #1 KAYA (5-0)

    #2 Top Guns (3-2)

    #3 Nashville Elite (3-2)

    #4 Knoxville Lightning (2-3)

    #5 Tri-Cities Eagles (2-1) and Knoxville Jazz (2-1)

#7 Knoxville Cagers (1-2) and Tennessee Blaze (1-2)

    #9 Knoxville Lakers (1-2) and Cleveland All-Stars (1-2)

#10 Nashville Pacesetters (0-3) and Strawberry Plains Plainsmen (0-3)

  8. First things first. Congratulations to my guys on a playing hard this tournament. No matter what anybody says on this message board, we perservered through the trials and tribulations of the tournament and won it (+71).

The referring in the tournament overall was ok, except for one particular ref. I plan on calling in on him and if you need to do the same please email me and I will give you his name (my email aaucoach13@comcast.net). In my opinion of the games I saw, only the Tri-Cities Eagles deserve a gripe, they got SHAFTED in their final game against the Lightning.

As for as the Top Guns you got beat. You people stood there and made excuses on why you lost to the Nashville Elite (Who we soundly beat by 22).

I'm not going to get on here and bicker with anybody, but our motto is "GO HARD, OR GO HOME" as some fans so graciously pointed out on our girls Shooting shirts.

I'd also like to Congratulate the KAYA Lady Stingers 13 & Under who rolled in their championship game by 30.

I will definately agree with the officiating in this tournament as the officials were going to make certain that a knoxville team won, as they did, i take nothing away from KAYA as they played hard and definately deserved the win, however the calls made not only during the game but especially in overtime was very very questionable. #32 for the Top Guns was fouled with 1 sec to go that would have put him on the line for two shots with the score tied at the end of regulation but they acted like it never happened, and i mean it was a blatant foul that everyone seen, how do these guys get to officiate these games, it was obvious to everyone that they knew the parents from the KAYA team, laughing and joking around with them and one of the officials that refereed the games at Bearden was sitting with the parents of KAYA, whats up with that? How do you get these hometown refs for such an important game? Well nothing we can do about it right now but i hope we get them in Tullahoma as the outcome with be different without that home cookin!
