Friday Nite Lites DII style with JP2 v Father Ryan. Great atmosphere, great game, great players played a great game and great tailgating. At the end of the day, the better team won in a hard fought battle.
Well done Irish. A game for the ages. A game for Kevin Z.

Little bit of history tonite in Brentwood. Brentwood Middle beat Brentwood Academy- first defeat for BA middle in 3 years. Great team effort by a middle school team that may be one of the best in the city.
-
Oakland beat Hillsboro in overtime- great game. Ryan is down by 9 with 1:20 and wins on last second shot by Jeff DeGrauw. Rematch with Ryan and Oakland tomorow- chance for the Irish to avenge their only loss of the year.
-
Fr. Ryan is not only 8-0 but has had several impressive come-from-behind wins on the road in Memphis.
-
Daniel2023, you need to know that Ryan beat both CBHS and MUS last weekend. Two consecutive weekends in Memphis and 4 wins- not a bad start for the Irish. Wish a game with Harding was on the schedule- they seem to be a good team.

We didn't know Brandon got hurt- I'm sure it was on a hustle play. Glad to hear he's doing fine and will be returning soon. Hope Thanksgiving goes well for all the Harriford's.

is danny meek playing for CHS this year?

I've heard from a Vandy "insider" that Julian is doing very good and may become the best rebounder on the team. Belief is that he can become a legit SEC player. Mario is being Mario. Some upperclassman are a little miffed at his attitude. For example, he makes a bad throw and then gives a look to the player he thinks should have caught the ball. Sounds like he needs to chill and accept that he's no longer the star- only one part of an SEC team. He'll learn.

Two players to watch out for this year are Cole Rose and Patrick Parker. Both are 6'3'' guards from BGA. Most people have never heard of them because Cole was overshadowed by Todd Soderquist and Patrick Parker lost a year of eligibility due to changing schools. Previosly, he played at Brentwood High where he started at point guard since freshman year. Both of these seniors can fill it up from outside, Rose having one of the quickest releases I have ever possibly seen. Watch out for Parker scoring inside, his strength and quickness allow him to get to the basket whenever he so desires, and his finesse will put up big numbers this year. The team work these players have formed will make them hard to stop.

Every argument for D1 being superior to D2 says "the best PLAYERS are in D1". That may be but it's TEAMS, not players, that count and that's what sets D2 apart from D1. D2 schools usually play great team ball and that is why the elite D2 teams will beat the elite D1 teams more often than they lose.
This same argument is why Doc Shelton is such a great D1 coach even though he doesn't have the quality of athletes as most other metro Nashville schools.

like your vote for Brandon Harriford. Not many people are talking about him but hey will be by the end of the season. He another quality player from the Music City Magic.

What about a coach wbo's won two state championships in the last 5 years- Doug Bontrager at Father Ryan. Seems every review of any of his teams includes the phrase "well coached and hard working".

hoops317, I'm talking about the Thunder 17s.

You're right, the Hawks would, and did, loose to Memphis YOMCA. Memphis was the class of the state tournament and I'm guessing they finished #1. The Hawks played 4 quarters and never quit. The point you choose to ignore is that Gomab showed no respect to the Hawks and was blinded by a bunch of "all-stars" who were masquerading as a "team" and failed big time. The Thunder is a joke- a bunch of kids who worry about head bands, dunks and braded hair more than playing the game as a team and winning as a team. When they played Memphis their players quit and stopped playing. No one ran the floor. No one played defense. Players on the bench were pouting like a bunch of babies. THEY QUIT! There's nothing worst any athlete can do. Time to tear the Thunder apart and start over.
