You missed the point. It was stated that all of the teams did bad. That was incorrect.

As far as research goes, I have done mine: East Hickman in all sports have not done well to this point, ....

Volleyball. Volleyball has done fairly well. I'm just saying not ALL the sports are doing bad.

I heard from my neighbor's son that coach Jones has resigned. Is this true? Personally I hope it is. Not that I htink he is a bad coach, but I think he is too tough on our boys. (based on my neighbor's son who I will not mention)

As most know by now, Coach Eric Swenson went home to the Huntingdon Mustangs. After leading Hickman County to their best record since at least the 80's, the Bulldogs are looking for a coach that wants to continue our progress towards the State Championship. Lofty goals, but why play if you don't want to win?

Hickman County is coming off a season with an overall record of 11-2. They reached the third round of the playoffs for the first time.

I have used TurboStats for the last three years. It is very good, the one thing about that program is it does not give a good play by play report.

 

I have seen Digital Scout and it works a lot like TurboStats, but has better reports from what I have seen.

Thank you! I couldn't remember Digital Scout's name for anything. I'll look at both packages.

We're looking for scoring software to run on laptop. Windows based and not DOS. Game summaries, play-by-play, half time stats, and so on.

What are some good packages out there?

All I can say is thank goodness we're not in AAA anymore. The visiting crowds were awful. Sometimes there would be only 10. Except for Brentwood. That rivalry will be missed.

I know Coach Barrett is fired up and ready to get Hickman County pointed in the right direction. It'll be nice to have a full gym and watching two great teams playing for the Dawgs!

PLEASE ! call your school board member.......... Dr. Nash forced the East School to play a Varsity Schedule, it was not by choice. there was no choice given, So you all are very misinformed. It was decided by NASH ! This is a FACT.

Are you sure that when it was decided that EHHS was to be a school four grades that didn't have something to do with it? The parents probably wanted a graduation, varsity sports and everything that comes with being a school with fours grades. You might do a little research before popping off.

Look folks, this is the way it is. They should have done like the Williamson County schools and started with the 9th and 10th graders. Left the 11th and 12th at HCHS. HCHS would've dropped to AAA, EHHS would have begun building their program the JV level games. This system works. Ravenwood was a powerhouse their first year with seniors, Indy has played very well. And Ensworth is a powerhouse in a powerhouse conference. But, they didn't and this is the hand dealt.

EHHS will suffer this year. They will play better next year. Coach Jones has his head on right and is removing the bad eggs. As the EHMS kids move up, he will get better. They already know what to do. Coach Swenson has to retrain his freshmen on how to play the game, right.

Yes, JuniorPro can be seen a barometer. If the middle schools were to continue what JrPro teaches it would be great. Lewis County does and it seems to work ok for them. You have to have a feeder system for it to work. JrPro>Middle School>High School. All levels of coaches must work together, with the high school coach being the guiding force at all levels.

The big problem is the parents. First game of the year at EHHS. I saw blue parents throw stuff at red students. Believe it or not, these kids are friends. I then saw a game at HCHS. Kids wearing East shirts every where. It was great to see that the friends are still friends despite the parents.

How will tonight go? The game won't be much to watch. At least by the history of this season. HCHS will try to get up to a 35 point lead and let off and try to let the mercy rule take over. I hope the parents on both sides act right and respect the new stadium. It's really nice. Treat everyone with respect, no matter what color they are wearing.

I'd like to see both teams get together after the game at the 50 yard line. THAT, would be classy.

I really like that website. I wish more schools had full timeoperated websites. I would love to be able to go to a website to look up rosters of unknown teams, stats to know who to watch, and in-sight on my favorite players male and female.

I would like to talk to some of the coaches in my area about websites. Please let me know where, how and any details about the website.

I use Joomla. It is a FREE webserver that is hosted on a server that must be able to host MySQL and PHP, also FREE. I do belong to a club that sells templates for Joomla but there are FREE templates out there.

Once the Joomla site is setup, it's as easy as submitting a Word document. It did take a bit to get everything where I wanted it, but now most of it is automated. Articles published on the front page can come and go by schedule. The same with the "Today's Game" and the "Next Game" modules.

There are hosts out there that specialize in Joomla. Some are VERY reasonable. I pay about $10 a month but I have several sites and more storage space than I'll ever need.

Very professional site, I might like to ask you some tips later. What do the coaches think about it? I've thought about starting one for my daughter's team, but I'm afraid her coach doesn't want to put a lot of info out there for other teams.

I work for the school system.

In other sites I've been involved with, some coaches want every detail on the site. Others, barely want a roster. Afraid of scouting. Teams trade video anyway, so rosters and such aren't giving anything away. I'm not sure I'd want to contain every detail and tendency on the team, but point totals may not be bad.

I'll wait and see what our coach wants on the site as far as stats.

By my count and by using the latest TSSAA numbers, here's what it would be if they started new classes for the 2007-2008 school year. The private school numbers are their multiplier figures. Some of the numbers like Sequatchie, Rhea and Ooltewah are already at least 100 short. This isn't counting some new schools and teams about to start, schools voluntarily moving up and isn't counting the rule where a private school can move only one class per classification period even with a multiplier. I don't see why they can't still have two-year periods the way it used to be

In Hickman County's case, this number is not close. HCHS and East Hickman both have around 600 or so students. These must be old numbers.

It wasnt a pouting stint, but there is definelty a few psychos (parents) in the stands....... one of them I am sure is the SUPER DAD who tells the stories back when he played ball for Hickman county....... I wish they could ban that jerk and his screaming mad wife from the games......it would be a whole lot more peaceful. All he is doing is undermining the whole thing I wish it would come to a head so they can move on. Coach is doing a good job, I personally would change a few things that have not worked at all, but he is doing fine.

Well, that narrowed it down. I had my short list down to three but that convinced me of who it probably was.

Who all moved from Hickman County to East Hickman?

First, I've been around the sports enough to know that the coaches were playing the talented kids. No matter what area they are from. I know one year a bunch of East kids didn't make the team because they weren't coming to tryouts.

As a fan of the Dawgs, you need to know that most of the coaches in the past couple of years were not from Hickman County. Let's take football. Coach Swenson had no clue if a kid was from Lyles or Grinders Switch. He played the best players.

If a footballer from East stayed in Centerville, it was because of the coach. He is a great coach AND a great person. One of the nicest there is.

Oh, the "key" player is originally from Centerville. Grandparents, parents, ...

Baseball appears to have lost the most to East in terms of manpower. I have my opinion on why, but I'm keeping that to myself.

No let's take school spirit wear. You have got to hand it to East. They let teachers and staff were their jerseys on game day. It awesome to see all that blue all over the school. You can even but EHHS shirts over in Dickson. As far as school apparel, EHHS is miles above HCHS.

Straight school spirit is split down the middle. Both love their school. It's a fun place to be on Fridays.

In a couple of years things will even out. Both schools will have about the same numbers in talent. Then it come out which school is better. HCHS should beat EHHS in football this year. East has several players that haven't played or haven't for a couple of years. It'll take a couple of years for their new system to settle in and produce wins.

The worst thing that can happen in Hickman County, is "hating" an area, team or school because they wear Red or Blue. In the end, it's all Hickman County, be it Centerville or Lyles. As long as a team with "Hickman" in the name wins, it's all good.

Hickman County will ride to all thier victories on the coat tails of Atheletes from EAST HICKMAN , Any success they had ( Becky Myatt) was on the backs of East Atheletes. Centerville may win this years meeting, ( between East and Centerville) but it is all downhill from there for the Bulldogs. That sophmore Class that Matt Jones has is shocking to say the least, from what i can tell about 70% of the team is this sophmore class, 20% is Freshman , 7% are Juniors and I think they have 1 or 2 Seniors on the team. I wish they would have played a JV Schedule this year , but this will be Centervilles only chance they will have to beat East Hickman probably ever, from here on out. Matt Jones is 100% correct that the East Atheletes were treated like second rate citizens, over the History of the School. That is why this rivalry will be so intense for the next few years. Swenson even stated to the paper in the article you are talking about, that East will be a force in the region, I heard that coach Swenson is getting off the sinking ship, after this year. BASKETBALL will be a different story, East will destroy Hickman county this year and from here on out, they dont have a prayer. All those kids that have been getting shunned, and sitting the bench while the lesser athletes played to appease the influential daddies , will be playing with a vengance, payback time .

Why did a lot of starters stay at HC and the ones that played seldom go to EHHS? That's a bunch of bunk about not getting to play because of their housing location. Talent level. When the girls won the state, it was because of East players. Do you really think a coach would have benched them because of their former middle school? In baseball a few years back, no East kid made the team because they didn't go to tryouts but one day out of three. The four kids that made the team went all three days. If they didn't know about practice, it was because they either didn't read the paper or listen to the school announcements.

I was at a meeting all day yesterday so I haven't heard about Apps. I will be meeting with the principal today over Technology type stuff at the new school. Both HS's in Hickman County will be AA. The feeder schools are

East Hickman Middle >> East Hickman High

Hickman Co. Middle >> Hickman Co. High

We only have two of each level of school so our feeder system is easy. If you go to our website, you can click on the Attendance Zone link on the right to get an idea of who will populate the new school. That map only shows the northeast corner of the county.
