  1. HA HA! You get my point. I understand that OR wants to make a big splash but it is important for them to hire a coach that will be there longterm. That is why a young coach might be in their best interest. What do you think about Coach Jones?

You must be a member of the OS family? Is Wright interested in the job? He would be a tremendous fit.

I am from OS, but I'm also a really good friend of Todd's. I think there's a lot of reasons why he'd be interested in the job. I'm sure he'll have his day to interview for it.

If I were him, I'd be interested in talking about the job with the AD. I think it'd be a tough decision to make though. Sometimes going home can be tough even though I believe he'd do a great job. I think he'll have a good D-2 job soon if he keeps on his current pace. The pay of a good D-2 job and the ORHS job should be pretty close. If that's the case, I'd rather coach college ball ,have more free time, not have to teach classes, or deal with parents. That's just me though. Todd loves everything about Oak Ridge , so who knows. I will say this, if Todd got that job, I believe he'd be there until the day he retires. He's probably the best fit of the names I've heard tossed around.

What do you think etcoach? What would you do? If you were coach at Maryville College, would you give it up to return to William Bount to coach and teach (Assuming you actually liked being a head coach and liked the pay increase). Let's assume that no media positions are available and that the income from that doesn't exist.

  2. Would you two let it go? Both are two very different style players, on two very different teams, in two very different Districts, Regions, & Classifications. Both of them have done what their teams needed and were very successful. Can't you let both of them enjoy what they've been able to do and quit comparing them. Laura and Kayla are friends, their family's are friends, and both have watched each other be successful at different levels.

  3. You only need to read what you wrote to understand why no fans applauded OS, "well everyone better get use to os in that district and them winning it", your comments are trypical of OS Fans and people dont like arragonace!. I'm from Kingston and I actually enjoy watching the OS Girls play, they are a very good basketball team, however, the OS Fans should learn a little bit about being gracious winnners instead of trying to force feed their teams ability down peoples throat. I've never seen a group of fans that get so upset about their team not getting respect or given credit for their success. Oliver Springs records speaks for itself, the fans dont need to act like they do.

Give me a break. It probably wasn't all that long ago when Kingston girls used to beat OS all the time and you guys were the same way. When I was at OS in the mid-90's, our girls weren't that good. Think they finished at the bottom of the district several times. I'm not on here bragging about OS all the time and being arrogant. Fact of the matter is that most OS fans are very happy the team has been doing well and we hope it continues. We've all dealt with being one of the worst teams at some point and now we enjoy being one of the best. Don't try to group all fans into one particular stereotype. There's always a few fans that go a little bit further than others. Fact is, we've(most) always clapped and been happy for other teams when they've beat us in any sport. We may not like losing, but our fans don't show dissrespect toward other teams players because we get mad at what a few parents say.

  4. I get tired of people always accusing successful programs of recruiting. It is possible for a middle to supply enough talent to lead a high school program to a lot of victories over the course of a few years. That success is easily enough to draw people who want to be sucessful and play for a winning team. That's all that's going on at OS right now. Coach Wright has had some great teams the past few years with no transfers and now people want to start being part of that winning tradition and have a chance to go play college ball somewhere. It's not that uncommon for this to happen. Look at what programs such as Shelbyville, Jackson Co., and Livingston Academy. These coaches are involved in great AAU programs and the girls want to play for them in high school too. It's rediculous to always start screaming "Recruiting" once things are going good. It's my belief that talent comes in cycles and there will be down years. If there are no down years, then I'd start having some doubts. Anybody who knows anything about Oliver Springs will tell you that girls program had a lot of bad years before things started getting better.

  5. Just can't help yourself can you! Your just as sure your gonna win it all as GC was. I don't think we played our best basketball yesterday, and look for us to step it up. If we play like we dd yesterday LA will win, but i expect our girls to pick it up a little. Look forward to a good game.

    GO OS

  6. LA will win this game by 10+, OS may have pushed them to the line but Coach Smith will have them ready for them today! Note** Beech didn't have to score much yesterday, her presence scared Gibson Co.!

All LA has to do is make the Hall girl do it all, make her feel like everyone is guarded and she will force everything! back-off her, stay close to everyone else; (Don't get beat back door though!) The Hall girl will go right then hesitate and go right as fast as possible hoping to get fouled!

So to stop her play back with your arms spread wide playing straight up don't turn her, let her act like she is going right but when she hesitates GO FOR THE STEAL WITH YOUR LEFT HAND!! If you start to get it or make her work hard she gets mad and gets out of sink and the game is all ready for you to take home LA!!!

    GOOD LUCK LA! GO Beech!!

From your post, it sounds like your an expert in stopping Laura Hall and the rest of the Bobcats. You need to find a top notch coaching job if you don't have one already. If stopping our girls is simply that easy, why are we still playing? Why haven't other teams ended our season yet?

I'm not taking anything away from LA. They're a great team that i know our girls like and respect. How exactly does Hall get out of sink? Doesn't she avg 27ppg aginst LA. I watched the x-mas tournament game against you guys and i never saw her get out of sink. Whoever wants this game better hit the boards on offense and defense and get some second chance points. I'll say that OS will have a very difficult time winning if LA shoots the ball 20+ more times like Cheatham Co. did yesteday. I like our chances..

    Go Lady Bobcats....

Sorry knownothing. Accidently posted under your name. I forgot to log you out and log myself in.

    That post was my opinion.

  7. I think it's going to be a great game. Both teams match up pretty well and have played well against each other. I agree with Goose that rebounding is gonna be a huge key for whoever wins tomorrow. I thought our team played well today and did a good job to get the game tied at the half. LA was very impressive against GC.

I expect nothing else than a game played down to the wire. I think the final score will be within 5 points. Either team is capable of winning. It really depends who steps up for each team.

    Go Lady Bobcats....

  8. I didn't really change my mind. I just don't think I should have posted. There's no point in trying to argue or make each player look worse than the other one. They are two great players who i look to be sucessful at the next level.

This is Cait's thread, so Laura's name probably shouldn't have been brought up in the first place. Whoever even brought up Laura's name was just looking to start a arguement, and i don't think that's fair to either of the girls.

I wasn't drunk, I just didn't want to get involved in all that. Should have thought first.

  9. I don't think it would even be close. No offense to Hall because she's a GREAT point guard, but she just can't compete with one of the best players in the nation. Not many in the state can though. Cait is the best point guard in the state, hands down.

Can't compete, your either not that smart or just some dumb high schooler who makes rediculous comments. How is Cait soo much better? Is it because she averages more points a game? It doesn't matter what the final stat line is. Both players are capable of scoring 30-40 on any given night. Don't compare Cait's stats to Hall's this year. Compare sophmore years, then post on here again. Hall's teammates have really stepped it up this year and she's not had to do as much.

Let me say, I'm not trying to take anything away from Cait. She's a great player, no doubt and has great years ahead. All I'm saying is, don't have such a short memory. Hall's sophmore year stats speak for themselves, and just because her stats for this year are a little lower doesn't mean she's gotten worse or can't compete. Give me a break.

  10. Goose,

I have to disagree. OS is a very good team' but Laura Hall is a great player. You must either outscore OS which has happened in most of their losses this yearor stop Hall. For teams that do not have the scorers that OS has, they must focus on stopping Laura Hall. I know all the mommies and daddies think their girls are as good as Hall, but the fact is she makes all of them better. Hall is one of the best players to come through this area in a long time. They key to beating OS is stopping Hall unless you have the athletes to outscore them.

Mazy, i think you might be misunderstanding Goose. Laura doesn't have to score 20 for us to win, and thats what Goose is saying. You say teams have to stop Laura, but what do you mean by that. She's gonna play good defense, and she's gonna get her teammates some good lucks and easy shots. I don't think your gonna stop her from doing those things. As far as scoring, if it's there, she'll take it. If not, someone will have to step up. It didnt happen when we needed it last night, but I think the other girls are going to step up like they have in the other games. Kara did a good job last night. We just needed some more baskets by people in the 3rd quarter when Seymour distanced themselves from us. Our girls will step up. They know what they have to do and they will. Laura's game isn't centered around getting 25-30 pts. She takes what she's given and that's what makes it tough to beat us. I think she'd rather get everyone involved rather than doing it all herslef
