Well I went and watched the scrimmage against Central tonight. Good thing there is still some time left for practice. It gives them plenty of opportunity to learn how to hold onto the ball, I think I counted 5 fumbles. Outside of the many fumbles we looked pretty good. Defense held in some tough spots because of the fumbles. We ran the ball well at times and we passed well at times. We had a few guys sitting this one out and got a couple more dinged up but we have a little more depth and they got some good experience tonight.
Also a good thing the Refs got some practice tonight, they needed it. Speed of the game takes some getting use too.
And yes there are some guys that just might gain Legend status this year.
they will win the 2AA state this year BOOK it.

Royce you are not the one pouring water. You have valid points.

Hey Guys,
In Chattanooga this is a big thing that kids that did not try are already talking about trying next year.
The state of Tennessee is NOT being highly recruited now, maybe this will help. As for as all the talk about getting recruited by high schools just have a winning program they won"t leave.
Money for High School all-star games they are all sponsored. You can't pick kids like you do in high schools
middle school is not that organized. I think it was sent out to coaches to recommend players. Nothing in this world is perfect, but at least this is something different. Quit pouring water on it and just pray that it go good for the kids. Check it out in four years, all good things started somewhere internet, recruiting services, TV, computers, electricity. people bad mouth those things also, lets Pray that God takes care of the kids and it turns out to be a positive thing. My son did not make it, but he still had a great time while seeing other players.
Thanks

I guess we keep finding out why Tennessee is so far behind other states in football. If it is something diffferent it must be bad. Give the people that put this on credit for trying something to get kids names out early. I don't think 8th graders make decisions on where they go to school PARENTS do. If you want to keep this recruiting down, WIN. Lets see in four years if this helps get kids looked at by colleges down the road. Until then ask yourself why T$$AA has 8 state champs, private is different from public. Why we pay 50% of gate to T$$AA of gate.If you are really in touch with high school sports, some coaches do not put thier players out.The athletes in Tennessee are just as good as other states but other states take football alot more serious than Tennessee. I have a friend that coaches in LA he does NOT teach but he does work at the school. Be positive and support the kids, then grade this in four years. Fishy, yes lets no help kids.

Howard plays good defense. Tyner has the Cooper kid coming back, that will make them better. Fulton is loaded

who won?
-
Bucs 35
DCA 7
-
I am surprised that Sequatchie County played Tyner to a 4 touchdown game. I thought it would end up something like 49-7. You just can't compare scores in high school football. Goodluck next week.
Did they have players out?

7:00 CST
Is Travis Jones playing tonight?
-
Travis Jones of Tyner Academy DB/WR started as freshmen.
-
To bring to everyones attention. Howard has been getting killed in the passing league
Howard strength will be the line so passing league is not that big a deal,
the Tigers are loaded.
-
Tyner lost in the second round to DCA which lost to Alcoa in the semi's.
DCA won their region with Goodpasture second.
I think Tyner is one of the top ten teams in 2A.

Look out for Howard they will have a fast team loaded with juniors and they have their entire line back for 2 more years. Red Bank is done. I think the coach will soon be leaving, Hixson has the athletes but lack the lineman its been their problem for years. Howard and Hixson were the two most inconsistant programs in the area but Tarver has turned that program around like Duff did for Hixson in the late 90s
Howard is playing Red Bank in the jamboree.
The Tigers are loaded.

Tyner's defense has been exceptional against the run this year. I honestly believe that all of our losses have come against passing teams. Brainerd, Fulton, South Pittsburg, and McCallie all threw the ball very well against us. All of those games also included bad turnovers that led to points for the other team. As far as the line and linebackers they are all solid and fast, and playing their best football of the year. The secondary started this year very shaky and were getting exposed early in the season, however they have had several interceptions and played excellent man to man defense in the past 3 to 4 weeks. Tyner's defense will no doubt keep the pressure up this Friday night.
South Pittsburgh had 22 yards passing against Tyner.
McCallie had 76 yards.

Blowout...South Pitt by 35..They need to be playing Red Bank instead
They not that good. Red Bank.

Howard is a very good team, give up the props.
-
That's OK... ya'll never beat us in my day... As a matter of fact, before ya'll became semi-private (aka "magnet school") and began recruiting players, Tyner couldn't win an intersquad scrimmage! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
Tyner won the state in 97 and were runner up in 96. Tyner became magnet in 99.
