  1. region 5 is the weakest in the state. their 3rd place team dont even have a winning record. in our region, huntland who is 7-3 wont evenn make the playoffs. region 6 will sweep. the only one that will be close is boro vs byrns, but they aint seen anyone like CJ so the cats win a close one. and who ever thinks forrest will beat CA is a moron. the runningbacks in 6A is better than any in region 5 has seen. and mccewn in the playoffs is a joke.

What? Calling region 5 the weakest in the state is absurd. Nashville Christian and White House Heritage finished 6th and 7th in region 5 and beat playoff teams from regions 4 and 2 respectively. We will never know, but I would be willing to bet that only regions 6 and 7 are better top to bottom than region 5.

Now, is region 6 better than 5? Certainly. Is a sweep possible? Yes. Region 6 is the most competitve in the state and has been for years. Huntland and Moore County would be playoff teams in any other region. This is nothing new, its been like that in region 6 for years. I understand your frustration at playing in a loaded region, but don't offend others and make rediculous statements because of it.

  2. Sounds like you share some of the same charm that old Region 6 1A has. You can sometimes smell the Jack Daniels when playing at Moore County. Or playing on the field that Majors built at Huntland with the Cumberland Escarpment in the distance. How bout frog bottom at Cornersville? Or the field at Forrest backing up to the state's largest tractor pull. Then going down the Trace to play Collinwood in the pit, which is basically a field carved into the side of a hill out in the woods. Or Wayne County with those old dim lights, dark uniforms, and a ball with no stripes while running the veer, that was always tough. Small town football at its best.

  3. It's too early to call anyone the #2 team in Region 6. CA will be involved in the usual dogfight to get in the playoffs from this region. A pretty good football team usually stays home come playoff time from 6A. I don't know if anyone can challenge Mt. Pleasant but CA is a good team with some nice talent to go along with Ingram.

  4. The region 5 and 6 sub state games are usually better than most of the state games. With a couple notable exceptions(Friendship and Boyd) the best teams in the state the last several years have come from these regions: Goodpasture, DA, Ezell, FRA, Forrest, Richland, Summertown, and CA. Summertown and CA are both good enough to do well at state this year. Good luck to Goodpasture and DA.

  5. Don't feel to slighted about it. They don't have a clue if it doesn't happen in the Metro area. I cancelled my subscription years ago. Got tired of reading ultra-liberal editorials and 5 pages about the Titans and Hockey. I was shocked to see how pitiful the Tennesseans high school coverage was when compared to non big league towns in the South.

  6. I was told all game times for Thursday were moved up one hour from the original bracket to keep things from running so late. Not sure for games after Thursday. Anybody know who won Eagleville-Unionville play-in game?

  7. -Cornersville and Forrest will flip today to see who gets the 1st seed.

-I'm not sure who won the play-in game yesterday between Unionville and Eagleville.

    Tournament at Shelbyville Central

    Thurs May 5th

    3:00

    1 Cornersville/Forrest vs. 8 Unionville/Eagleville

    4:30

    4 Richland vs. 5 Huntland

    6:00

    2 Cornersville/Forrest vs 7 Moore County

    7:30

    3 Cascade vs 6 Culleoka

  8. At present:

1.Forrest is unbeaten in district play.

2.Cornersville could force a tie if they can beat Forrest next Tues and they both win the other games.

3.Cascade and Richland are tied for 3rd and will likely finish that way. Cascade beat Richland yesterday 2-0. Richland won the first 2-1. Cascade has also played both C'ville and Forrest very close in the last week. Both teams seem to be playing better and could prove dangerous in the tourney.

    5.Huntland

    6.Culleoka

7.Moore Co. will likely finish here after playing Eagleville and Community in the final week.

8/9. Eagleville or Unionville - The schedule shows E'ville won the 1st meeting, but don't know about the 2nd.

  9. Keep an eye on the sky. Sounds like storms are expected to refire late this afternoon as the front approaches. The following is form the National Weather Service mid-morning forcast discussion:

    LATEST VIS SATELLITE SHOWING GOOD

AMOUNT OF CLEAR SKIES WHICH COMBINED WITH INCOMING STRONG UL SHORT-

WAVE WILL LEAD TO MODERATE-STRONG INSTABILITY AHEAD OF APPROACHING

FRONTAL BOUNDARY. AFTER PERIOD OF DRY CONDITIONS BEHIND EXITING

PLATEAU CONVECTION...SCATTERED STRONG-SEVERE TSTORMS EXPECTED TO

REDEVELOP LATER TODAY. EXPECT LIKELY POPS WITH MENTION OF SEVERE

    REMAINDER OF THE DAY.

  10. There have been a bunch of rainouts and some teams don't enter their scores. Here's the best I can figure to this point:

    1 Forrest 10-0

    2 Cornersville 8-1

    3 Richland 6-4

    4 Cascade 6-4

    5 Huntland 4-4

    6 Culleoka 5-5

    7 Eagleville 1-7

    8 Moore Co 0-6

    9 Unionville 0-9

Forrest and Cornersville look to battle it out for the top spot. 3 thru 6 as usual in this district are all competitive and its anybodys guess where they finish. I do know that Richland's 4 losses are all to Cornersville and Forrest so they have a chance to move up. Moore County will likely move up as they have not played(or haven't entered their scores) with either Eagleville or Unionville.

  11. Forrest is top dog til someone knocks them off. They have won to many games over the years with a very disciplined approach to count them out. Plus, they are not fooling me, they still have more talent than most. Richland and Cornersville could do it, but will have to prove they can consistently beat Forrest. Cascade is returning the talent to compete. Not sure about Huntland or Culleoka, they have done well in recent years, but I don't know what they have. Community is excited about a new coach. Eagleville will continue to struggle. Moore County could be very dangerous if they develop some pitching. They play great defense and hit the ball as well as anybody.

Forrest should steamroll thru that new district next year. If I'm not mistaken, either F.C. Boyd or VanBuren doesn't even have a softball team. Hopefully they can keep some of the old rivalry games with Culleoka, Richland, and Cornersville. The other new district should be very competitive with CA and all of the teams except Santa Fe having fair to better teams in the recent past.
