One and done. Luckily for Columbia the Chattanooga area was terrible this year.
ballsman....you can't say that this deep into a tournment of the caliber of these elite 8. Anyone of the teams left can pull it out. your odds are a bit better than 12 percent stat wise. 50% of the teams will be "one and done" you don't even know the bracket yet. Wait until Saturday before you walk out on that limb with the saw

i read earlier about some1 saying bring a lawnchair and sit on the bowl in the south endzone. In my opinion i wouldn't advise it.
Okay good greif I was being a little fesicious (smart a..) Don't bring a lawn chair, You'll roll down the hill like one of those blow up balls that people pay 55 bucks a pop in Myrtle Beach to roll down a sand dune inside. C'mon my point, there is enough seating.
And one thing about the refs and AC. the crew was from Clarksville, yeah they were bad but bad for both sides. Don't let anyone try to make you believe anything different. Now that being said, AC's call that hurt them the most was the offside at the goal line and as much as I wanted the Lions to win, that was a bad call so there I said it I was standing right there. Now what ensued after the game (and what was being spewed by the short coach with the cargo shorts on in the booth during the game) was uncalled for. It's not just AC there were some Lions fans riled up also but the coaches have to provide some example and leadership and that dude was one pulse short of an anyeurism. That's the type stuff that gives the south all the stereotypes that we have to combat all the time. So now some 14 year old with a computer can ream me a new one, so I'm outta here (can't stand the reaming you have to drink all that stuff the day before).
Wait, not yet, there is a high school basketball classic (The noon Columbia Roatary Club Classic) going on Friday. Games have been moved up 3 hours to accomodate the football. My point, come early and see some of Tennessee's best high school teams both girls and boys play then go on to the game, you'll only have to park once. FWIW toodaloo!
-
Probably going to move Saturday's games up 3 hours or so to allow for the football playoffs

Here you go
http://www.columbialionsfootball.com/
There are all the usual eating places just off the Saturn Parkway exit at Spring Hill or in Columbia. Don't have to worry about seating either the stands go from end zone to end zone 25 rows up and the south end zone is a bowl bring your lawn chair it is more comfortable.

Shelbyville may win it this year but that's not a repeat Wilson Central won AAA last year
-
don't write off Oakland I saw them this weekend and they looked good even though they lost to Columbia they won some other games. they could be a team no one wants to play in Feb
-
Pageman, looking forward to seeing you again and this tournament is even better than last year.
-
Well now I though Bear Bryant had passed away but guess not. Good luck to all.
-
I did! ( I'm talking about the one in the ad that comes up on the coacht homepage sometimes....surely you've seen it)
-
As far as finding Frankin Co's gym wouldn't it be better for M'boro fans just to come down 24 toward Chattanooga and take the Winchester Pelham exit? Then west into Winchester and right at the Chevy dealer? I may be way off but hey that sounds like it would work. Got a call from school,,,,,White Co is on the way! T minus 5hrs. Go Lady Lions!
-
KW good to see you also. You couldn't tell I was nervous could you? Of all the 1st round matchups I like yours the best from a potential "good game" standpoint. Granted all teams have to show up but you guys and siegel are close. I don't think the system has anything for Riverdale and as long as the stars aren't misaligned, I think we take care of White Co and Shelbyville wins in what may be a sqeaker early on. Last year, the Cookeville coach had our number. We won only on last minute athleticisim when they fianally had to start fouling. Actually it was a game bout like Columbia/Lawrence Co at your place this year but we fianally got the lead and kept it. Good luck and hoops right back atcha
-
An interesting observation. I believe you are mistaken, given the facts. Siegel is one of the best defensive teams in the State, holding opponents to 39.2 points per game over a 30+ game schedule, while LC is giving up 47.7 points per game. Siegel is scoring 51.4 points per game, while LC scored 46.9. Siegel is the District 7AAA Regular season champ and playing at home, where they have only lost twice this year. LC has a good team, but I'll have to go with Siegel on this one.
Not mistaken by any facts. this is the tournament.... throw the stats out. Lawrence Co is capable Mind you I said capabable of playing defense with anybody in the state. I wasn't belittling the capabilities of Siegel. I saw them both play in Columbia's Thanksgiving tournament and from that, ....if Lawrenceburg plays up to their capability on defense....They win. They are faster..... and a bit more athletic also. But hey the winner gets Shelbyville so knock yourself out!
-
L'burg by 5 their defense wins this one
-
Well while we're on the topic of missions then.....Columbia has to not overlook anyone on their way to face Shelbyville again. Riverdale will have to work hard also to get past Coffee Co. The "system" has improved alot lately. Enough to beat a very good Lincoln Co. team. If Columbia and Riverdale advance, that could be the best game in the whole region tournament.
As far as the Columbia/White Co. history I was thinking and probably that's what got me in trouble. But wasn't Jolly at White co. and Columbia had to play them in the 90's a few times? I may have the wrong school. Oh well it's time for bingo.

We had an off night, we weren't up for them, we had blown them out twice this year already so we weren't motivated, we had girls not 100 %, the lights were
too bright in the gym, the pep band wasn't there. Did I leave anything out ?
I won't put the blame on us. Instead I'm going to give Spring Hill a lot of credit.
They played hard, played well, made some big plays & had they won they
would have been very deserving. And we would have learned a very valuable
lesson that goes anytime you step out on that court you had better be ready to
play ball. No excuses.
Anybody ever wonder why teams don't play well ? Most of the time it has
something to do with the opponents.
By the way, we did beat Spring Hill.

By the way Columbia did too by 30! Good night sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite good luck the rest of the way

Okay second round is over
Stage is set
Lawrence Co. vs. Coffee Co. for 3rd. If all else is equal.... I'm takin the Wildkitties because they are playing at home. If their legs hold up their defense will prevail.'
Lawrence Co by 5.
Now Shelbyville vs. Columbia for the top spot. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses. The teams really don't match up very well. By that I mean that where Shelbyville obviously has a strong post lineup.. they have weaker guard play. Where Columbia may not be as strong at post (some will argue and I may be included but for conversaiton) they have outstanding guard play. The bench is the same way strong for both teams but in different ways. Take away neutral court because each team won on the other teams floor
Soooo 2 good teams with respect for each other banging it out. For every Shelbyville fan saying they'll win there is a Lady Lion fan saying different. I'm trying to weigh it out but neither team has any injuries so all guns are available
Big IF.... but if Columbia is hitting the basket on average...They win by 6. IF not Shelbyville by 6. Columbia can't afford a slow start like the Coffee Co game. ONe other way to look at it is if Columbia can hold Shelbyvillle to under 45 They also win. Oh well Can't wait either way. By both teams either 1 or 2, they are opposite each other the rest of the way and could both wind up in the glass house.
-
Well the system just didn't have it tonight. Great job Lady Lions. Keep up the D and no tellin how far you'll go. two players double double. www.columbialadylions.com has pics and stats

Oh, I think Columbia was taking the game serious! The fact that they turned the ball over a lot and didn't make shots doesn't show that they weren't taking the game serious - it shows that they were having an off night. The panic on their faces through the first 3 quarters showed that they couldn't believe that they were being outplayed. How serious is a game when a ranked team only beats a bunch of Freshmen and Sophmores by 5 points. The game was serious enough that Columbia played their starters the whole game. The Tigerettes are young, but "serious" or not, they gave Columbia all that they could handle and more!
I don't think that Columbia will forget how "serious" the game was.
Go Tigerettes!
Fourgranny, with all due respect, and the given that Marshall Co. played an outstanding game. It took just that....an outstanding game from them to get beat by 5 on a night when Columbia played terrible. Now having said that, Columbia took that as a wake up Im sure because if they played at Lewisburg like they did last night .... Columbia wins by 20 again as they did earlier. No doubt, as early as next year Lewisburg will be a strong contender in their district. But Columbia was definately not "up" for that game. That's not good I'll admit but it's fact. I wish rivalry meant more but they were kinda looking forward to the tournament games and hopefully success. I'm pullin for Marshall Co to win theirs. By the way we had girls out sick also and the full rotation was in all during the game not just the starters. Matter of fact also the bench got the scoring started that led to the victory. FWIW

I'm thinking 6 but I'm sure someone else knows for sure.
-
You are correct about the free throws and he did get out coached. Also a lot of turmoil in Winchester.
I don't think so but anyway they (Franklin Co) are young and will be right in the thick of things next year
-
The system won for CC and John Wild got out coached.
I don't think Wild would ever get out coached Franklin Co missed 14 freethrows and only shot 30 some odd percent from the floor. Still a good win for Coffee Co.
-
I think it was 65-54
-
Well it looks like I was 2 for 3.
I knew the Wildkitties would be hard to tame on their home floor and wanted a good start to that rescheduled dance afterwards.
The Lady Lions took care of business also
Congratulations to Coffee Co. with a 6 seed defeating a 3 seed.
Sooooo
Lawrence Co vs. Shelbyville at 6:00 Wed at Lawrenceburg
Columbia vs. Coffee Co. at 8:00 afterwards
I'm going to have to study this one before prognosticating on these games I'll be right back
Okay I'm back
Shelbyville by 6 (if the 8 day layoff doesn't hinder them early.)
Columbia by 10. the system still will need tweaking against the Lady Lions. CC will want to run and that bodes well for Columbia.
Whatchu think?

Whites Station vs Columbia
in Boys Basketball
Posted
I'm sure Shoeless Joe is the next coming of Lebron James, but in the meantime, Emanuel Andrews at Shelbyville is no slouch and Columbia took care of him very successfully. I know it will be tough for Columbia but White Station will need more than Jackson. Columbia knows "D" (how many ppg was Cleveland averaging?) if the Lions keep WS in the 60's.....they win......book it!
