  1. Woosley on the other hand was from Moore Co. Lynchburg to be exact. She transfered at the end of her 8 th grade year. 3,415 points carrear go figure.
  2. Nope... the winner is Unionville. She played for Misty Lamb her 8th grade year and almost got MVP of the district tournament that year but the Unionville team almost upset Moore Co. with Janet Holt's sister but I can't remember her name. If Unionville had've won, Nancy would have been the MVP for sure. She didn't get all district cause she didn't move up until after the 20 game Jr. High season.
  3. Do you guys have cheerleaders? Dress out the cheerleaders and (2-3 of them) and sub them in and out. Let them play around the perimeter and help out then let them cheer the boys game. Softball, Soccer team? ask for help. bottom line the younger grades need to get involved in a Sat league or something to peak interest.
  4. I've seen them both. Played them both. Cant wait to see them both play. If everybody is healthy both sides....I'm going way out on a limb and say the physical defense of Oakland gives them a slight edge and will hinder the outside game of MJ but it will be close..... I'll be there Lord willing... Oakland by 5
  5. If the phillies from Lawrence Co. get hot from the arc, it could get interesting. The pressure defense of Oakland is tough. I think it'll be well worth watching but in the end Oakland's athleticisim (I almost said Oakland Athletics) will win out. Oakland by 10.
  6. Where was the game played? Also does anybody know what time the Mt. Juliet vs. Oakland game is on Saturday in Lebanon?
  7. I don't know any of the details but was the site up for "bid" will it rotate? Smaller is okay but the kids love playing at Murphy and it may help overcoming stage fright in the State Tournament. I hope if they are gonna stay with this format that is does have a chance to rotate.
  8. I must congratulate the Lady Wildcats on their win (I think on the road at Lincoln Co.) What was their secret to success. The Lincoln Co. team is quite good I am told.
  9. Explain a bit deeper. Do you mean if many players foul out of a game who's left or if players quit the varsity not leaving enough to play at all?
  10. Great comment from someone obviously very close to the situation and a great wealth of knoweledge. I do believe this is the first time the "average joe" has entered into any chat involving the Columbia Lady Lions.
  11. The only thing is see different is the depth question is Columbia is really 8 deep with Smith, Owens, and Peery coming off the bench. Usually you are lucky if you got a sixth man and real lucky if you have a seventh. Columbia don't really check up with any of the combos yet.
  12. The Florida team is very athletic but not use to "our" style of play. By that I mean in last years tournament at Page, I believe this is the same team, they were weak defending alot of picks and set offenses but would run you out of the gym. Problem was they weren't well conditioned and couldn't keep up a fast pace over the entire game. They were a one or two pass team then drive to the basket looking for a foul and well coached teams took charges and also didn't allow the drives. It 's one of those deals when they look like the Lakers warming up but aren't really that good. "All show and no go" imo
  13. They were in the Columbia Rotary Thanksgiving Classic and defeated Wayne Co soundly and Wayne Co. may be a bit down but they are still well coached and very good to me. DCA will be tough. I enjoyed their fast tempo style of play.
  14. A "W" will suffice but I don't want Shelbyville hanging around close in the 4th. I'm sayin Columbia by 12.
  15. It is early but it is on alot of minds so here's your chance. Home court advantage for the Eaglettes? Or have the Lady Lions fianally got the horses?
  16. If anyone is interested, the up to date stats of the Columbia Lady Lions are now posted on the website www.columbialadylions.com FYI Thanks
  17. I'll take it and run Hope you are right thumb
  18. No one should abuse an opportunity to gloat. Gloat with class if that's possible. The Eaglettes may not win the district, but they just might have a say in who does. Until you have beaten them, they are still who they are. Columbia hasn't beaten them since 1998 I think. I am excited about going to the "Grill" on Friday but still those gold balls are intimidating. I like our chances, but anything can happen in that place. Good programs attract good players, not the other way around and if the players have the means to better themselves..... so be it. Now saying that... it is fun to watch other teams have a chance to win against a team that has dominated for so long. Go Lady Lions!
  19. I can't figure out why they were late but one of CC's parents seemed real disgusted with the situation as if there were some underlying things bothering him as well. It can't be good to walk in a bee hive and look up at the clock with 11 minutes to game time and you're in street clothes. I think Coach Moore or the AD or someone put a few more minutes on the clock for good measure. Either way the Ladies were ready to go for the tip off. While I'm here, this is a sports thread but KUDOS to the Columbia Central High School Pep Band! this is the first year in a long time that there has been this much excitement in the Lions Den (for the girls games) and the new pep band adds to it emensly. The director is Darryl Boston and he did the Lawrence Co. pep band for a few years and they were always so impressive. GOOD JOB EVERYBODY and Cindy Johnson for getting as many kids involved as possible. Also Alyssa Jones, a sophmore Lady Lion post player, KNOCKED OUT the national anthem. Way to go.
  20. Good job ladies!! It got loud in the Lions Den tonight and you guys rock! Get up for Friday night at Rick's Grill. We'll be there! What a balanced attack 1 point shy of all starters in double figures. Double double for Dee Bullock you go girl!
  21. Things are starting to get verrrry interesting. Oakland, sounds like things went as planned. Congrats.... The Lady Lions roared tonight. First complete game and except for a small lull in the 3rd they were totally unstoppable. Better "D" up for Friday nite at the Grill. Stilll planning on the trip to see the Lady Pats play the Lady Bears.
  22. I'm not sure which tournament Oakland was in last year but it is the Deep South Classic in Gwinnette. The tournament schedule is on the Lady Lions web page www.columbialadylions.com
  23. Columbia plays Coffee tomorrow, then Shelbyville Fri., then Tullahoma next Tues. Out of District with Marshall Co. on the 17th. before leaving for Atlanta on the 26th. So 3 for the Lady Lions. I left out Springhill on Sat nite but haven't really considered it as a game.
  24. I would agree with coach. I've seen Lawrence Co but I don't think they're top 4. I've seen Shelbyville and they're not top 4 either but until someone beats them they gotta be there. Don't know bout Lincoln, Franklin Co's or Tullahoma.
  25. This may sound sadistic but from a curiosity standpoint how are teams holding up injury wise at the present. Last year the injury bug hit Shelbyville and several other teams. I know Sara at Oakland is getting PT now for the first time in quite a while. I read an interesting article on MCL and ACL injuries in women athletes maybe I can scan it and post it somewhere for whoever wants to read it. Or maybe I'll post the condensed version. Just Curious
