  1. Doubt that anyone will miss it, even in this economy...
  2. Fair enough. Just don't make the tournament 3 games in 3 days like it was. I also like your idea on another thread about letting the coaches in the state tournament rank the teams and then use that as seeding.
  3. Comparing apples to oranges if you compare a high school system to the NCAA's....
  4. How about this idea. Its going to ruffle some feathers because it will knock a few out early but it keeps you from losing more than once and advancing and also eliminates any seeding, blind draw, or any other method other than playing teams in your area. (which is what we do for 3 of the 4 rounds of the current system any way, why not keep doing it) Take only the top two from the district tournaments. I know it will eliminate some good teams, but put a little importance on that district semi final game. Region tournament consists of district champions playing other district runner ups, winners of those games play, only the Region champion moves on to Murfreesboro. State Tournament consists of Top Bracket R1 Champion v R2 Champion R3 Champion v R4 Champion Bottom Bracket R5 Champion v R6 Champion R7 Champion v R8 Champion This eliminates losing up to three times and still going to state and also any "conspiracy" on who plays who at State. Its set and done by who is in your part of the state which is what we presently do for 3/4ths of our tournament. I'm probably going to get blasted for this but its concrete, and decided on the court. Not by someone seeding or luck of a blind a draw.
  5. The problem with doing it by sections like you and others have suggested is that it only works if the best two are from the same section. Lets look at your system this year in single A. These are seeded by little to no knowledge of some of these teams. This is a hypothetical situation, not trying to start anything. Don't anyone get their panties in a wad. East-Section 1 Knox Grace, Cloudland Mid East- Section 2 Chatt Grace, Temple Mid West- Section 3 Summertown, Clarksville Acad West- Section 4 Humboldt, Manasass Knox Grace vs Clarksville Acad Summertown vs Cloudland Humboldt vs Temple Chatt Grace vs Manasass It would work (this year) if you switched the A3 vs B1 and A2 vs B4. But again that would balance things out this year, maybe not the next. Also, how would you decide what section gets to play each section? If you kept it Section1 and Section 3 plays each other, Section 2 and Section 4 play each other every year, you would be putting the two traditionally stronger sections together (2 and 4) every year. I guess you could rotate it but then you might run into schools that play each other during the season. (I know of a few District 15A teams that play District 12A schools, that would be sections 3 and 4) Heaven forbid we randomly draw what section plays each other... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" I like the way you are going with seeding just the sections. It could be done a lot easier than seeding the whole 8 teams. I just think that the blind draw is the best situation that we have available.
  6. Heather Griffin of Gibson County won MVP. Might have shocked some because of the way Butler played the first two games but Griffin was HUGE in the final with Butler not having her best night shooting. Griffin had a double double all three games averaging 17 points and 11.6 rebounds
  7. Just announced, class 2A goes to Lauren March.
  8. The problem with doing by sections is that you will have certain sections that are traditionally stronger than others. (Example Memphis is 2A and 3A are always going to be really strongerAnd how are you going to decide who gets to play what sections. And the only way that keeps the best two teams away from each other is if you have the best two in the same section. It would work this year with 1A (Humboldt and Manasass) but what happens if the best two are from the Middle and East and they have to play each other first round? We don't have a perfect system in place with the blind draw but we have the best that we have come up with.
  9. TSSAA website has Laken Leonard winning class A. AA and AAA will be announced after thier respective championship games.
  10. As does Kentucky. They have a small school only one that they crown early in the year and then they have the one that includes all schools regardless of size.
  11. Are they as good as some of the West Tenn teams that didn't make it up there? No. But to that they don't deserve to be there is wrong. They had the same requirements to get up there as everbody else, beat the teams in your district, region, and sub state. Can they help it that thier part of the state is weaker? No. So don't belittle them because of something they can't control. With all that being said, they probably lose by a pretty good margin....
  12. True, they have straigtened out now but you put something like this in their hands and then you will back to where it was a few years ago. I would even go so far as to say coaches would lobby thier hometown paper for a higher rank. I agree, there has to be a better way, but we haven't figured it out yet. I don't think you can compare HS to other sports. Totally different animal.
  13. If you think this is a load a crap, wait til you see them try to seed this tournament. There is no fair way to seed this tournament. You can't go by records because then schools would play cupcakes. You can't go by the AP rankings because then you are leaving it up to the media who have no clue about teams in other areas and you also bring in the possiblity of them ranking thier team higher than they should be so they can get a good seed. Is the blind draw system we have perfect? By all means no. But is it the best system that we have come up with? Yes.
  14. Nobody was "put" anywhere. Somebody has to play the first game of the day..... Trust me there is no conspriacy on who Humboldt drew nor the time... Like BigDaddy said, Humboldt fans have been crowing on here a long time about how they can beat Manassas, now you won't have to win two games and wait til Saturday to do it.
  15. Game over Gibson County 66 South Greene 46 Heather Butler 32 pts 11-19 from the field 8-8 from FT, making a HUGE push for that tourney MVP Heather Griffin 15 pts 11 rebs As a team 19-21 from FT Forced 24 turnovers
  16. End of 3rd GC up 49-31 I need a faster internet connection... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  17. I was thinking the same thing. The district and region also change up a little....
