  1. What's everyone's true thoughts and opinion on DeKalb Counties Steven Jennings being listed as the QB on the preseason 3a all-state list?

Is he qualified and deserving of that title? Is there another QB in 3a that's more deserving? I imagine there has to be a QB out there somewhere with better stats.

With all respect to your QB, Cole Smith was all state as a sophomore and junior. There's no reason to think he's not going to be it again as a senior, especially as he closes in on the state record for passing yards in a career.

  2. Family is moving here. They visited Catholic over the summer as well as several other schools in this area. I was there when he came to visit and spoke with both the player and his father. I think the mom knowing Coach Matthews helped in the decision but wasn't the only factor. He also has gotten to know the Mays family well since he and Cooper Mays are the same age.

No doubt the fact that Butch Jones is already recruiting him is a factor in this as well. Butch gets to have this kid local, the mom reunites with an old friend and I'm sure is being compensated nicely with a fantastic job, certainly better than what she had out west. Call it what you want IrishBball, but it's definitely sketchy

  3. Weird stuff happening at Catholic. Middle school football players "announcing" their committment to Catholic via social media as if they're college players. Call me a pot stirrer if you will, but cases like the big lineman from out West, or Grace's 2 best MS players coming over is why teams like Webb and CAK won't play Catholic for the time being. Too much fishy stuff.

  4. AD reported to CAK football families a couple of days ago that the initial inquiry stage is over and they've narrowed the field to a handful of candidates for full interviews and the goal is to have a coach in place before spring break, which for CAK I think comes about the second or third week of March. My guess is he'll try to move even quicker than that if he can.

    Warriors,

    Who are the candidates?

  5. I just wanted to give a shout out to this year's Warrior senior class. You guys made us proud on and off the field! Thank you for the countless hours you put in to play the best game ever created. Watching you improve and become one of the best in the state was a lot of fun. What a great season! You dominated every game you played (except for the 2 obvious) and even took on North east TN's best team and dominated that game! Best of luck to you in your future plans!

Pleasure watching these seniors play the last 4 years. So much talent. Looking forward to seeing players like 12, 75, 24, 66, 8, 21, 78, 16, etc lead this program into the future. I will miss watching these boys play more than any class since the state championship classes but the future is in good hands.

  6. With all due respect, I can't fully agree with your comparison of this year's players with players on the 2011-12 OL unit. In my humble opinion, I think you're at most only about half right in your analysis on that issue. I won't say which half I disagree with as I try to avoid causing hurt feelings among family and friends of current players or past players (and I assume you do too). And by saying you are half right, I am being intentionally vague as to whether I'm referring to the 2011-12 underclassmen or one or more of the current players you listed, or maybe I'm referring to a little of both. I do agree that this year's OL looked to be very strong, and certainly the strongest as a collective unit, since 2012 (before all the injuries).

You're right Warriors2011, I would never look to cause hurt feelings from any of the Warrior faithful or parents but I stand by my statement and echo gunslinger's. 63, 72, and 52 were top notch high school offensive linemen. I would replace the remaining 2 with any of the 4 I previously mentioned. You can never take away what the 11/12 team accomplished, and I'm thankful to have been able to watch them play.
  7. Since CRB mentioned it to the newspaper reporter, as quoted this morning's paper, I suppose it's no secret now and OK for me to mention here. In addition to losing OLB 3 in last week's game, the Warriors also lost OT/DT 71 to a knee injury. Many didn't notice it during the game because there was no stoppage of play; he came off the field to get checked and never returned. That means CAK will have five senior starters watching from the sidelines tonight. The loss of 71 on both sides of the line hurts a lot. The loss of so many seniors is compounded by the fact that two sophomore linemen who have good potential went down to season-ending knee injuries earlier in the year, and they would have been the guys to step into the void on DL.

Losing 71 is an extremely tough blow for the Warriors. People always point to the 2011-12 offensive line as to a major reason those state titles were won. At the onset of the season, I think CAK had 4 offensive linemen (71, 55, 75 and 70) who are better than the two underclassmen linemen who started on those teams. Losing 2 of those players to knee injuries has been as bad a blow as this team could endure, short of losing the QB.

  8. 327 pounds and a work horse to boot! Kid is a freak for as big as he is and how he can move. For his sake I hope he grows another 2-3 inches upward!

Amazing game tonight! Was privileged to catch the tail end of it and a quality game for sure! 330ish pounds as an 8th grader? That doesn't sound too healthy... Hopefully they can get that weight in check before it becomes a life problem... Hats of to both teams and good luck on your seasons!

  9. They are a bunch of computer geeks who have never played the game before in their lives. I wonder who else their "team" has avoided playing in the past. I know I know "but LBD we are the second best team in the state behind Maryville." LOL that's their claim to fame. Pathetic!

"Those who can't play generally find their way up to the PA announcing position of a successful program after being rejected by another successful program and then leeches on and claim they've witnessed every meaningful moment for the last 25 years when in fact they have no clue what they're talking about" -Unknown.

I think I got that quote correct...

  10. I'll take your word for it that we have a kid with a bull horn (maybe it hasn't been the same kid over the last 6 years? just a thought), you'll have to decide if you take my word for it about your fan, who I'm guessing is also in that 15-19 year old brain category. I will give you this, of all the teams that we've played, CAK coaches/players/fans have been by far the most respectful I've seen. some of the garbage I've heard from other teams is unbelievable, but never heard anything too bad from CAK. I'm certainly not for calling out individual kids on here, but if those tweets really occurred, he should be called out and properly dealt with.

I'll never forget when campus security had to eject a certain head ball coach and his picture takin wife cause she was snappin photos of CRB every time he was signaling stuff. Same time as the head ball coach was chatting up the coaches from the other side giving him advice. It was a sight for sure.

  11. Catholic's schedule is very tough this year so it hard to gauge just how good they are now, but by the end of the year we should be clicking. Don't want to peak in August. They have a lot of kids playing this year that were major contributors the last two years. As far as preparing guys for college, over the last 8 years Catholic has had three kids sign with UT (one being Mayes) two kids sign scholarships at Duke, one at Notre Dame, Baylor, Cincinnati, UNLV, Buffalo, MTSU, Memphis, Navy, Bowling Green and USC (Rodgers). They've had several sign as preferred walk on's at UT. As far as the FCS (1AA level) Brown, Dayton, 2 at ETSU, and Southern Illinois. Lots of guys playing at DII and DIII level. So Catholic does a good job of preparing guys for the next level, I'm curious to know how many next level guys CAK has produced over that same span. I know that schools are looking at Kuerschen, Rowan, Woods, and Scott as well (mostly FCS schools).

With all those top flight players, how has Catholic failed to advance farther in the playoffs than they have? Coaching?

  12. It's really tough to judge a game by last year, and the best example I can think of is CAK/LA from 2013 going to 2014. That might have been one of the worst teams CAK has had and they mercy ruled LA with a freshman quarterback. The next year, LA took it to CAK. I don't think that last year is going to matter much, guys...

  13. What's it to you?! He is doing a fantastic job!

BTW.........I can not stand the black buzzards also. Please stalk me.......and see who's world

    gets rocked!

I just hate fakes man. Like, talking about stuff that happened in 06 or against BJ Coleman like you were there. You're not an Alcoa guy, never gonna be one either. There's the Goon Squad, who I really like, and then the guy playin the part of the fool... And that's you AB. BC, got a lot of respect for you and your partisan outlook on the Naders. It's refreshing compared to "well why didn't you play us in 94" boy...

  14. That's......not what happened at all. I never said that either. 😂😂

Go easy on the drinks, bruh.

Now you're just flat out lying. Go easy on the lies, "bruh"... But I guess you've been flat out lying since your first day on coacht... AlcoaBasketball? Yeah and my name should be "CockeCountyChessClub"... We both have equal amounts to do with those programs...

  15. They didn't. 😂😂

That's not what people say... And it makes a lot sense when you consider how you're always dogging Fulton. Seriously, you even said earlier that you put in an application to do the announcing job for the Falcons... Falcons said no, you had to start hating. It's really okay bro...
