  1. I had to double check this one! Clarksville Northwest beats Hillwood by a score of 79-36 this evening! It was 30-16 after the first quarter!

Northwest leads 46-16 at the half and then we get five touchdowns in the third quarter and Hillwood pulls within 60-36 after three! It ends with three NW scores in then final quarter for the 79-36 final.

According to the "Tennesseean", Northwest had 676 yards of offense, Hillwood 348, for a combined 1024 yards of offense which is 3/5 of a mile!

  2. Being from region 5-AA, I could have told you up front that Harpeth has little class when it comes to getting the bad end of a big score. They are notorius for leaving their starters in and thinking you should pull theirs. I think Winkler is still living in the glory days of the late 90's when he had the two Tant brothers make him look like a lot better coach than he is.. Harpeth has done nothing since they left and will do nothing in the future. I am one 5-AA fan who was glad to see them get what they deserved!

  3. they need to play a real team instead of running up the score on badly coached, weak programs

Thye play them as they come. Your inferance is that they somehow don't deserve their accolades because the teams they defeated were "weak" teams. The excitement permeates the landscape simply because Mt. Pleasant has failed to handle such teams in the past two seasons. Improvement is obvious, much like your animosity.

  4. I am not Mr. Haney but the Panthers passing attack was non existant against Giles County. Reason one was that they played it very close to the vest in the first half with the young QB in the game. They threw twice in the third quarter and missed scores by inces on both of them.

  5. I would think that Coach Bassham would definitely have the upper hand but one has to wonder if Coach Wolaver doesn't wish to cut the entire string and look for some genuine new blood?

Ricky Rice of Perry County has to be considered a front runner, as far as head coaches go. But the three names mentioned from Lewis County would be incredible hires as well.

Tim Watkins has worked as the Assistant Head Coach for Lewis for the past few years. Kelly Spivey has been the defensive coordibnator with great responsibility. Trent Hill is young and may be looking to head back to Maury County. If any of them got the job and put the Wing-T into effect at Mt. Pleasant, with their athletes, they would be contenders within two years.

  6. I have read several posts on here and I mean several from Lewis County fans offering congratulations to McKenzie. I have not read one yet that has made excuses for losing.

On the other side of the coin, I have read dozens of posts from McKenzie which have been boastful and rubbing salt in the wounds of Lewis County. If this is the best you guys have to offer, it makes fans think very little of your makeup. This was a hard fought game that went down to the final 30 seconds... it's not like you guys dominated the game. You won, showing great heart to do so. Show a little sportsmanship and a modicum of class and try and allow the rest of West and Middle Tennessee offer support this week. Geeez!

  7. McKenzie has shocked some folks by coming out of their region as the number three seed, winning over Fairview in a nailbiter, 15-14. Lewis County has remained steady as a rock in reeling off 8 straight wins, getting revenge on Riverside tonight by a score of 22-0.

Last year, McKenzie dominated Lewis County in a big way when both teams were undefeated in round three. Granted McKenzie graduated most of last year's starters and Lewis County has some momentum but I have to think that the Rebels will be favorites at home. How about you?

  8. I don't believe the team that you refer to is still playing in McKenzie? Personally, I would prefer to play Fairview, even though it would be a much, much tougher game than playing another also ran from the mighty region 6-AA. I would like to keep round three between our own region teams and let the best team win.

By the way, the McKenzie-Lewis County series is tied at one game a piece if you want to delve into historical data? And speaking of woodsheds, didn't you find one in Martin?

  9. Riverside has had a strange season. They started out like they might be the cream of the crop in their region and then when they lost to Huntingdon, it looked like they went south, losing to Adamsville in the last reg season game but then turned it aorund and handled Loretto. Their success is in the hands of Golder, in my opinion. Lewis County has a lot of weapons, it should be a good one.

  10. I guess that fellow that was laughing about Lewis County not having to worry about playing Huntingdon because Lewis would never make it there far was right in one regard? Congrats to the Jackets and Panthers for making the region proud!

i play for fairview i was just saying it is all the same. yeah see the difference is just because we have a good season we won't be bragging about it until we win state. i believe the only people who can brag our those who win state. in every sport a coaches job is to produce championships. if they don't they get fired, that's all i am sayin.

Well partner, I wish you well but after your team falls short of winning the state championship, not a word from YOU, even if you make it to the Blue Cross Bowl and shock the world by losing to say...Tyner, Sweetwater or Goodpasture by 1 point in 6 overtimes.. Not one word from YOU about the good season, the good team or how close you came... not a word.
