  1. Good win last night guys! It is good to see a great crowd and homecoming week was great! I know how hard the players and coaches are working and I for one can say I'm proud to be a YELLOWJACKET! Keep working hard and good things will happen. Big thanks to everyone who made this week special at GCHS our kids needed it after all they have been through.

  2. Bill, you talk about how the community support has always been there and maybe it was during Coach Colquette's days, what I'm wondering is where was the support when Evans was there? Seems to me that in most situations communty support will rise or decline based on how much sucess you have on the field. This is the way it is at most schools . If my memory serves me correct Evans took Marion to the playoffs and the support was not what you would expect from the community. Why do you think that is or am I mistaken? It just seems to me that the community would of wanted to see Jason suceed and would have done anything they could do to see this happen being that he was on some of Coach Colquette's championship teams.

Grundy beat Moore County in the first round of single elimination. Great job by Coach Smith and his staff for putting on a great tournament considering all the rain and bad weather on Friday!

  4. I dont say much on here but I will say this. 1) Grundy smoked Sequathchie on Thursday night and you can make whatever excuse you want to make but the scoreboard say it all. 2)Grundy got smoked tonight (Monday) at Hixson and I'm sure there will be no excuse from Coach Holt and his players about why they lost. Facts are facts and the bottom line is the district is going to be crazy. I'd say if you dont show up and play well on any given night in this district you will likely be on the short end of the scoreboard, and for the most part any team can beat any team on a given night. It will certainly be fun to see how everything shakes out.

  5. Not here to start anything, just something to ponder over. Most people would agree that Howard has the best basketball program in 6-AA for the past several years if not please feel free to tell me who has been better. With that being said, can anyone tell me the last team from the mounatain-valley to beat Howard?

  6. Indian,

East Ridge beat Grundy 5-3 on Wed. Hope that helps clear up standings a little. All I know is this tournament could be crazy and I'm sure a lot of fun. This is the most parity that I have seen in the district in my seven years at Grundy. Thanks for all you do to give 6-AA softball a voice on this site. Everyone please continue to keep Loren Pickett in thier prayers! It appears that she will make a full recovery but it will take some time.

  7. East Ridge at Grundy will be played at 4:00 central time today. Game was cancelled on Tuesday due to one of Grundy's players being in an auto accident on the way to school and was life flighted to Erlanger. The player, Loren Pickett was very lucky to only have some deep cuts to her left arm which will require several surgeries (skin graphs) to repair. As bad as her arm looks it appears there is no ligament or tendon damage or broken bones. Thanks to Coach Mauser at East Ridge and everyone else that has called to check on Loren and please continue to pray for her.

  8. QUOTE(Indian @ Apr 27 2007 - 10:09 AM) 826446772[/snapback]Saturday might be a good day for Grundy-Notre Dame. I don't know when it's scheduled, though. I think the Whitwell game made four games Sequatchie had scheduled that weren't played, they'd even been favored in them or the games would have been toss-ups like Whitwell.

The Grundy/ Notre Dame game is a forfiet for Grundy. Weather conditions were fine at Grundy when the game was to be played on Thursday, April 19th. Notre Dame did not have enough players and could not play. Grundy is finished with district play in the regular season with a 4-4 record and that is that!

  9. This Unionvegas guy is a genious. This is the same guy that told me that MTSU was for real. I guess if they are in fact for real then South Dakota St. is the # 1 team in the country if you use Misty math. The truth is i really like Unionvegas. I bailed him out of jail once back when he was still on the sauce. Thankfully he is now on the straight and narrow and working part time as the voice of the Vikes. Good luck tonight with Mt. Juliet Christian and throughout the season.

  10. Congratulations to Coach Pratt, Coach Phillips , Coach Covington and Coach Lawerence as well as to all the players at South Pittsburg on winning the Grundy County Invitational on Saturday. They beat Grundy in the semifinals and Cannon in the championship. This team has came a long way in a short time under the direction of Coach Pratt and his staff. Shortstop April Wehunt ana pitcher Becca Blevins were voted to the tournament team along with catcher Lauren Castle who was voted MVP. Cannon County had Karrie Spradley Shawna Kennedy and Amy Griffith and the all tournament team. Grundy was represented by pitcher Kara Jordan, catcher Alex Sanders and DP Andrea Nunley. DeKalb County had Catrell and Jarred (sorry no first names). Thanks to all that made this tournament a success.

  11. I would agree with Del on this. Coach Richards will likely stay around a few more years. I hope he does, I love teaching with him and being a young coach that gets to learn from him on a daily basis. He is a great guy and besides that if he retired his wife would probally kill him because he would be around the house to much.

  12. I will say this. There is some outstanding coaches in the Lynchburg Jr. Pro that develope talent for thier middle school and high school programs. The reason thier high school program is so good on a consistant basis is becuase of this and the fact that the kids they coach develope and stay in the Moore County's program for thier whole school career. In some other small community's when the kids develope they send thier child to another high school because the school where thier child grew up and played Jr. Pro is not good enough for them to play high school ball at for some reason. Im not trying to upset anyone, Im just stating the facts.

On another side note they must pay the coaches at Lynchburg Jr. Pro because the last time I went to the Lynchburg Elementary gym, The scoreboard was not working and they were keeping score on a dry erase board. Can anyone tell me if that has been fixed in the last couple of years.

  13. Vegas thinks he should get comped every time he goes anywhere with anybody! What he has forgot is that the only place you get comps is at casinos and he dont go in those places anymore even though he lives twenty mintes from tunica. At any rate you would think Fanning or Helton could at leat take hime out for a sandwich. Maybe they are not as BIG TIME as I thought.

  14. I like the bleacher coaches at "The Mecca." They know the game as well as many high school coaches around. They are not like most parents that sit around and blow hot air at officials at the games, they know what they are talking about. The best part about it is they get in the other teams head and dont even try. Its great to watch. I like to call them BIG TIME cause they are. Keep on hackin boys!

  15. So what your saying is that they are not as near as good as some people thought they were in early September. Some of the things I read on this site made me think they had a chance to win the region this year and with thier 4-1 start they had me beleiving but then Marion beat them like they always do. I really hate it because I thought with the new coach coming in that things would change. Once again as it so often happens the more things change, the more they really stay the same.
