Well boys, just got home from church. I must admit, I prayed for our football team and coaches. We are seriously looking at 2-3 wins at most.

hhsbball12, lets hurry up and get this season over with and get to some basketball right. Why didn't you ever go back and play football - I remember you playing a lot when you were a freshman? I think you might have even started some.

I know you are close to the current players. What is their take on all of this? I'm not going to ever bash the coaches, but it seems like we have some internal problems?

One last thing - our stadium looks terrible. Holes in the fence (some are covered up by signs), grass isn't being kept the way it used to be. What is the deal? Who is responsible for the crappy conditions?

I am as disappointed as I have been in a long, long, long time. I just don't think the Devils have it in them to win many games this year. I hate saying wait till next year, we'll be better next year, beat us while you can next year will be different. All of those sayings are B.S. Lets get something done NOW. I don't believe in bashing coaches, but we/they must try something different.

I wonder if our coaches are to old to coach these young kids. Maybe we need to put some new faces on staff, as most of the current ones where here with Sheppard. Try something, don't just sit their and do nothing!

Thats right start complaining about the toughness of the schedule, blah, blah, blah. Quit complaining, you fine former coach Stevens is the one that made it out. Maybe next year yall will schedule the sisters of the poor, so you will get a victory.

Call me crazy, but I thought this thread was about Powell football, not one's ability to scalp tickets.

Powell is just a blip on the radar screen for Maryville.

The title of OC is misleading, most of the time. Why can't a school have an OC and the head coach call the plays.

My point is this, old radio broadcast breath, IF MATT LOWE IS TRUSTING SOMEONE ELSE TO RUN THE OFFENSE, HE DON'T KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING!!!!!

He has been a good offensive coordinator and in my opinion he should still be calling the plays.

And it don't make a crap which side of Dry Gap OR Interstate 75 you live on.

Where oh Where is Ollie Shanknerdie? I predict this game will go into 10 overtimes before someone wins. Both are horrible and can't beat the sisters of the poor!

We have the ship back on track. I just wish we had saved some of those points we scored against the Gibbs boys for the West game. I'm afraid we might need them. West ain't gonna be quite as pitiful as the Eaglets from Gibbs.

UYou mean Matt LOwe was cursing at the refs. No way, he is a model citizen and would never do that. I remember watching him play in hs and he always had a model attitude. Modeled after every redneck in Powell.

Just like I said last week - Halls and Powell with identical records, 1-2. Great game Devils, 48-6 never saw it coming THAT bad. Yes Large was/is a decent QB, but dropped passes and better speed than Gibbs. Plus, tradition! I think I know how many times Gibbs has won in this game, but somebody (other than me) print it.

Ain't no way The Devils will lose to Gibbs.

Listen, I'm a big Devil fan. When you have played against Powell, Central, Maryville you tend to hate them just a little bit. You don't like to see make excuses for their shortcomings. We are young and inexperienced but I'm not going to use that as an excuse. We played a lot of these kids last year and they must grow up quickly. Senior leadership comes from within and should be demanded by the coaches.

Thats the way is was when I was there and thats the way it should be now. For all the negative crap on here about Coach Sheppard, he did demand effort and discipline and hard work. He took no crap from parents, players, administration. Now don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying KJ is wrong, I'm saying I know how Coach Sheppard was.

Don't go blaming the coaches, they call the plays, players make the plays, fans applaud (sp?) the plays, parents blame the plays on the coaches. Great world? No, but thats the bottom line.

You don't have a clue. Maryville has won the state so many times in the past 8 years, they ought to name it the Rebel Championship Game. GUESS WHAT - they leave the morning of the game and play at 3 pm, and go back after the game. Doesn't seem to affect them.

Don't give up on the Devils just yet. I remember back 4,5,6 years ago and Maryville started out like 0-3, 0-4, 0-5 and wound up winning the state. Now I'm not saying we will win the state, but we will improve and get to .500 by season's end.

Haven't seen them but I have heard as much. They have missed the playoffs the last 3 seasons and it doesn't look like they will make it this year. Is it players, coaches, or a combination of both?

Congrats to the Pussycats on their first win this year. Sorry to say the Devils are still looking for #1.

Bet, after this weekend, Halls will be 1-2 (21+ point victory) and Powell will be 1-2 (21+ point loss).
