Giles isn't a "Knoxville city school" that relies on athletes to win games and freaks out when they play a well coached team with players. They will come to play and they'll play hard. Greeneville better be careful what they wish for because Giles County is not coming to east-TN to shine their rings. O'Conner is a good coach and his teams are going to battle right up through the end. Good Luck Bobcats!

OC does the bobcats ready because they have been practicing since January! I guess GC fans will then say they lost spring practice, but I guess OC is smart to throw and do 7 on 7 for 4 months to lose 10 days?

As rock said, two very similar teams, two very evenly matched teams. Y'all keep acting like Nostradumbas and giving us the scores, but in all reality we all know this game could go either way. As in any evenly matched game it comes down to least mistakes, least penalties and who wins the turnover margin.

 

I as a GC fan obviously think things look good for us. We finished with 4 strong opponents and three down to the wire games which prepare you for games like this. We have almost all of our injured players back with a possible exception of one hand issue. I think we have one of the best coaching staffs in the state of TN. And, we have the secret weapon back for this game, one that MC can't find on film, so good luck preparing for him because he did not play in the first MC/GC game.

I think the ones who wanted to play basketball were able to play at the first of the football season.

How bout in January when OC was doing 7 on 7?

I have begged and pleaded with the TSSAA for years to change their admission policy for championship events to this format:

 

$8 for adults.

$1 for their children under high school age

$2 for high school students

 

Get the kids in the gates. Concessions will help the host sites make up the money TSSAA is taking from them for their share. This will help families afford to come to the games. A lot of high school students currently can't afford events with multiple dates like the basketball championships at their current prices.

TSSAA takes 50% off the top and then the two schools split the rest.

I hope all the district teams do well. Fairview vs Lewis should be a good one. I hope Giles and Page both pull it out. As for my Tigers.......play MC ball and finally throw a wrinkle in that offense, I promise it will not work past this week. #3 is really good but your best players are really studied harder this time of year. gotta find an unsung hero out of this bunch. I was so ticked when I seen that crowd last Friday night. Notre Dame had more people there than us. Support your teams!!! The boys really deserve ur support. Who scored the other night? I think MC scored 4 times and #3 you talk about only scored 1 of the 4 TD's.

I don't see it as a fluke much anymore. I mean Page beat Lexington. No such thing as two flukes or luck or whatever excuse you're gonna give. Page just has better coaching than Marshall Co.

Page's last second TD pass is better coaching?? So MC beats giles and Page gets beat by Giles what does that mean????

I expect to see a Giles/Marshall rematch in the quarters. That should be fun!!!!

Rd 2 is big!

Graham?? He cleans 340lbs. He runs a 4.8 40. He has a 32" vert. Face it! Graham is better and that's a fact. I wouldn't trade him for ANY other backer/ fullback in the district.You need to do some research before posting. Didnt Marshall County lose to Page? I think they did. I don't know who your All-American player is, but I guarantee you Graham is a better player all around.

Amd your point is? Yes MC lost to page but I would say if you were at the game the score the game should have been over at the half if Mc's backs could have kept their feet.

He's got more tackles than your #79. He benches more than your #79. He squats more than your #79. He's faster than your #79. He can jump higher than your #79. He's got more heart than your ENTIRE TEAM. In fact, the only thing your kid has more of than Graham is a gut. He is just an all around better football player. So what I'm trying to say is, if you think you have an athlete on your team, who can match him head to head, then you're just plain WRONG.

Serious, I guess you are right about benching more than #79 but if you are talking about weight room numbers you didn't put the Graham's clean max but #79 cleans 330 pounds and that he plays guard on the OL. This is the same OL that blocked for #3 when he was running up and down the field but I guess Graham wasn't it? Both kids are good players for each team, I would say that MC has a couple of kids that can have the ATHLETE tag.

Serious, think about what you are posting..

The defensive player of the year will be close to guy at Marshall County or Landon Graham #30 from Lewis. He has over 100 tackles this season. I think it is most in the district.

 

Offensive player of the year would have to be between #3 at Marshall or #21 for Lewis. He has over 1100 yards this season but if he didn't get hurt at Spring Hill he would have over 1300 yards. But i'm saying #3 would beat him in this award.

 

And i agree with Al Cobb being the MVP of the district.

 

#30 did a great job slowing #3 down when they played MC.

Wanted to get everyone's opinions on who you think should get awards based on the district season.

 

District MVP- Al Cobb QB Giles Co.- Without him running that offense, the Bobcats would probably be a .500 team at best. He has put up great numbers each week.

 

Offensive Player of the Year- Trevor Irizorry RB Marshall Co.- Finished 12 in the midstate with over 1100 yards and 13 TDs. Teams have had trouble all season stopping him.

 

Defensive Player of the Year- Davey Maddox DL Marshall Co.- Unblockable all season, he could not be stopped.

 

Coach of the Year- Coach Turchetta Marshall Co.

Irizorry is closer to 1500 yrds after last nights big game and would be in the top 5 in the state if they would stop putting in the kid from Mid. Heat that is 8 man football.

 

I have a question, but before I ask it I want to ask this... Was the cussing necesary? NO. Was the message necessary? YES evidently. Could he have got his message across without screaming and hollering? Probably NOT.

Did he admit his mistake? YES

 

Now that we know who made these statements and EXACTLY what was said...who in the world taped or recorded this? Why did he/she record this? What was his/her motivation for recording this? Don't you reckon there was some under lying reason for him/her to record this?

The said he is at fault for his cussing and now the kid needs to step us and get his 15min of fame.

First of all let me refresh some of your memories here: This is the same coach that last season allowed his starting QB to return to the team as a CAPTAIN after he threw his helmet across the track, returned to the field house, and proceeded to put his street clothes on, and return to the stands with the fans to bash his team and watch the remainder of this game with the fans! This does not set a positive tone or instill dicipline as head coach should. Now to the matter of petition, this was not a good idea and I don't really think it should have ever happened, but it is time for King to go! This is not about juice boxes and animal crackers anymore, this is about high school football! A coach has to be respected! A coach has to be a motivator! Football is a huge part of this community and most of these people witnessed what happened that night and lost ALL respect for this man as a coach and his staff! This is the real reason that this change is needed and our record is HORRIBLE. Congratulations to Hickman County for hiring Rewis, who has completely turned his team around in one season... So YES, time is important!

Good Job Hickman Co??? They Ran off the last coach they had and nothing against Rewis, who has done a GREAT job, but Hickman Co. was competative last year. How is that turning around a program??

Speaking of this game makes me sick to the stomach. Page was prepared for the 3 plays Marshall would run. 38 carries is a workload for one player, and obvious for a defense trying to stop it. You could hear the Page coaching staff from our stands. They were yelling and high diving all night. They really wanted this one. Out coached??? Uh yea. Better team wouldn't go that far, but they Won and that's all that matters. Marshall better wake up. Cmon boys!!! Go Tigers!

Out coached??? #3 is the horse and he wants the ball!! Page didn't and couldn't stop #3 all night if he keeps his feet he scores on three long runs and maybe two more. So I guess Mc should have not ran it and started throwing it all over the field???

Keep dreaming LC....at what point do you guys face the fact that the other team whipped you and quit making excuses? As for the 51 y'all put up, it appears much of that was Giles' doing. When I saw the score I knew it had to be points off of turnovers, cause I knew there was no way Lewis' offense lined up and did that.....I was right. I wonder what the excuses will be when y'all make an early exit from the playoffs, oh wait, it will be the refs, it's always the refs with y'all.

Last week Stone Memorial was in, this week they are not in the top 32. Therefore there was an open spot in the east and based off TSSAA projections, Lipscomb would be the next team to go. I don't have to check the seeding because that is from last week, those are not set in stone and are not accurate because they do not have Frayser in.

As of last Tue. Lipscomb was in quad 3 and Notre Dame replaced Signal Mt. in quad 2?

You must be on crack! ….we had 3 phantom penalties called against us on the 1st 6 plays…one cost us a TD…another was a clean hard tackle on a running back moving forward and getting jacked up(or down)… the call was a spear or helmet to helmet….either case is bogus….and our nose guard was talked more than our FullBack…the striped jersey players on the field impacted the out come….also, MC would not play LC 10 more times but if it could happen on any field with good officiating, LC wins more than it looses….I’m not saying MC is not good(because they are) I’m saying in a properly officiated game, the results would favor LC

You are just like most people on coacht, they know everything about the game but don't have the guts to step up and put the stripes on because they just want to sit behind the computer and talk about it. You spoke about the calls in the 1st Qrt. and these calls lost ya'll the game?? I guess the other 3 qrts don't count or #3 was runnig to hard and should have gotten a flag, or #1 pushed off everytime he was thrown the ball, and maybe #79 just being on the field should have drawn a flag? Almost forgot MC's OL-DL also didn't help with the win???? COME ON MAN, move on!!

I did this for 3A, so I figured you 4A guys would like to see what the playoffs would be like if they started today. The 4A race for the final 32 will be really interesting. This week there are 11 teams at 4-4 and only 9 spots. This week the last two teams out are Hillcrest and East Ridge. The only team below 4-4 to get in is Frayser at (3-5) because they are # 2 in their district.

 

Remember district winners are seeded 1st, runner ups 2nd, then WC.

How is MArshall Co. Playing Lipscomb when they aren't in the same Quad? Ck the tssaa 4a quad seeding.

Giles co seems to be playing their best ball while LC is coming off a defeat to the MC striped crew. Both teams need wins to solidify there best possible position in the playoffs. Who is gonna get it done?

When Giles wins you are going to say it's because of the Giles Co. striped crew, not the 11 players on the field?

If LC stops the cut back runs of 3, makes the qb throw to 1 and they score more than 21 they can definitely take this one. I don't think MC will be overconfident. It is more likely they are nervous the wheels may be about to fall off.
