  1. I really don't think you understand what has taken place here.  You now must decide if you are going to stop giving any type of aid to athletes or you go D2.  I will agree that athletes who parents work for TCA will not be affected. However, the key to understanding what took place is knowing what falls under a Financial Assistance Program. It includes the money that has been available at TCA for athletes who are not involved in varsity sports. Students can no longer do work study and  tuition discounts or financial aid if you play below varsity. Read your own website and you will see that TCA has been giving aid.  It all stops now or you go D2.  I'm sure Mr. Northcutt will soon realize like you that a decision will have to be made about changing the financial aid policy at his school or he can enjoy going to D2.

  2. TCA will be effected in a big way.  Number one they will no longer be able to give financial aid to athletes who play JV and JR high.  They also will not be able to give discounts on tuition to families that have multiple children involved in sports.  This will all change if they go DII and they will be able to do as schools in DII do.  All this information is found on their literature and webpage.

  3. Today I was able to review the game on TSSAA and really had a hard time telling if the lineman was far enough downfield or not. I did notice that the quarterback was in illegal motion by never getting set and should have been flagged. No dog in the fight but it would have been wrong for the play to have stood without flag being thrown. Both teams had their chances and it was an outstanding game.

  4. I don't mind calling bs on you. Check your film again. LC was flagged 15 yards for a personal foul. The foul was an extremely late hit on our QB. Surely your film shows that. And look again on either the first or second TD run. There was an obvious attempted trip by your player. If it wasn't 13 on either of those I apologize. But it was someone wearing your jersey. And he was the talk of our fans for the way he was conducting himself. Your snide pom pom remark is low class as well. Our freshmen and sophomores are well aware of the difficult task of playing upperclassmen all year. We didn't have a choice as Indy kept our Junior and Seniors. And we had to jump right in playing varsity b/c of the scheduling cycle. Otherwise we would have had to wait two years and play just JV. It will make us better and we don't mind good shots...had a few ourselves as your film shows. Must have been embarrassing getting blown up by a JV'er. But what we do mind is poor sportsmanship. LC had plenty of that.

First thing I would like to say is whoever decided for Summitt to play varsity with 9th and 10th graders should never have a voice in athletics again. I have watched the film and found that Lewis County did have a late hit before half-time that was properly flagged. Another player walked by a player and pointed and it was out of character for Lewis County. I'm sure all this has been addressed. Now I also noticed a helmet to helmet hit by a Summitt player and he was not ejected. Also late hit by Summitt player on a player down. I don't see Lewis County fans getting on anyone from Summitt. Let's stop trash talking and move on.

  5. Here is the information that will get you into the playoffs.

    4. Teams would qualify for the playoffs in the following manner:

    a. One half of the teams in each group (6A, 5A) in each district are

    automatic qualifiers (Example: 4 teams - 2 automatic qualifiers; 6 teams -3

automatic qualifiers; 3 teams 1 automatic qualifier; 1 team 0 automatic qualifiers)

    b. Teams finishing 1st or 2nd in the district are automatic qualifiers

    c. Wild cards based on TSSAA tiebreakers

    5. In 6A, there is the rare possibility that you have 25 automatic qualifiers.

    Districts 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 16 where there is 1 qualifier and another 6A

team could finish 2nd. If this occurred in all 8 districts, you would have 33

qualifiers. In the unlikely event that this would happen, you would apply the

tiebreaker criteria to those 8 teams to determine the 7 qualifiers to complete the

    32-team bracket.

    6. The 32 teams are then placed geographically in 4 quadrants with 8

teams in each quadrant in 6A, 5A, 4A, and 3A. In 2A and 1A there are 6 in each

quadrant with the top 2 seeds drawing a bye in the first round.

    7. The eight teams (6 in 2A and 1A) are placed in the bracket so that no

teams from the same district play each other in the first round except when there

are 5 or more teams from the same district. Placements are then done with

priorities given to automatic qualifiers based on their district finish followed by

Wild Cards. There may be times where teams have to be placed other than their

order of district finish to avoid teams from the same district meeting in the first

    round.

    8. The team with the higher seed will host throughout the first three rounds.

In the semifinals, the top team in the bracket will host in odd years and the team

in the bottom bracket will host in even years. (Exceptions: If the two teams are

from the same district, the higher finishing team in district standings shall host.)

    H. Directed state office to bring back plan on how the tournament format would

look if you use the same plan for football for other sports (basketball, baseball,

    softball, and volleyball).

  6. I am an avid Lewis County Fan an I am so sick of our fans getting on a thread like this and putting teams down. Hickman County had a great year and represented our region well tonight. They deserve to be bragged on at this moment instead of being put down. Lewis County fans should be ashamed of posting one negative thing about anyone. We had our chance and did not seize the opportunity like Hickman Co. did. I would like to tell all the people of Hickman Co. that they had an oustanding year and we are proud for them. I wish your game had turned out better tonight but there are very few teams that can boast about an 11-2 record. Good Luck until we play again next year and please overlook the classless posters on this vent from Lewis County.

  7. Footballfan931 you are incorrect on your statement about Lewis County not being SACS accredited. All four schools in the county are ALL SACS approved and in good standing. I'm so sorry in your your education that you weren't taught how to find the truth before making false statements. Education is the first priority for all our schools and athletics helps to enhance the learning experience for those who choose to participate in them. Try becoming a true football fan and being supportive of sports instead of going against your user name and cutting everyone else down for your own shortcomings. By the way switch back to your old user name so people will know why you feel the way you do about us.

  8. We played them the past two years he has been at Hickman and he is really turning their program around. The biggest change has been the number of kids he has gotten out to play. We hear that he has small staff and does most of the coaching. Found out he was the offensive coordinator at Huntingdon when they won the state. Many people there want him back.

  9. I've heard this accusation several times over the years. The season you are talking about is 1996-97 if I am not mistaken. That was ten years ago this year. I have never once heard any sanctions taken against any school for these alleged "violations." If these "violations" were so egregious, why hasn't the TSSAA taken any action? (And I won't buy the argument that "the TSSAA wants to protect these private schools" or something like that. Ask BA, USJ or McCallie if the TSSAA will take action against private schools for recruiting violations.)

BTW, don't you believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?

They were put on probation for taking money up at a Church to pay for tutition. Still explain how a parent living in government housing affords to send two children to a private school. Parent was also out of work when the student started to school at the private school.

  10. Wow again! About all I can say about this post is that (as a college professor of mine used to say) there's "too many broad, sweeping generalizations" here. Be careful about "broad, sweeping generalizations" like "...would never sell $1000 parking slots. Where do you think that money goes? To the school to offer "education" scolarships (sic) to athletes."

Question for you: Where do you think Jackson Christian gets their money to pay for uniforms, equipment, fields, maintenance, etc. as well as to fund non-revenue sports (like most all the other sports)? Even broader question: Where do they have a right to get their money from?

By the way, alleged "recruiting" by the private schools in your immmediate area (CA and ZA) has not really impacted the results of your contests between them, has it? Be careful how you answer. I'm from Columbia and have a brother that lives in Mt. Pleasant!

I truly hope you shake some of your cynicism soon. Why, you probably don't even believe in Santa Claus!

A few years back CA recruited 4 players from Lewis County to play basketball. They played for a state championship their senior year. One of the players lived in government housing and had several siblings. The mother was out of work and could not afford to send her child to a private school. Another student was in a similar situation. Where did the money come from tho send those students to a private school? I guess Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny provided it.

  11. Mike West you are trying to stir a mess by your post. This game is months away and yet you use your many user names to put your own hometown down. You have told us all how you don't like our offense, defense, and coaching staff

. By the way being from Hohenwald and the great connections you have with colleges you might put in a good word for some of our players. In many of these post you are talking to yourself. We all know your user names and realize what you are trying to do.

  12. Francis you seem to be an expert on just about everything. Don't really understand why a know-it -all like you spends so much wasteful time on this site. With your talents you should be picking up garbage, digging ditches, or recycling trash.

Lewis County has tried to play many of the schools that you have mentioned. Many times dates don't work out. Let our coach know where you are from and I am sure he would arrange a game or scrimmage.
