  1. Who else feels that Greeneville is being penalized just to keep them from scoring. There are several of my friends that feel this way and one is a former player and alum of Greeneville. But on to the game. Go Big Greene from the class of '93

Maybe it's because the zebras got money on the game......hey joe....yea john....we gotta keep the devils under 60 tonight I gots $10 riding on it.....some of you people kill me.

  2. Well it was a great game to watch. Claiborne jumped out 21-0. It was 21-6 at half. In the 4th cg had cut it to 27-21. Mistakes killed cg again. Fumbled punt ret and a blocked punt were back breakers. It took cg too long to get going. But they fought and showed more heart than ive seen all year. Congrats to chs. You guys played well. For cg...finish your last 2 games strong and try and get some wins...you guys deserve it.

I watched this one on the tube....momentum is a funny thing, and flipped back and forth, Claiborne had it early, and late. The teams looked pretty evenly matched, both teams QB's are pretty good.

  3. I think you quit saying things like this because they hear it enough as it is...I think you play a strict 2 platoon system so young players will see action and gain experience while the game is still heated and before it's out of reach...I think you do intentional rotations at certain positions so you'll always have a player ready if a starter goes down....I think you mix substitution groups so a young QB and RB get in there with the first O-line instead of the 3rd. Or Young linebackers behind the first D-line. Or young D-lineman while Older guys like #15 and #27 are in at LB to push them. There are a lot of ways to prepare for tougher opponents down the road while playing weaker ones. And I'm pretty confident that the GHS staff has thought through these things.

That is how you stay strong year in year out, and a luxury that many conference foes that dress 30-35 including freshmen aren't able to do.

  4. Rex Dockery..former Morristown coach and Memphis State coach who died in a palne crash in the '70's...once said that one of the tools a coach can use to motivate players to go hard in preparation for a lesser opponent...is to push for individual or group personal bests. Challenge your O-Line to a game where everyone grades 90% or better. Challenge receivers to not drop a single ball. Challenge backs to more yards than before and no fumbles. Set a defensive goal of fewest yards given up so far this year. Challenge individual players to a personal record in number of tackles. It's tough to get a team up to 'post-season form' when everyone tells them that this team or that team doesn't require any extra effort to defeat. Go Devils..put together a perfect game; eliminate mistakes; and start polishing up for post season.

Yea, but when ya gotta do it every game you run out of challenges.

  5. Grainger is struggling. Rebels are playing pretty decent. I say Shuffler and the Rebs win this on Rebel Hill.

Don't know much about SG Grainger has some size ,and a couple pretty quick backs. They got the look of a pretty good team but it hasn't translated into wins so far. I would not be shocked to see Grainger win.

  6. This one has been one that I have been waiting for. I've said it all year, the winner of this game will finish second in the BRac and earn themselves an automatic play off birth. I say West Greene wins a close one at home.

I have not seen West Greene play but I did see Claiborne play against Grainger last Friday night....they are small, much smaller than Grainger at least, but seem to be very well coached, and the QB/RB Malone I believe was his name is a player. It was actually a pretty close game till midway third quarter....should be a good game vs WG never underestimate the advantage of playing at home

  7. I'm pretty sure I just said the Buff weren't as good as the Devils. Yes, it was two levels of play. That's why the score was what it was. You're like arguing with my wife, you don't listen.

Every school has fans like these bud....most however don't post on coacht....your wasting your time with logic, they are incapable of giving anyone credit other than who they root for.

  8. Now daddy- o you have played the "playing up" card.

How's that barbarella....you said "we'll be spankin yer boys soon enough"....unless your boys move up they won't play my boys who sure ain't gonna play down, so unless your talking about a different kinda spanking it ain't gonna happen soon.

  9. Gosh Big Daddy, you're kinda being a pest...if Greeneville's O-line had blocked like they did the previous week against TH, if the Devils had played with the same intensity that they showed in the Stone Castle, if WG is better than TH Big Daddy...we'll be spankin' yer boys soon enough.

Yada, yada, yada.....if, if, if....if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butts on the ground, if barb didn't cry about the zebras in a 55-10 victory she wouldn't sound like an azz, if the Devils move back up a classification then maybe they could spank my boys....if, if, if

  10. Can anyone give us the penalties for both teams? It wasn't so much that it kept Greeneville from scoring 80...the o-line did that just fine.

So it was the zebras and the Devils themselves that kept from scoring 80....I guess West Greene's effort had nothing to do with it.

  11. Not a Grizz fan, but I did see them play Claiborne last night. They had a nice crowd, although it was homecoming so they do have fan support just not on coacht. It was a pretty good game for a half, they got a pretty quick RB Bowser I believe was his name, and they are definitely bigger than Claiborne. Very nice football stadium BTW.

  12. All of the above are true... WG and every other team in the BRAC will bring their best to Burley and it's a bit frustrating to see the Devis NOT. The o-line just wasn't blocking. And I don't think I have seen a less-competent officiating crew since we left the IMAC. From "ghost" face-masks and illegal blocks to the Boles kick return from the end-zone and holding no-calls, it was pathetic. I think they are gonna ride the Devils hard the rest of conference play. It may very well be the Devils vs Brac + officials from here on out.

I guess you and bud must have gone to different games....poor Devils how dare those zebras keep them from scoring 80....please excuse me while I wipe these tears from my eyes.

  13. Hats off to a good WG football team that never quit last night. A lot of heart on that field and they left nothing on the table. I know what the scoreboard said, but that's not a true indication of the game I saw.

Classy post Gdevil. Refreshing to see a Devil fan give some credit to the other teams players instead of "we had an off night or it was the zebras that kept from being 80-0"

  14. That post was from Jc press paper except for the first sentence!

I understand that, that's why I said 90% of your posts were of this nature....it's great to hype the team you cheer for, but it gains you nothing to make light of your opponents accomplishments. Try it just once....the Buffs are 5-1 tonights game could be a real challenge. You will gain the respect of fans of the Buffs, and when the Devils win big it will be more of an accomplishment to have beaten a good team. Just my opinion.

  15. Can't agree with you more devilhead!

Buffaloes vs. Greene Devils — With a record of 5-1, it would be understandable if West Greene entered this game with high hopes of a victory.

However, the Buffaloes’ first six opponents have a combined record of 8-24 and three of them were Class A teams. Meanwhile, Greeneville has played a VERY TOUGH BIG-SCHOOL SCHEDULE with an opponents’ record of 14-12.

    Devils have played- 1 6a team(Jeff. County), 2 5a teams(SS,THS), and 2 3a teams(SG,BETSY).

While it is understandable to be excited about your team, would it not be a good idea to give credit to opposing teams from time to time instead of bashing any accomplishments they have? With your present method if the Devils win 50-0 so what, big deal, the team they played sucked (according to you) It also says something about your class, or lack of, to continually toot your own horn, and bash your opponents. Your method of posting does not shed a favorable light on the Devils, nor their fans, and it's not just this post but 90% are of this nature.

  16. Its not really logic at all. I know CD will beat Claiborne im not really trying to bring logic I was just stateing who Claiborne has played and beat. now on to this game this why I think CD will win. in last years matchup CD and Claiborne it was a very good game CD was in it all the way intill a late touchdown and a pick 6 at the end. But CD was in the game had a chance to tie and a chance to win. but they was young didnt know how to win games in the clutch. Claiborne lost alot of players and prob some key players. CD lost LITTLE its the same team from last year just adding a Huge Center who moves 2 people by him self. CD haveing a Big Head. Idk if thats true i guess we will see. they have been thier in other sports. so the pressure shouldnt effect them.

Maybe you should have used logic....49-12 Claiborne.

  17. Finally. I have been waiting on this for a long time!! It's finally football time again. CG has looked up and down all pre-season. That performance at the Conference jamboree was abysmal. They played the night before for about 2 hrs at a jamboree in Middlesboro Ky against Harlan and looked much better. But the pre-season is over. It's game time. Thank goodness. The Panthers are still relatively young in many key positions. Last time i checked I think they are starting around 4-5 sophs on offense and only 3 srs and the rest are jrs. On defense they are starting 1 freshman, 4 sophs i think and only 1 or 2 srs. So they are still a bit young. But hopefully that will help them out in the long run. As for Union Co., I know nothing about them except that they have a new coach and a few pretty good players returning from last year. It's kinda tough to gauge CG so far because they have been very inconsistent and with this one being on the road i'm a little concerned. But i think that in the end, CG will play hard and hopefully leave maynardville with a big W and get the season off to a good start! Good luck this week guys, I hope you put it to em.

    CG - 28

    Union Co. - 12

    Go Panthers!!!! :thumb:

Union seems to change coaches a lot....do you know who their coach is now ?
