Coach Shad is a good man an a man of character.He is a friend.

I make that statement for full disclosure.

To say coach Shad had anything to do with booster club funds etc is laughable.How you may ask can I make a statement.I was involved in the Smyrna high school QB club for 10 years and was President for 3 years the last being the 2nd State Championship year.

This was before the new rules when we raised and handled our own money.

All money was raised and counted by 3 members and our bank statement was printed and given to every member to review at every meeting.All money spent was discussed and decided by all members at each meeting.Coach Shad submitted request through the QB club where they were discussed and voted on by members.

Not once during those 3 years did coach Shad attend a meeting and he couldn't have told you if we had 25 dollars or 25 thousand.

He didn't know not because he was clueless but because he wanted to coach football and keep QB club business and finances seperate

I can't imagine any scenario where coach Shad would have any idea about QB club forms etc. That would be the job of the QB club president and members

Somebody will be getting a great coach and coach Shad will be fine.

Haven't posted on here in quite some time but some things never change

I understand that. I guess I'm just sitting here thinking what it would have taken to keep me off the field for the title game my Sr. year.

A few things come to mind that may have kept you off the field:

athletic ability

skill

finding a state finalist that doesn't have a mascot available at the end of the year

violating your probation by leaving the county

premier of new harry potter movie

kenny g concert

about 30 other players better than you!

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Maryville however

While Maryville has been winning every set 3 to zero in the Wimbledon Bracket of their section (tea and crumpets anyone)

Smyrna has been fighting bare knuckles in the parking lot (from what I heard of the field in Whitehaven that is very close to true) every friday.

For a movie reference

Smyrna's journey has been more like the movie Fight Club versus Maryvilles has been like taking a date to see

Twilight.

MJ is going to be one of the most physical teams Smyrna has faced this year. They are elusive on O and stingy on D, but then so is Smyrna. Get ready, Bears, because this D is going to have speed you have never dreamed on.

 

I have ultimate respect for the job Coach Perry has done turning around the program at MJ. This man has earned gold at Portland and knows how to continue a season beyond the regular season. But this Smyrna team is very determined to leave their mark on history. This should be an exciting game. I am pulling for the Dawgs to take it though. Good luck and stay injury-free.

solid up front with some defensive line speed

solid coaching seemed to know the plan and executed mixed run and pass well

solid skill players

solid qb play

overall nothing flashy just a sort of solid blue collar whatever it takes to get it done team

with their defense they have a chance to make a run

hot dogs -- remain a dependable nutrcious,nutricous nutricious(can't spell) ---good for you item and should be their own food group

We have a seasoned group of seniors who are determined to start out 1-0 this year. The game last yr was a close one and left a bad tate in our mouths. We used it to our advantage though. Ensworth doesn't have Darkwa anymore either. So sorry Tim McGraw, you are going to be mighty disappointed this time round.

I cant believe i am saying this it is so pro riverdale/rankin

anybody that says riverdale cant compete now because talent is down well heres a story I witnessed personally.

I saw a riverdale full of mostly sophmores go into the pit several years ago and beat the number 1 undefeated senior laden Lincoln county at an oveflowing pit. Now there have been some riverdale teams that were over loaded with talent.

However there were also some teams through those years that won a lot of games on nothing but execution,playing sound defense and throwing in an unexpected play at just the right time.

That team that won at LC that night (in probably the best atmosphere i have ever seen in a hs game) would have never had a chance based on the present thnking and excuse making.

Unless you are running the A11 offense, how are you using all ten players...your right offensive tackle factoring in with a double reverse to him? The Hybrid Wing-T actually features four running backs: HB, WB, FB, QB...the base I features three, the spread features two (using a motion slot can give you three), so I am not sure your analogy is going to be making the SAT's english portion of the test anytime soon. If you do not like the offense, fine, but don't say it won't use multiple weapons.

Im talking about plays ran.

I will say it does not use mulitple weapons. It splits carries among numerous players when at times one of those players is clearly the best rb but due top as you say using multiple weapons that player may get 6 or 7 carries.

That "hybrid wing t" as you call it. I call it running sideways

As far as use of weapons ---

If you are a top notch wr and you hear adeylott is coming to town are you excited? You shouldn't be. My 80 yr old aunt could play wr for riverdale

If you are a true QB are you excited to play for him? No need for a qb coach to teach proper drop etc you won't need it.

Riverdale went to playing for state chamionships to not even making the playoffs under his watch thats all the proof you need.

heres how the wing t has worked for riverdale

state champs - rankin

loss in semis- rankin

loss in quarter - adeylott

loss in early round - adeylott

out of playoffs - adeylott

A simple wing t analogy

lets say me and you are going to fight

we each have a choice of up to 10 weapons each

I say I will use all 10 weapons available ( you now have to prepare to defend all 10)

You are correct about rutherford county/m,boro football it is as good as any and region 4 is by far the strongest in the state if you can win in this region you can win anywhere.

Good luck to wc in the future they have shown they are going to be around for a while.

Although-- I still hate the wing t for reasons I have stated many times especially to riverdaleman and lod. When it works wow but when it doesn't --- man it looks bad and if you get behind it is like trying to catch up wearing an anchor. I don't have any statistics but it sure seems like when wing t teams play a team a second time they struggle.

Good luck to Oakland supporters that have hung in there through the lean years 2p and others.

I have held off as long as I can. I am a coach at WC, and I never get on here and post.(particularly about my team) First off, don't judge my school by what a couple of posters get on here and say. Smyrna was better than we were last Friday night!!! Period. There are bad calls that occur in every game, and quite frankly I thought the game was officiated poorly both ways. Smyrna is good enough to win their 3rd title in a row, and I will be pulling for them because they are from our region.

Secondly, In the past I always respected you and your posts. It always seemed that you were observant and fair in your critiques. However, I think you have crossed the line. You need to focus on enjoying the run that your school is on and quit bashing WC. Trust me, we are glad to be out of the "murfreesboro mafia". Let other schools make there own determinations about us. They don't need or want your negative imput.

one more thing this is a message board folks post stuff and others respond, when wc fans come on here and predict huge victories and then when they lose a game they had 9 fumbles in and then blame the officials people are going to respond thats sort of how it goes.

no one dies no one gets shot just fans stating their case/opinion - the good news is most of these posters are true supporters of their schools and have a passion for hs football.

some of my best friends on here are the ones I have had the most heated arguments with over the years.

I am all for innocent until proven guiltybut an arrest has been made so there must be compelling evidence to the fact. The fact remains that this is a little beyond "beginning to show at risk behavior." If any of these were my children they would definitely not be playing football after this. This has become a pervasive problem over the last several decades all the way through to the professional ranks due to the lack of consequences for actions within a culture. As a result our young people "grow up" ,or not , doing whatever they want to. Just look at the headlines over the years and it is getting progressively worse because of the lack of discipline for whatever reason. I would submit ,that any COACH worth his salt, that truly cares about his young men (or women) would do what is appropriate in this situation and what is best for the team , school and sets the best example. JMO

I never said do an investigation with the coach and administration and then automatically let the kids play. rather do an in depth investigation and make the decision on that not kick them off just because they are charged.

The key here is don't throw a kid under the bus without careful investigation and consideration. The facts may lead you to dismiss a kid and they may lead you to support the kid. The key once again is the facts of that specific situation.

They handled it perfectly. They gathered the facts spoke with the authorities and made their decision based on factual information.

The incorrect way is to let a bunch of blow hard hollier than thow posters influence their decision.

the kid at Smyrna if you only knew is an example of a kid in a tough situation that has over came it and is now a straight a and b student despite his enviroment. he was on the wrong track when he got to Smyrna and has made a 100% turn around. like I say if most of you knew the facts and the situation you would cheer this kid on.

as for not playing people due to being charged versus convicted what about before your teams game next week I file charges against several of your players with breaking into my house, based on your reasoning they should not play since they have been "charged' regardless of if there is any truth to the charges.

It is clear the Smyrna player should be jailed immediately. A trial would be a waste of time. The media has investigated this and those who have read the acconts all agree that this was an atrocious act based on all the facts thay have read in the paper or seen on TV.

I would go one step further the coach should be fired and the team disbanded for a year till control can be regained.
