  1. Harriman has around 300 in the school and Kingston has about 675. With an enrollment of more than double Kingston should win every year. I'm not making excuses, I really don't care who wins. However facts are facts. Kingston is 3A and Harriman is 1A.

I realize this is a big county rivalry, and I have been to several of these games. What does Kingston gain from beating a 1A school? Heck they should beat them. If Harriman gets beat so what they should. I guess if your looking at winning and losing Kingston has more to lose.

I think that they keep playing for the gate. With football usually supporting many of the other sports this would be a big boost in funds for a 1A school. I bet Harriman makes more off the Kingston gate than they make on their other four home games combined.

This should be a good week for Roane county football. You have Kingston, Harriman on Thursday and Midway, Rockwood on Friday. I might try and go watch both games. Good luck to all the county teams this week.

  2. Staying healthy during two-a-days is huge, word is that Central has had a few injuries may hurt them against Loudon. The Harriman scrimmage should tell us alot about our speed. The devils hung tough with Austin East to a 0-0 tie, but there were mixed reports that it may had been AE's jv team. I was hoping to judge us a little more by the Harriman scrimmage because Sweetwater played them in the fall but again, they were short 9 starters when they played the Wildcats. So who knows. The only thing I know is, ITS FOOTBALL TIME! GO CHIEFS, GO BLUE DEVILS and GO TORNADOES!!!

I was at the Harriman, AE scrimmage. If that was AE's JV they brought about 70 of'em and two D1 prospects played.

  3. I think we're gonna move on. We were beaten by a good football team. This Coalfield team was probably the best 11 man team we have ever had as far as record. We will honor them in many ways. The seniors on this team have played in the 4th round, two third rounds, and have won 39 ball games in 4 years. They are truly record setters. Nothing could have been accomplished with out the upper classmen above them. They have given Coalfield a taste of winning that was lost for a few years. I congradulate the players, past and present, that have played with these seniors. You are the cream of the crop for this program the four year record speaks for itself. Remember where you have been, know where you are going, and return to Coalfield as adults with a purpose to give back.[/b] We are in dire need of our young people to take the traditions to the next level, and to assist in the improvement of the Community. Thanks.

Good luck Hampton in the upper rounds. It would be nice to know we were eliminated by the State Champions. Next year, maybe.

I’m sure all these fine young men that have played for the jackets over the years will return to the communities they are from and make great contributions! Better luck next year.

  4. Please don’t take this the wrong way. As an outsider looking in at the Oneida program, it seems to me that the past couple years really show how good a job Coach Henry and Mays where doing at Oneida. I have watched the Oneida program for several years, and they always seemed to compete for the region. Please understand I’m not criticizing the current staff. I’m sure they are doing the best they can. I just think sometimes you don’t realize what you have till you don’t have it anymore. Good luck to Oneida.

  5. Everyone knew Jermaine wasn't that fast since he was in pee wees. I mean he couldn't come within 5 yards of Mark Boyd, so if you are judging speed because of his athletic ability then you're way off. It doesn't take a whole lot of speed in high school to score. Jermaine had the ability to make people miss and the others were slower than him so it didn't matter anyway. Their have been a lot of great people that came through Roane County and I don't think you measure it by who went where and ended up where. I was actually stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas when Jermaine came to the Cowboy camp. Speed had nothing to do with him getting cut from that roster. It was a broken collarbone that kept him off as I witnessed him make a diving catch. The front of the Dallas paper said "Should have been Cowboys" the next day with a picture of Cope and Wood Dantzler.

I may be a little off with Harrimans speed, but I guarantee you they have 3 guys that run at least a 4.4!

ice, your an idiot! No one in Roane County runs a 4.4! The fastest kid in the county is probably the QB from Midway. Harriman would be luck if they had two or three players that ran in the high 4's.

  6. I'm confused, I was looking at the NFL draft stats on each player on draft day. They had WR/DB picks that didn't run 4.4s.

I'm even more confused about the named players. One lives in Oakdale, one in Wartburg and the other was from Clinton. How did they end up in Coalfield? The strong academics I guess.

Morgan County does not have to worry about consolidation of the schools. Coalfield has already taken care of the situation for them.

    Cheap Gas Alert!!!!

I have seen MPG buying gas several times at the Oakdale Fuel Center. For someone who has "moved" to Coalfield he is driving a long way to buy gas. Must be really cheap!!!!

  7. I think Oliver Springs has the O and D line to outmatch kingston. I however think Kingston has a slight edge on the skilled people. Of course this is not new to the bobcats. Nearly everyone they play has better skill people. I think OS can stop Kingston from running the ball. The question will be can they stop the pass? If the cats can keep from giving up the big play they will win a close one. Good luck to both teams. I'm goin with the cats 21-17.

  8. I think like any other team that will play Wartburg this year the key to success is controlling Arms. I think that as Arms goes so does Wartburg. I also think that Rockwood has the defensive people to keep him in check. I think the tigers proved this last year. They shut the dogs down on offense and the game was over by the half. Coach Allen does an excellent job and will have them ready tomorrow. If Arms has a good night it could be a close game. I however think Rockwood will win.

  9. I saw Midway play last week. They did a really great job against Oliver Springs. The OS lineman are huge! The score was 28-6 but this by no means indicates how well Midway played. I think Midway will win 28-14.

  10. hey bigjeff

Who has denied you the opportunity to play for Harriman? I think Coach Tapp would give anyone a shot at playing. I don’t think you were out there during spring practice where you? To say that an entire group of people have been denied the chance to play is crap. I also think that there are several players that are from the mythical “state champ” teams playing. The only person that has denied you the chance to play is YOU! Stop making excuses for being lazy and not willing to work for something. Take responsibility for your own actions and quit trying to pass the blame.

Another thing. This whole “state champs” thing is crazy. I think you beat one A Oneida for your “championship”. This is a joke. They only play at best 8 teams from the Harriman area. At most it should be a tri-county champs thing.

  11. cchsjets2002

I can’t figure out why someone from Crossville would be so concerned as to how Harriman does or doesn’t do in football.

Oh, just a second. The reason is cchsjets2002 is from rockwood.

cchs the only way you would take a leg out is if biggamer actually played for Harriman (which he does not) and he ran into the sideline and tripped over you on the bench.

I seem to recall when you “played” (and I use that term loosely) rockwood was taking a tail kicking from Harriman ever year!

All you naysayers and trash talkers have your fun now because Harriman football will rise again.

By the way when you talk to coach webb again, tell him turf toe said hello.

  12. kingstons vic king has been doing the same stuff on offense since 1986! Counter, inside trap, quick pitch, throw the fly down the sideline. When you get all this stopped he will run a hook pitch with his tail hanging in the end zone. He will throw the half back pass at any time also. His offense is very vanilla, but it gets the job done. You have to watch also, he'll go for 2 when he has you down by 50.

I saw them play last year and this. I thank they were better last (Driggers has the heart of a warrior). If Rockwoods line can control the los they will have a good chance at beating Roane County High.

I've alway had a soft spot for the underdog. Go Tigers!
