  1. Thinking any baldwin is a good actor indicates your taste in men. Not good.... Now, pass the keyboard to jabs.

jabs isn't here, Dr. Dandy. What I said was that he is a good enough actor to get you right-wingers to think he will be a good administrator.

My taste in men has nothing whatsoever to do with who I think are good actors or bad actors.

  2. Club ball cannot ever replace the experience of playing a sport for your own high school. There is something special about working hard for your alma mater, playing your best, getting recognition in pep rallies, dressing up on game days, having friends and other students come see you play your matches and cheer for you, etc. It seems to be a special experience whether college scouts see the players or not. It would be a real shame for anyone to miss that experience if they could lend talent to a particular team for their school.

I asked my daughter which she had more fun at...playing high school ball or playing club ball. High school won easily. Club ball has it's place, but it's like work. Anyone ever play college sports on a scholarship? It's like a job - that is how my daughter described playing club. She loved and enjoyed the girls she played with on her Impact team very much and they had success...but there wasn't that special feeling of playing for something bigger...like she described playing for her high school team.

    Just my 2 cents.

  3. They sure did...they had "chemistry!" LOL - what a pair that would make!

Actually, one of Alec's brothers - I believe it's Billy - has gone to the dark side and has become a right wing wacko. He isn't as good an actor as Alec, but he can act well enough to fool most of the other right wingers into thinking he is a good administrator.

Actually I was thinking about Alec Baldwin - they worked well together in The Hunt for Red October.

  4. Conservative writer George Will compared Thompson to "New Coke" in his editorial linked here:

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/...ampaign_ne.html

Fred Thompson's plunge into the presidential pool -- more belly-flop than swan dive -- was the strangest product launch since that of New Coke in 1985. Then the question was: Is this product necessary? A similar question stumped Thompson the day he plunged.

He also is unfamiliar with the details of his own positions. Consider his confusion the next day when talk radio host Laura Ingraham asked him about something he ardently supported -- the McCain-Feingold expansion of government regulation of political speech. His rambling, incoherent explanation was just clear enough to be alarming about what he believes, misremembers and does not know.

Thompson said he had advocated McCain-Feingold to prevent, among other things, corporations and labor unions from "giving large sums of money to individual politicians." But corporate and union contributions to individual candidates were outlawed in 1907 and 1947, respectively.

Most lamely, Thompson takes credit for McCain-Feingold doubling the amount of "hard money" an individual can give to a candidate, which he says reduces the advantages of incumbency. But that is absurd: Most hard money flows to incumbents.

  5. I can report that my daughter - who graduated from Page HS - is in her 2nd yr of college. Although she isn't playing vb, she is missing it very much. I'm glad to hear that because I thought for a while she had lost her love for the game. She hasn't - she just got burned out from years of travel ball and HS vb.

She is thinking about finding some team out there to play on...maybe club though the university or through some other group.

  6. The baby birds are leaving the nest and flying off to new adventures. Good luck to all of them. The old birds are here on coacht with their empty nests at home hoping the babies will be OK out there. I'm sure they will be.

    EXCUSE ME!!!!! Old birds???

    I am only 49............again!

And I'm sure we all would like to be able to compare to see if you are prettier than the FRO...post a pic and let us see who is the prettiest!!!!!

  8. On a bad night, "it" is a compliment! People could yell much worse at an official (right, CU?) /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

    Hahaha...GLJ! So true!! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

    You know I didn't mean what I said, right???? /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

  9. The "it" part is the personna of the poster. We all take on a different mind set from what we really are in real life when we post. We say things that are sometimes taken the wrong way. In the case of CU, the poster could be either the Mr. or Mrs. as I know both have posted here. I did not mean the "it" part to be derogatory - only that the posts may be a collaboration of two individuals in the personna of Cowboys Up.

Actually, PageMan, Mr. Cowboy has his own screen name, so it's just been me posting for about 3 years now. He and I didn't see eye to eye on everything he wanted to say and I asked that if he was going to post, that he post under his own screen name.

    I absolutely didn't take the "it" thing personally!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I've been called worse!!!!!

  10. I just have to open my heart a bit here...I am doubly - no - thrice blessed. My son plays for the Page baseball team and I had the distinct pleasure of spending this past baseball season with PageMan. I look forward to many more seasons of baseball with him, since my son will only be a sophomore. PageMan is such an important part of the Page athletic programs that he covers. He is truly an inspiration to us and to me personally. I've told him many times how much I appreciate him and I'm sure I've said so on this board, but I want to take every opportunity to say how much he is loved by me and many others.

I am lucky to know him on this board and in real life.

With respect and love to you, PageMan

    ~CU~

  11. GLJ, there couldn't be a better choice for a mod than P4K!

    P4K, thanks for helping keep things civil around here...vbdaddy gets a little out of hand sometimes! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  12. First of all, it was a great night of volleyball, actually a very fun night of volleyball for the southeast TN girls. Being able to come together one last time, as a team, was amazing. Forgetting about recent "club changes" this group of girls that have played together, for the most part, since they were 15 years old (a few since 14's), got on the court and played some very good volleyball but mostly they had FUN! They had fun "high fiving", they had fun kidding around with each other, they had fun laughing about their mistakes and yeah they even played some volleyball.

I personally want to say "Thanks" to Coach Paul Brock for understanding that it's about the girls and putting together a perfect group of players. Unfortunately, this group of girls may have been the hardest hit by the club changes but you would have never known it when you watched them play last night. Again, I am very proud of all the girls and have to say I believe it's the best group of "volleyball" girls to come through the Chattanooga area. Keep in mind I may be slightly biased but unbiasedly speaking, top to bottom I truly feel they are the best group and I'm not just talking about playing volleyball. They are a very mature group of young ladies who are now heading off to college and will each influence a lot of "new" people.

By the way if you are interested in the game results you can go to the link below. And finally, congratulations to Leigh Starvum (I misspelled it on purpose) for winning the game MVP. She just plain old "killed" it last night.

Note: Pictures #2 & #10 are really MVP Leigh Stavrum and pic #4 is Whitney Wulf.

That is a nice pic of Whitney - thanks for posting the article. It's good to see all those faces from East Tn again!
