  1. Sports are alive and well in EHS. This also goes for the county schools. Go to school where you can get the best education and also enjoy a quality sports program. Period. Comfort means alot to a young man or girl, parents should know that. Exposure in sports is also important for playing in the next level. I read alot of whinning when we should all be supporting each other. It's absolutlly MAD sometimes. My kids go to Eliz and I am glad they do. One of them has been recruited quite a bit by a school to the west of us. He was happy were he was and I am happy for him because it is a good school with good athletics. I am also proud to tell someone I live in Carter County, just happens to be in the Eliz. city limits. Try wishing all the Carter County schools well, you will feel better about yourself.

  2. Congrads on a good year DB. Upper east Tennessee teams have much unfinished business when it comes to football the last few years. The DB's, Cloudland, Elizabethton, Tn. High and others who have success year after year will get their time soon enough. Work harder, think smarter and good things will happen in the future. Most of us compete against each other year in and year out, but when it is play-off time we still come together and always will... class. We'll get'em next year. :D

  3. Sorry to have to say this, but it is becoming common knowledge. Flossie, your nuts!

Elizabethton doesn't need to schedule a 1A team. It is a no win situation for them. If they beat Cloudland, nothing is gained. If Cloudland beats them, much is lost. Anyway, Cloudland had teams for a couple of years that could handle them, now they don't.

And blaming the other county schools for Cloudland's defeat. :D That's what I say to that! Be sure and thank Unaka, Hampton for getting you guys to the finals last year. hehehe

  4. It will be a test of coaching smarts to pull together a quality team from this group. Seems to be a lot of speed but not much on the height. There are alot of quality guards there and on the way up, but there is a lack of big men (tall). Just maybe they will be a running team this year, but I doubt it. Hardin likes to slow down too much.

  5. I think it is good that Elizabethton plays DB because it creates a great measuring stick for the Cyclones. I personally look forward to watching your boys and ours play great ball down the road and maybe someday get back to seeing varsity action again. Good luck to you guys this Thursday vs. Science Hill. Should be a great game also. :)

  6. A FEW YEARS AGO, I ATTENDED A COUPLE OF PLAYOFF GAMES BETWEEN MARYVILLE AND ELIZABETHTON. THE GAMES WERE EXCELLANT AND MARYVILLE WON THEM BOTH AND ADVANCED TO THE CHAMPIONSHIPS. THE FANS ON BOTH SIDES WERE ANIMATED AND I AM SURE THERE WERE INSTANCES WHERE A FEW FANS, YOUNG AND OLD, GOT OUT OF LINE AS YOU SEE IN MOST GAMES. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT BOTH SQUADS PLAYED HARD, BOTH SETS OF FANS CHEERED LOUD AND IT WAS A CLASS GAME. MARYVILLE WON BOTH GAMES DUE TO "BREAKS", JUST AS ELIZABETHTON COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE BREAKS. I SAW NO NEED TO BASH MARYVILLE, AND MOST OF ELIZABETHTON'S FANS WISHED THEM WELL IN REPRESENTING EAST TENNESSEE DOWN THE ROAD. GIVE MARYVILLE A HAND BECAUSE THEY GET WHERE THEY ARE BY HARD WORK AND DON'T LET A SMALL GROUP OF FANS FROM ANYWHERE DISTORT YOUR PERCEPTION OF AN ENTIRE COMMUNITY.

  7. Interesting comments, but Preston is 5'9" and about 145lbs. Maybe in a year or two, if his size increases, he will have a shot. He won't be 15 until spring, so maturity plays a part also. Besides, I think he likes putting on some hits from the "d" side most of all.

Better yet, his favorite sport is baseball, and he is darn good at it. Take that info from the inside. Thanks, Preston's Dad
