  1. People seem to be forgetting someting about oneida: sickness (flu, strep, & mono) has hit the team like a ton of bricks. Throughout their 4 preseason games and 2 regular games, the Indians have not had the same starting line-up due to sickness, including their talented centerfielder Aaron Buttram who has missed everything up to this point with mono and is listed as out indefinately.

If you saw them at the Oliver Springs shin dig, I wouldn't put any stock whatsoever into their results due to so many players being out.

  2. How ironic that Allen Hughett end up back at Sunbright--the sight of his now apparent infamous cell phone conversation that got him sent to the bus right in the middle of the inning. Wow! PRICELESS /mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />

  3. The word i'm getting out of the Oneida camp is that the Indians couldn't play dead in a john wayne flick? Any truth to that rumor? And is that a play on words or pun or what? /mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />

  4. They just finished their football careers at Maryville College. Justin's QB skills helped Maryville get their program turned around as the Scots finished 5-5 after a 1-4 start while his brother Matt played safety in the best interest of the team. Their was a great article on the twins in the News-Sentinel recently!

  5. Kaz....don't let last night fool ya. We ain't that deep.

Who are you kidding?? Coach King can go at least 10 deep. The best I recall wasn't it the "2nd five" of Buttram, Slaven, Abbott, the Freak, and Lou who sparked the team? And usually the "1st five" are all over the place too in Lambert, Christiansen, Jeffers, Crowley, and Jacobs. Looks to me as if I just named at least 10 MAJOR contributors to the OHS basketball program. And I even left out a few names like Orick-sorry dude I know you can play.

At some point though, you'll give this team some credit. Possibly when the centers start to hit a few shots inside of 5 feet!

    Old Highlander,

I get TOTALLY sick and tired of reading the same ole line of bull over and over bout this and bout that. I CAN honestly say that I support both Oneida and Scott High.

I KNOW that Brother Bill (aka Coach Hall) and Coach King get the most out of their respective teams, but... it is people (or posts) like you (or yours) that make people from both respective schools want to puke.

Why? And again I ask why can't WE just get along? People tend to forget that at the end of the day when you put your head on your pillow at night that you and everyone in your surrounding area ARE Scott Countians 1st, not Highlanders or Indians! :)

  7. I truly believe Larry Davis can match his Xs & Os; however, the game of football requires you to have Jimmys & Joes!! And in the case of Coach Davis, his program does not currently have the Jimmys and Joes to compete in a global society, or in this case, Region 2 2A! Just look at some of the Jimmys and Joes the 'Dawgs have been competing against the past 2 years: Harrison Smith at Catholic, Hawkins at Loudon, Davis at Coalfield, Goins at Harriman, the entire roster from Alcoa--Warren, Lindsay, Shiverdecker, Sykes, and many, many others, and I know Sweetwater has a Latham, Oneida had a committee, and Rockwood & CAK have playmakers as well--I just don't know any names off the top of my head. Help me out here KingBrian or GooseVol: I hate leaving out GREAT players!

    Losses

    Oneida (5-5)--playoffs

    Coalfield (10-0)--playoffs

    Rockwood (5-5)

    Harriman (7-3)--playoffs

    Sweetwater (7-3)--playoffs

    Catholic (10-0)--playoffs

    Alcoa (8-2)--playoffs

    CAK (7-3)--playoffs

    Loudon (8-2)--playoffs

    Oliver Springs (1-9)

Gosh! They didn't play a team with an overall losing record until game 10! :D

  9. WW,

I'd set the over/under at odds of 80/20 the game will be postponed until Saturday evening at 7:30--that's right. I look for the game to be played during the TN -- SC game on Saturday night due to the Cherokees AD not wanting to hold SR night in the rain (among other things)! :D

It would hard to play the game Monday due to play-off preparation and it would be even harder to play the game any earlier Saturday due to several students from each school taking the ACT. :thumb:

  10. tommyg as in 'tommy girl!' :thumb:

You are coming off a complete and utter moron. It looks as if you have not only upset the "city slickers" from up north, but...you have ruffled the feathers of your own! It is one thing to appear big by downing other "communities" with-in the county--maybe jealously, but...it is another to dog or down your own people. GET A LIFE! :thumb:

As for Scott AND Oneida, I wish them nothing but luck seeing as how they are BOTH scott county's teams in different regions! :thumb:

  11. Though I have very limited experiences with addresses, I believe Scott High Drive is located in Huntsville these days, not only according to the TSSAA website and phone book, but....to their internet website as well:

    400 Scott High Drive

    Huntsville, TN 37756

If it were Helenwood, it would read:

    400 Scott High Drive

    Helenwood, TN 37755

As for writtenword, if you want to criticize, at least LEARN how to spell his name. I, for one, along with many, many others happen to think brother Garrett does a fine job with sports, although I will admit, my experiences with Scott County and their newspapers have been somewhat limited due to my not being from the area. When I am in the area I always pick up a copy of both papers, so.....I'd say be thankful for what you get and have...others aren't so lucky my friend!!

As for the Dean of Football (JD): JD is truly the dean, Jack Diggs that is!!
