  1. are you forgetting about patrick turner, goodpasture madison, tn?

Just a question, how is Lanxter getting recruited? Kid weighs a buck 25, and although fast, he wasn't necessarily as fast as the tops in BC last year. I'm not necessarily doubting him, he's a great young player. But last year, if you were to take away Brandon Warren, Alcoa would be hurting. Lindsey? Again, you'll be hurting. Lanxter? Well...Just my two cents. He needs to hit the weight room.

  2. So it's 4:26AM Cookeville time and I'm strolling into my dorm after an incredible party, and decide to log into CoachT (first time in awhile, might I add). To my surprise, I notice that my high school alma mater (Greenback) is a win from making the playoffs.

Unfortunately, I can no longer lend gamebreaking runs, hits or catches (okay, maybe not catches) but I can, however, wish you the best of luck, and of course give ridiculous advice and reminders:

-Oneida hasn't won against Greenback in awhile, so they want to do that.

-Hold onto the ball. If you have the ball, you can go in the endzone with it.

-YOU ARE PLAYING FOR THE PLAYOFFS. ONEIDA IS NOT.

And remember: Big players, make big plays, in big games. Clearly, you know who you all are.

That's pretty much it. The entire Cookeville sector of the Nation is rooting for you.

  3. what does everyone think about this contest.  what does greenback have this year?  how does sunbright match up with the cherokees?  what i have heard is that greenback has a good running back but that is where most of the offense is and if you stop him you have a chance.  sunbright, however is not very big or physical.  what is your all's opinion.

    sunbright 27

...Then why are you predicting Sunbright to win?

Anyway, Greenback gets their first win Friday. They got a few good tests, and it looks like they need to find some people in the secondary. They are a bit one-dimensional, and you just can't be one dimensional on defense. More receivers need to step up in practice, as do the DBs. If they hold on to the ball, and keep a level head, it should be a quality win. Have faith in your new system guys.

    Hmm, who cares.

Anyway, I don't know anything about Loudon, but uh, Greenback needs to hold on to the ball, be patient, and create some drives. They've got a big line up front, and they have to utilize it. I have a feeling that with Loudon's size, Greenback needs to have some people step up at receiver, so they won't be so one dimensional. Should be a good game to see how physical the cherokees are.

  5. It's going to come down to Greenback's D-line. One of South Pitts advantages is that they have an explosive receiver. Greenback must put pressure on the QB at all times, so he won't be able to throw, but still stay smart enough to watch for a screen or draw. With South Pitt's speed, that would be killer. Hopefully, the mostly senior line will play heads up football.

As for offense, if Greenback can hold on to the ball, and sustain drives, they will win.

  6. Greenback is running a completely different offense from last year, which, in my eyes, really brings out the best in their roster. They have a pretty meaty senior QB, and two RBs that are both really explosive. I believe the line consists mostly of seniors, I believe a left tackle or guard is the only underclassmen, and he's probably the strongest kid on the team.

I'd say Greenback's only disadvantage is the hit they'll be taking at their secondary. Mostly new kids, one junior returns from last year, but he had 7 picks. With the D-line, no one should have enough time to throw on them.

  7. Watched Greenback practice the other day, and although I hate to admit it, they look about 2 or 3 weeks ahead of last years team. They should win the battle up front with any team out of region 2. The coaching change, in my opinion, only seems to have had a positive effect. Depth might be a question, but at first glance, this team has a lot of guts, and look very poised to win the region title.
