  1. I just wanted to report what we have been up to. I will send results to the paper, so they will have records. Where do i start.

Game 1 - vs Cherokee GA. Shawn Kemp and co. were pretty good. they tripled Drew all game, he had a rough time. Travis Williams had a great game taking up the slack. he got 20, and 8 rebs. We hung around with them but just couldn't close the gap.

Game 2 - vs Dorsey CA. what incredible talent. long quick, big and could play. it was one of those just grab on tight and hang on. Drew was unconcious. 67 for the game, but it was bitter sweet as they beat us 102-98 in OT. Some mistakes cost us late. Travis, and Chaz shot well, Dominique Hobson gave late support as well.

Game 3 - earlier this evening. rematch with madisonville ky. jon hood (KY signee). we were tired, ready to come home but my guys did it with style. we beat them 85-57. Luke Jensen hit 6 threes to open things up for us. Chaz played great def. on Hood, especially late, hood didn't score much the last 4 min. of the game. Drew had 39 and 18, and Perry Carter came off the bench to board and play well. flu bug got to a couple of my other guys.

Im very proud of my team, we grew up alot and learned some great lessons. now if we can just win a dist. game lol.

just wanted to give my guys a plug I'm proud of them.

  2. Ok, I had to chime in here, just saw the post. I know this what this board is for, but it is kind of dangerous. To compare two high school players is a big grey area. Its fun if its harmless. Those who know me, will take my ugly sense of humor in stride. But I think where Drew will fit in best is left tackle. At his current rate, he might reach 280 by this time next year, and left tackles are the second in $$$$ on most rosters. But Im biased, I want a bass boat real bad. Seriously, I love Keiths game he has the total package, and first class all the way. thanks for the compliments on Drew, he is still just a baby though, gotta long way to go.

Victory is "oh so sweet" isn't it.....ohhh, wait, you wouldn't know would you? All you Centennial wackos keep talking about your "faith", as if its some kind of divine power sent by your premordial god that will allow you to defy all odds and win the game. Let's get it straight--Franklin is simply the better team. There is no question of that, and there never will be. The only reason that Lamont is at Centennial is because he couldn't hang in with the academics OR the athletics at Franklin. I'm just going to throw this out there, and you can take it or leave it: He is a complete and udder moron. Aside from that fact, there are several other reasons why centennial blows (i.e. the coaching, the bench, the fans, the list goes on). When all you whiny, sniviling Centennial "fans" will come to realize that, god only knows. Be sure to do your best, and good luck to you all the same--you sure will need it!

I'd like to end this post with a quote from a good man:

"Your best? Losers do their best. Winners go home and f*** the prom queen."

    -Sean Connery, The Rock

I just read this and this is way out of line, I dare you to come up and inroduce yourself to me. This is a sick post. This in no way supports what this site is suppose to do, and I don't think you represent the Franklin fans that I know. They are classy true sports fans. You have trashed a high school players name, the coach who is me, and I don't care what you say about me you don't have the guts to face me. And your last quote is totally out of line. Coach T, you need to stop this thread now.

  4. I do want all of you, to keep this in mind. Some of you are getting close to ugly on here. So tone it down some. Trash talk is half the fun, just keep it sporting and clean. Drew and I were talking earlier, he was down, hurt about the loss, but he looked at me and said "you know I got to admit I loved every second of it out there tonight." And he is right, the competition the spirit, even the officials, I would not trade anything for doing what we do, and the people who love to watch, play coach etc.

And yeah your right..... I can't get to sleep.

  5. Congrats IHS, you guys schooled us tonight. And I did get outcoached, I forgot to teach my young guns how to handle a senior laiden team who says ok you are not going to run us any more. Kouch did a great job of getting his mind under control and slowing the game down, and picking us apart.Coach Henrie did a great job of picking and chosing his traps. I am extrememly proud of my boys, we are still learning and getting better all of the time. I remember a bunch of IHS sophs who had to figure things out also. Here is the best part.... I get to coach a great bunch of kids tomorrow, and the next day, and we aren't even close to what we are going to be, but we are gettin there.

  6. Back to the topic. Are we getting twins from Trinity or not?

Way to start a topic and then just diappear streetballa. Or was this just a rumor? and you are laughing at all of us.

And if some of you are here at CHS, come and talk to me about this stuff, I will tell you how it really is.

And this really is me, Coach Kelly. The big and ugly.

  7. Obviously you havent seen Trinitys jv team. I am from Louisville Male, Trinitys JV would beat most Varsity teams and yes even Williamson Co. If this is true then Centennial will be most interesting the next couple of years. If it is the twins that I know of.

Shame on you mojack, who gave trinity their only loss this year? Thats right MBA and although not Willco. they are middle TN, the king of TN football. And guys quit with all the ambiguity give us names.

  8. Ill help you out, Centennial played man to man much of the night. Did not play much zone and if they did it was very little.

Franklin won because they played good defense and pressured the ball and forced CHS to commit turnover after turnover. They controlled the paint and forced kelly and harris to play along the permimeter to much. Franklin was quick with there passes and they way they shot the ball was impressive.

CHS lost because they couldnt handle the pressure. Turnovers killed them, very sloppy in protecting the ball. Defense was not to hot, did not play as quick as I expected. CHS was not very effective in the paint, was not able to get it inside as much as past games and franklin forced them to play along the 3-point arc.

Now we wait for game 2 in Jan.

I only have time to post this, then I gotta go.

I like your assesment of the game, it is pretty accurate.

We got an education last night. We did play man the whole game, It looked like a zone at times because all we did was stand around. We do have a pretty good zone, but you really can't go to a zone when you get down as quick as we did, the offense will just stand back and laugh at us. I think however it is time to use our zone a bit earlier. All of the credit needs to go to Franklin, they just whipped us. This might be the best Franklin team Ive seen in a while. They put on a clinic on the motion offense. Outstanding job rebs.

I was very please with my guys second half. We did not give up, in fact we outscored them 34-32, but you must put two halves together. We are relatively young, and are going to keep getting better.

Students, way to turn out, you guys are the best, keep doing that for us, we will keep working hard to make you proud of us. I love the stripe shirts.

  9. I just saw this, I am only responding because we were mentioned.

We aren't going anywhere. I love football and I love it here at CHS. I will not be coaching football next year, but I will help in what ever way I can (weights, labor, etc.) I need to give my spot up for a new coach to get real football help (and I am talking about me). I was just a support kind of guy the rest of the staff blow me away when it comes to football knowlege etc. Basketball is my passion, so I will go full tilt at that.

Drew is not going anywhere either, we are cougars till they lock us out.

Just one more word, then I am going to be a little busy for the next few months.

Centennial students are the best, keep it up, stay positve, and keep being real fans that you are.

    See you on the court.

    Coach BK

  10. This is close to my heart. As a college basketball player I blew out my left ankle about once a month. My kids have had at least one severe one each. I am still searching for an answer. I do know that if you come down on a foot there is not much you can do. Braces and tape can lesson the serverity of the injury. I try to get my athletes to strengthen in the off season, that is the best personal prevention method. I am doing a lot a reading on proprioceptive training.(balance boards, sponge platforms etc.) I think this could help a lot. Improve the ankles own ability to right itself in a time of over stretching. (sprain) The injury I want to see improved upon is the non-confrontational injury. The one when the joint or bone just gives on its own. That seems to be the one that is hurting a lot of kids.

Click on above link for Jeff Lockridge's article in "The Tennessean" about the BIVT

Annie Kelly is from Centennial not Independence. I have not heard any more reports on her condition. Sorry to hear the news this morning. Hopefully, the injury will not be serious.

Annie is OK, nothing broken. We took her to get x-rays last night, all negative. Just a bad sprain. I have had her hooked up to e-stim today and ice, and the swelling is getting better already. 2 weeks and she should be ok. She has gotten a lot of calls today, we sure do appreciate the thoughts. Everyone keep working hard and pray for each other.

  12. is he the the kid with the afro ?

The guy with the afro is Matt Mixer, he moved here this summer from Mich. Drew is a bit thicker than Matt and an inch shorter.

Mojack, thanks for your support of Drew, I did not want to start him this year, but we have some injuries that leave me no choice. Right now Drew is very blessed, and he works very hard. And his physical side comes from his mom, not me. He has heard from some colleges already, but my college coaching past has opened an earlier door for him than most. I think his grandfather has a little bit to do with that also.

Harris Hooligans, I detected some cynicism in you about his age. He just turned 15 yesterday, I got him the new Star Wars video. ha ha. So please keep talk on the board positive as it should be with any player on here. When he gets older and a little more mature, then you can light in to him all you want. But he would rather you come up to him in person to do that, as I would also. I do hope he has a chance to play against your freshman this year. I have heard great things about them, and look forward to the competetion.

  13. This might help. The head coach from New Hope told me and some coaching colleagues, that they took a letter from the IHSAA proving that they were a probationary memeber of the IHSAA. A school must apply and serve three years before they are a full member. This must have affected the status of the shcool as the TSSAA saw it.

  14. We basically decided to just play area tournaments, and wrapp it up in Louisville on the 20th. A lot of kids had full schedules, baseball, football etc.

As far as Drew goes, he will start working out with my teams, when school is out, weight program, speed work, team camps etc., so he will not have much time for any other team in the summer. He will also take some time off, let his body heal and grow, and give his mind a rest too before football starts up.

  15. bkelly, do you know if this team needs any more players.  I'm trying to find a good team for my 14 year old son.  He's played point guard for GraMar Middle School.

    825650923[/snapback]

We have 13 guys right now. We are not going to play much longer, 2 more tournaments I think. Not going to any sub-state or state tournaments. We have a lot of kids going on to high school camps, football etc. when school is over. So we decided to play locally, and finish in May. If you want , you can email me and I will respond with the coaches phone number for you. briank@wcs.edu
