Mark this down! TCA will play in the state ch-ship game in D2 next year.  D2 is incredibly weak and TCA will be way better next year when the 8th graders that got minutes this year get some starts.  If I am correct, they graduate only one starter and she was subbed out tonight for one of the 8th graders in the 4th qtr.

but a D2 is a weak state champ...state champ over what....6-7 other teams?...play with the 50-60 public schools in their classification that don't recruit and play what gets off that yellow bus instead of what gets out of that Lexus....

I’m really curious as to why you keep pushing this idea lol.  You are the only one it seems that acts like greenfield doesn’t deserve to be right up there with them.  They are the champs and until someone knocks them off they have to be right there.

didn't Gibson Co. beat Greenfield this year?

Yeah and they still win. That was indeed one of the biggest BS calls I have ever seen. That ref ought to never be able to ref again. GC lucky to win that game. That call itself would have sunk most teams. TCA got tired late I thought and the two or three TO's late cost them. But they are a good team and Ned to be in the top 5 in the state. They can beat anybody in the state.

GC got lucky to win the game? and TCA got tired late?...hmm....that's been GC's strategy all season...run in and out 10 players and never miss a beat...I guess that's why they're 26-2 and #1 in the state...

Believe what you like brother. His family lived in Blount County. I sat with them during Austin’s time at Alcoa. Had his family moved to Knoxville, he would have paid tuition to attend. Just like all the other 99.9% of open zone high schools in the state of TN...

IMO...any school that can get players from out their zone lines and especially out of their county should have to go D2...they become just like privates....recruit and pay "tuition"....I suspect their "tuition" is based on their 40 yd dash times....

Yeah, he filled me in. The qb’s name was??? You didnt “realized”? Okay...

if BPM "fulled" you in, I didn't "realized"...he's my best bud....looks like we both had bad spelling teachers...lol...

Never mind. We all know you can’t. Nice try tho. :thumb: BPM fulled me in. You obviously took too many kicks to the head in the 80’s.

BPM "fulled" you in?....OK...2009...Gold Ball game in Cookeville...Milan-Alcoa...was talking with a married couple I graduated with in Milan ...they said their son was the starting QB for Alcoa....I said I didn't realized they lived in Alcoa...they said they didn't...they lived with their son in Knoxville...???....and I took my kicks to the head in the 70's...not the 80's....I'm old...lol...

Covington has come out the gate slower against McNairy & SG. Both of those teams could have easily been the two seed in the region. I think the Cov coaching staff will have the kids fired up ready to play from the kickoff Friday night. I know Milan remember the lose last year in the playoffs and the one they took earlier in the season so I know they will be ready to play too. Looking forward to a good game. Win or GO Home.

    GO CHARGERS!

win and host the semi-final......either a 5-8 Stratford or an 11-2 Fairview...I don't see Milan or Cov having any problem there...then on to Cookeville to face...rut ro...that East Tennessee all star team aka Alcoa...they're not bound by any zone lines and can get players from where ever...all those Gold balls for them should have an asterisk on them....west TN teams play with what gets off that yellow bus....OK....I'm off my soap box....lol...

Thanks for the well wishes Boog. And you are right. We are only good for about 4tds per game. But the good thing is it only takes one.... :)

my 2 cents worth (on sale) is Covington has slacked up a little since cruising through most of the season...2 pt. conversion away from losing to SGC....beating a 3 seed by 5 at home....on the other hand Milan has won 6 in a row after a brutal early schedule...the combined record of 3 of the teams that beat them is 35-1....all 4 of their losses came to eventual region champs....just puttin that out there to hope this time around will be closer....

  9. I think both teams are very young....Milan is young all over...with a bunch of speed.....lose 3 yr starting QB ...but talent everywhere else...SGC is young and gonna be scary good the next few years...maybe one of us can break the Covington stronghold on the region....

Cofo, classless, complete classless, not surprised though.  See you next year.

classless?...how?....your team loses and my team wins...either  team will prob will lose next week at Covington...but SGC and Milan both had great seasons....see ya at Wal Mart...lol....

    Congrats Milan!

Good luck next week. It looks like it will be a road trip to Covington. If you guys play as well as you did tonight I would expect it to be close.

3 turnovers..... Can not beat a good team when you have 3 turnovers. The pick 6 was a back breaker for SGC. It really was the turning point in the game. Milan took full advantage of the other 2 and turned them into points. Seemed like there were 30 plus minutes of play with the score knotted at 13-7..

Honestly if you would have said that SGC would win a playoff game and finish the season with a 500 record I would have literally bet the farm. They continued to get better and better as the season wore on and came miles from where they were in the spring. Proud of our kids. Till next season.

Again congrats to the dogs and good luck next Friday.

    GO HORNETS!

O and cofo... well nevermind not worth my time.

thanks  million....SG fans are sooo humble...not...

I almost started a GoFundMe for the head coach from Freedom Prep that was on here talking crap the other day... he was complaining that Lake County didn't pay them the gas money that they were supposed to have paid them when they came up earlier this year...

As for this game, Milan tends to pass around a bucket at each home game to take up donations for the referees... no GoFundMe needed for this one....

referees won the game tonight?...Milan kicked the bumblebees arse and made them like it...next question?.....South Gib fans blaming everyone except the players and the coaches...have a nice off season....

Winner of the game goes to quarter finals to play either McNasty or Covington. Hopefully this game will not be effected in the magnitude the first game was by the officiating.

Looking forward to another great game between the rival schools.

if Milan plays next week like they did tonight, SGC will have no trouble with the Dawgs....Milan...8 fumbles...lost 3...lots of stupid penalties...2 personal fouls and an offensive face mask...all in the first half...every time Milan had a big play it resulted in either a fumble or a penalty...Milan won 20-7 in a game they should have won by 40...coach Teddy has alot of work to do this week... and admit it...the winner of this game will go to Covington...

A poster said a few weeks back that Region 7-3A would sweep their opponents in Round 1. I disagreed, but that poster turned out to be prophetic. Covington, South Gibson, Milan, and McNairy County all advanced tonight. I guess that supports the Commercial Appeal article last week that called this the strongest region in 3A.

That's the good news, or maybe it's the bad news. It means that if we can keep winning, my Covington team will have home field advantage all the way through the semi-finals. OTOH, it means that the next two weeks we could face two opponents from our region who know us very well and play us extremely tough.

Whoever advances from our region after Rounds 2 and 3 will certainly be battle-tested and ready to face the next opponent in the semi-finals.

no surprise 7-3A swept the Memphis teams...big game in Milan next week vs. South Gibson...if Milan plays next week like they played tonight....SGC will roll...Milan seemed unfocused....8 fumbles...lost 3...stupid penalties...2 personal fouls and an offensive face mask...in the 1st half...coach Teddy has alot of mistakes to correct this week or the dawgs will be getting out the basketballs...and we all knows how that has been going the past decade or so...

I have some family down in that area, my cousin was a senior the year Chester won a good amount of games, and he loved Hodum.

you made my point...CC prin micro-manages and has run off alot of good teachers-coaches...he was head fb coach at CC back in the late 90's and had a horrible record...he should have fired himself....

Head coach from last year not there anymore? I met him at the championship game and probably set and talked football with him for about 45 minutes. Nice guy, seemed like he probably was a good coach.

no...he "resigned" and took the hc job at Fayette-Ware....not exactly a promotion....CC prin not easy to work for...I know from personal experience...

Chester’s football program has gone down big time. This should be a running clock if not at the half it will be quick in the 3rd quarter.

CC's principal ran off a good coach last year and look what he got....running clock for Springfield probably starting in pre-game...

Nope. Game was won at LOS.

Nope. Maryville is the defending 6A state champion, had a 76 game home win streak, hasn't lost a region game in 18 years, has 12 state championships since 2000 and is 143-4 in the regular season since 2004.

Can't take the win from those kids by saying "Its just a rivalry game, those can go either way" . Disrespectful to both programs and their kids.

Since 2000, name a season when Alcoa gets a win over Maryville and doesn't go undefeated....I'll wait.

great stats from the past....but didn't 3A Alcoa beat 6A Maryville this year?
