BPM don't get on here and spit out blasphemy! You know I hate dogs more than Micheal Vick.

you can hate him even more cause Milan came back and won...down 11 in the 4th and won 27-24...that makes the McNairy -Milan  series now 17-2 Milan all time...and that made  the Milan -South Gib game in 2 weeks even more interesting...South Gib was down 14 at Covington with 6 or so minutes to play...SG came back to score 2 tds to make it a 1 point game w/12 seconds left...SG went for 2 and didn't get it...hats off to Coach Stidham and SGC for a great game....everyone thought this would be another blow out game for the Chargers...wake up call for Cov....that 2nd straight Silver ball is not a guarantee (nobody's gonna come within 30 points of that East TN all star team...aka Alcoa)

I don’t have a dog in this race & my team obviously has issues of their own to work out but I do have mutual friends from both GC & Trenton & I will say this. Trenton may be posting on social media about how they should have won & the bad calls but GC fans have also been posting like they just won the state championship by beating Peabody. Storming the field & all the little hashtags being used on social media is a little much for a regular season game. I’ve never seen so many GC posters on Coach T unless it was pertaining to girls basketball. Congrats to GC on the win & good luck the rest of the season. That being said, I think this was a good wake up call for Peabody & if they were to meet up with GC again, Trenton wins by 30+.

win by 30 plus and they can't gain a half yard in 4 plays?...really??...I think even Peabody fans will admit the hail Mary against Milan was a 1 in a 100 shot...GC's goal line stand was also a 1 in a 100 shot....that's football...

IDK... I've never heard it discussed one way or the other. We haven't played each other in any sports since South Gibson was built. It doesn't matter to me either way if it's played. I feel our "rivalry game" is Peabody.

chill...I'm a GC guy all the the way...I sub there....

Congratulations to Coach Finley and the Pioneers for a great win.  I saw him do this for years at Cheatham County from 2002-2012 where he would take a team of hard working overachiever winners and knock off giants.  He's a great football coach and GCHS is lucky to have him

agree...so now GC is the best football team in Gibson county?...when was the last time that happened?...with Milan...Trenton...Humboldt...South Gibson (who won't play GC)

But every post I have read, says Peabody is unbeatable? How could this happen?

it happened because Peabody fans, players and coaches are cocky....they thought they could throw their jerseys on the field and win by 50...welcome to the real world Trenton...all that high priced coaching staff sucked tonight....GC's Coach Finley is Coach of the year...live with it...

Yes. I was very happy with the offense and the defense made you guys earn everything. Great to see this young team play with a ton of heart. Told ya you guys would have to be able to throw the ball to beat us and look what happened in the 4th. Hats off to Baugus. He put it right on the money. Good to meet you too bro!!

that game will go down as one of the best in the 97 meetings between the 2 schools...back and forth the whole game...especially the 2nd half..I bet Coach Kilzer and Coach Tucker were watching it up there sharing a box of popcorn....

There are a number of teams worthy of consideration. Two teams come to mind which are worth mentioning.

Murfressboro Central 1970 - Undefeated and Dominent all season. Destroyed a good Melrose team in the championship game 36-0

Melrose 1996 - 3 current NFL Players Cedrick Wilson (Steelers), Andre Lott (Redskins), Kindal Moorehead (Panthers) who were starters. A 4th current NFL player , Dewayne Robertson (Jets) was a Freshman. In addition, WR, Kevin Taylor was All State and the number 10 rated college prospect n the state. A fifth player, DE David Paine, went on to be 1st team all USA Today in 98

1998 Milan won 2A gold ball....1999 Milan won 3A gold....only team in TSSAA history to win a gold one year and move up a class and win it again....more than 1 source said 1999 Milan was the best team of all classifications that played that weekend.....

Peabody lost the key that drives their car... I’m not sure how much of a contender they will be now honestly. Peabody still has a lot of talent on their team but when your main guy is “out indefinitely” that throws a wrench in their plans without a doubt. I’m so glad to hear he is okay & expected to make a full recovery. Praying for him & his family.

ditto fight....but when the coach says "out indefinitely" to me that's coach speak for "he's out for the year"...I hope that's not the case...

All that is true but I would Like to dispute one. I sat With coach Abernathy at the sports south jamboree last year. He was there to watch 2 of his players play football. I asked Him point blank does he discourage basketball players from playing football. He said absolutely not. In fact he said he wished more played because high school is the extent of their playing careers and they need to be involved completely. Coach would not lie. Intense and I have Known coach Abernathy for many years and I believe him. To me that is a rumor blown up. Just my 2 cents which does not mean much.

I stand corrected....that was just the rumor I've heard the past few years....but it was just that...a rumor

Jackson Sun article gives a little more info than Donovan Stewart posted. One of the factors cited was a lack of commitment during spring practice.

I've heard of 3 main probs with Humboldt football....lack of community support...I've been to a few home games the last few years at Barker Memorial and there were literally "tens" of fans in the stands...lack of commitment...hard to get players to come to practice....and thirdly...I've heard that the boys basketball coach "discourages" his players from playing football which means the best athletes in the school are in the gym instead of the football field and with a school that small you need your best athletes playing every sport they can...I think Coach Nowell noticed these real quickly during spring practice and that's why he decided to bail....I could be wrong....just my opinion...

Humboldt job just opened back up Danny Nowell has resigned and Jackson North Side just promoted a assistant coach to head coach after letting their old one go the new Jackson North Side coach is Jesse Powell

Nowell quit after going through spring practice with them...he saw the impossible situation he was getting into....it's sad what the once proud and respected Humboldt football program has become....
