  1. Was listening to the game on the radio and heard the starter's named when they would score and the announcers wondered why he would leave the starters in for fear of one getting hurt when they had about a 40 point lead, this was late in the 3rd qtr. Just odd that the announcers made comment on this. Sorry - not meant to offend. Running up the score can come back to haunt ya later if your not careful.
  2. Thought Cloudland should have taken the starters out a little earlier, beating up on a very weak team is not a great victory. Even the radio announcers made comments on this. But I guess a win is a win.
  3. Just remember after next year you will probably be moving back up to 2A and that's a whole different ballgame, or so you guys think.
  4. Sorry to say but I don't think Unaka has enough guns to beat Cloudland and there is a mental thing there - has been for years. Probably will still be a good game to watch and the Rangers still get to go to Regionals and could get a sub-state bid.
  5. Just because Hampton has been winning at home doesn't necessarily mean they will win on the road. UH has a pretty even shooting attack, it should be a very interesting game.
  6. Sorry to hear this for Josh. Maybe he will be able to make it back for some of the baseball season. Best of Luck.
  7. Are you sure that Josh broke his leg - heard earlier that it was a deep bruise. Just curious. I didn't think Josh wanted to play at the next level. Another curious question???
  8. Glad to see you guys got this one - you needed it. That's 9 consecutive conference titles. Best of Luck in the post season. Does anyone know where the districts will be played? Will it be at Milligan or Chuckey Doak? Seen on TSSAA that the Regionals will be at LMU. Long trip but nice facilities.
  9. Play like you really want it. Don't let up. Best of Luck to the Rangers!
  10. No, it wasn't a bad year but if you don't win in the post season, you get to call it a season as they did. With all the hype of them going back to state, BIG let down. There was alot of turmoil among them last year although alot won't admit it - but that's dead and gone and yes there are some playing at the next level and that's great too. But, I think too much emphasis is put on the amount (total) scored over a career and sometimes that can hurt the overall team effort. Like I said not wanting to make anyone mad.
  11. Since these are conference games - everybody has something to play for - CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS. All games in your conference are important and I think everybody wants to win this time around.
  12. [ And though this game isn't about "individualism," per se, last season, Unaka had a couple players withing reach of the 1,000 point plateau. The Happy Valley cancellation and that of another team robbed them of a legitimate shot at reaching that goal. Oh well. The 1000 pt club might have been part of the problem last year, hope it doesn't come into play as a problem the next few years. Remember there is no "I" in team. Winning the important games should be what matters, not who's scoring and reaching that plateau. Not meaning to ruffle feathers just making an observation and voicing an opinion.
  13. How does eveyone think this one will go? It's at the Dawg House and everybody usually plays better in their house.
  14. You might want to calm down and do your talkin on the court. Seems like you guys also lost at Cloudland this year. Maybe you can only play at your house.
  15. Should be a close one - don't know who I would give the advantage to. Both are well coached and have really good shooters.
  16. How did Cosby keep Lowe from scoring? Noticed he only had like 8 points.
  17. Great reply Ranger87 - you might want to email your friendly Starman and tell him that you are working on your 9th consecutive Conference Title instead of 8 as he had listed in the paper yesterday. There again are those FACTS that seem to get lost in the shuffle.
  18. Funny Thing is that they stopped the game and the scorebook for both teams showed the same score. You might want to talk to the officials if you have a beef.
  19. But you got to remember the Landers will be on their home floor for the Unaka game - they are tough on their own turf.
  20. Can Unaka sustain the intensity that the Cloudland game called for? Tough to have two crucial conference games within days of each other especially when one lasted about 3 hours. I think they will have to come with their "A" game to beat UH. But got to consider Unaka will be on their home floor again. Best of Luck to the Rangers!
  21. Both had a hard time putting it in the hole. But some clutch shots were made by both teams for the 7 OT's. Also some easy shots were blown that could have ended the game alot earlier.
  22. On the news it said that on TSSAA that 9 overtimes was the record. The game started about 8:00 and lasted until 11:00. One more overtime and they would have played another complete game. Both teams had to be fatigued physically and mentally. Exciting Game to Watch. Congratulations to the Rangers!!
