  1. Livingston Academy is a tough out at home. Hard to escape Hog-Eye with a win. If I am not mistaken LA has only lost 3 games at home in the last 2 seasons and those were to Ensworth by 1, Howard by 2, & CPA by 7....

Looking back at it, LA has lost only these three games at home in the last three years...

  2. CPA has Jalen Lindsay. He is one of the top 15 ranked freshman in the country. I believe he was MVP of the district last season as an 8th grader. He is at least 6/6 and unbelievably good and only getting better. Bradshaw and Lindsay have a nice supporting cast that play extremely hard for Coach Maddux at CPA. They will be a contender.

Also, don't sleep on Alcoa. They won the summer team camp tourney at Maryville College which included good teams like Livingston Academy, Gatlinburg Pittman, Knox Central, Anderson County, etc. While it was only the summer and lots of factors must be weighed, they still won it. They will have a chance with all their athletes to make a run. They will probably start slow considering the majority of their team will be trying to win their 50th straight state football championship.

True Alcoa has a good team. They beat LA in the championship game of the Maryville College camp by about 7 points. LA was playing in their 6th or 7th straight day of camps and had some guys who'd left that played the day before when they beat Alcoa by about 30 points. LA was completely exhausted in that last game. I think LA beat Knox Central in the semis and Alcoa beat GP in theirs. Taking nothing from Alcoa, though. They have a good team.

  3. It's time that the "silent majority" drop the silent part. I'm for Soddy Daisy and all other schools who have the dedication to pray in public. All of us need to encourage our local schools to do the same. If everyone is doing it, it's going to be much more difficult for these disruptive civil rights groups to infringe on OUR rights more than they already have. LETS STAND TOGETHER and do what we know is right. It's time for us to stand up as CHRISTIANS!

  4. Who is hosting play days this November and what teams will be there. It would be nice to have a schedule of each one, too. LA plays Craigmont, Union City, and Bolivar at Liberty Tech on the 6th. The Wildcats are in for a tough day for sure there. Not sure who they play at Harpeth on the 13th. What other teams will be at these and other playdays?

  5. What play days are these teams going to? LA is going to Liberty Tech on the 6th to play Craigmont, Union City, and Bolivar. Not sure who they play at Harpeth on the 13th, but the competition on the 6th seems to be....top notch. Tough day indeed. If this doesn't get a team ready, I don't know what will.

  6. The June 3-5 Wilson Central Team Camp looks to have some good teams this summer. Those I know of on the schedule are Ravenwood, Wilson Central, Livingston Academy, CPA, Cannon County, Gallatin, Hunters Lane, Stratford, Dickson County, Centennial, Marshall County, White House, Macon County, Riverdale, Cascade, Shelbyville, Overton, MJCA, Community, Lebanon, Culleoka, Webb, Smith County, Eagleville, Red Boiling, Jackson County, Westmoreland, Shelbyville, Northwest, Creekwood.

    Here's LA's schedule:

June 3 vs Riverdale, Smyrna, Dickson County

June 4 vs Gallatin, Marshall County, Ravenwood

June 5 vs Lebanon, Wilson Central, CPA

Notes: LA will be without two of its three seniors this week. Looks like a tough schedule with only two AA teams in CPA and Marshall County. Will CPA's new transfer be there? Will Johnson be with Marshall County. Marshall and LA are scheduled to play each other in regular season next year too.

  7. I didn't see the LA game but the games I've seen Wheaton call he is ok, worse than some but better than most;now I did see the PC, CLAY CO. game and Coach Bibb rode the refs hard, Wheaton didn't call the T, the short bald man did but Wheaton and Case both warned both benches several times, and after Greg got the T he was warned to stay seated and he did but his assistants continued to question calls and be up on floor and this is not allowed by most refs and they could have called at least 3 more T's if they wanted to. Now I'm as bad as anyone to get anoyed at bad call;s on my team but these guys are right more than we admit and in my 40 plus years of watchind bb I can count on one hand the times a ref has decided a game, now nearly all we lost in my mine at the time but when all said and done my team got a call I didn't see or I saw it wrong or our team just didn't execute. And the refs are human if a coach continously rides them and made insulting remarks its natural to take offense same as a coach if the ref continues to give every judgement call to the other team and does it agressive the coach is also human but after all said and done both are pretty good guys and are friends again after the drama wears down.

I agree. I have always thought Wheaton was fair and under control. However, his actions at TTU should not be tolerated. It was the first time Melton questioned anything. It was early in the game. LA was up 13-1 at the time and after the next 5 or 6 angry calls NOT in favor of LA were made, LA's players tensed up some and the game changed. Maybe it would have anyway, but we will never know that. These actions didn't determine the winner/loser of the game in this case, but that doesn't change what happened.

LA has already moved on, but it'd be a shame for this to happen to anyone else.

  8. I've been a member of this board a LONG time and rarely post but I have to say I've never seen a school's fans COMPLAIN, WHINE AND DO MORE WHINING about refs like Livingston. Win or lose...the refs are out to get them...

Geez...you guys are sounding like bitter bettys...

How rare is it that fans of so many different schools in one district ever agree on something. But it is happening here. So wonderingman's stab a LA fans really has no merit. This is now about officials abusing power, not about one team or another being better than the other. So far, LA, York, and Upperman, and Smith Co. fans given unbiased accounts of what they witnessed at TTU. Coach Melton questioned a call and Wheaton completely lost his cool, verbally attacked him, and immediately began to make calls not necessarily in favor of Upperman, but against LA. He showed obvious anger toward LA's bench when reporting them as well. We all saw it. It was very unprofessional. We don't want to see any of our coaches treated that way, whether they are from LA or any other school.

When a coach talks to a ref in the manner that Wheaton talked to Melton, the refs have the power to call a technical or even remove that coach from the game. What power does a coach have when the tables are turned? None.

  9. Anyone know if this game is still on for tonight?

    Wildcat70

I have heard that they are going to play. more for the girls than anything, the boys game will be a slaughter if Godwin and Hensley are out again! :hungry:

As much respect as I have for the JC coaching staff...I dont think Godwin or Hensley can help in another blow out. LA big with or with out those two. I do hope they get healed up for tourney time.

    83-38 LA.

  10. YUCKAMUCK - Why should Coach Melton have to self-motivate. He his suppose to do that to his players! I do not think I said I hated Coach Melton, In fact is a good coach that gets what he want's from his players. dry.gif
I wondered about that self motivation thing myself. YUCK must be close with the coach to know that. Sounded like an impressive showing today for LA. Apparently B.Jackson hasn't quit.

This just keeps going doens't it. But I'm just as guilty as anyone for keeping it going. Maybe this explanation will clear the motivation thing up for Sweetwater and Pianoman. How many times have you seen LA boys play under Coach Melton that they weren't motivated? My guess is very few times. Knowing him as Piano says I do, he will take all the negative and positive, motivate himself, and in turn keep his players motivated as Sweetwater stated a coach is supposed to do. If he gets what he wants from his players, he apparently motivates them.

  11. piano. i hope you continue to pick out negatives while keeping coacht surfers enlightened. you are nothing if not entertaining. happy holidays to you and LA and everyone else that i'm close to. Like many fans if you can't be there in person you are listening or checking box scores. always in the know.
You are telling me that if you only listen to the game, you can't have an opinion. People can't always make it to the games. Negative? I thought I said impressive showing. I figured about as well as LA has played so far. Jackson sounded like he played well. Only making an observation and happy holidays to you as well.

No. i'm not telling you that you can't have an opinion just by listening to the games. Never said that. Negative? Just in your own positive sort of way. Not so much from yesterday's post about the East Literature game, more from earlier posts. You said you listen to the radio and check box scores at times to keep up. If checking box scores and listening to the radio is how you keep up, how do you have enough knowledge to question so many decisions?...like who does and who doesn't get to play. Only making an observation and thanks for the holiday wishes.

  12. piano. i hope you continue to pick out negatives while keeping coacht surfers enlightened. you are nothing if not entertaining. happy holidays to you and LA and everyone else that i'm close to. Like many fans if you can't be there in person you are listening or checking box scores. always in the know.

  13. Indian. Oldkodger started this thread and however he worded it, he went on to give his opinion of one of the best freshman and even gave his reasoning. Pianoman just has negative sarcasm for Livingston Academy. Apparently doesn't like something about the coach or the program there. It's kind of an ongoing thing that is quite humorous.

  14. All this celebrating.....to each his own opinion I guess. However one fact remains. None of us can predict what exactly will happen in this district. LA has had a few ups and downs in this early season even though they have one of maybe the youngest teams in the midstate...and they are 3-0 in the district and 8-3 overall. LA only won by 8 or 9 last year at Dekalb County. It's never easy to win there or anywhere in the district. Probably no surprise to LA's coach. Isn't it funny that people from other schools get on here bashing LA's coach and no one else. I guess when you are that successful it makes people hate you and want so see you fail.

Here's more food for thought. LA may not win every district game in the regular season. But I guarantee you this.....no one wants to be on their side of the bracket in the post season. One more thing. Go ahead and take your jabs at Coach Melton. He will continue to self motivate and when he gets his team where he thinks it should be, well, I think you know what may happen. But hey. Get them if you can and get them now. There's no telling how good they are going to be....and then next year? And the next? and the next? :thumb:

  15. I love how people get on this website and start a thread like they are interested in anybody other than the kid or coach they are trying to promote. Hilarious

I suppose everyone could be like you and make a majority of their posts negative. Personally, I much prefer posts like the one on this thread by 'oldkodger' that you are apparently referring to. I believe the promotion of a player or players in a positive manner, regardless of the motive, helps promote the greatest game that exists, 'high school basketball'. Hopefully some day you'll get over your bitterness so that you can then enjoy watching the game like most of the rest of us who post here do. :thumb:

Come on rabbit. Misery loves company. Pianoman knows that it is much more professional to get on a site like this and insult people for any number of childish reasons. I wonder if piano is really this miserable in real life. Poor guy. Maybe life would be better with a new hobby.

  16. Piano, real LA fans appreciate your concern but realize that you obviously have an ax to grind, so when you can't find anyone to listen you get on coacht and grind away. As if you didn't already know, you'll be glad to know that Brad hasn't quit. He's there supporting his team.
