What does everyone think about this... what would be the impact on the level of play and participation if AAU didn't allow players to play up? Would there be cheating? What if you could play up only if there were no teams your age within a predetermined geographic area?

Anybody know anything about the 11U Lady Trotters team from TN that won the YBOA National Championship?

Anybody in West TN know any details about this event? I plan on going over to Memphis that weekend to watch the games. I've heard that other than the State Championships this will be about the most competitive HS football event in the state of TN. Who's the teams and players to watch? CBHS vs Whitehaven, strength vs speed, which will it be? BHS vs Melrose, is this the game of the week? Quite a few D1 prospects between these two teams. What are the other games being played?

ddpanther, Yes you are right, several of the teams from TN did well, KGC had good run this year, back-to-back state champs, won a close game over the Waves at state. 4th place finish at nationals. Top Guns played well and have improved greatly, played well at state and nationals. Waves came up short this year, didn't play well at state. Tough pool and brackets at nationals, direct result of their performance at state. Too bad, good team heard this was their last year. TN Tigers were a complete surprise this year, be on the watch for this team next year, one or two more players and they'll be really tough. Belles upset the waves at state but struggled afterwards, hopefully they will retool and be back next year. Didn't make it out of pool play at nationals. Hers's a thought, for the coaches of this age group, combine the former waves players with the TN Tigers and #3 from the Belles. Can you say 'National Champions', maybe ?

Anybody know who was on the TN Tigers Select team? Were any of these players on the former Memphis Blackhawks team that won AAU Nationals a few years back?

If you don't like something then don't participate or concern yourself with it, MOVE ON and start your own AAU team(s) with whatever sponsor you can get... ENOUGH is ENOUGH....

glass eye, If your report is accurate, this is really an embarrassing and poor representation for the SE/TN assoc. DO PARENTS realize they represent our state on a National level. It's hard to think that adults would conduct themselves like this at Nationals. Memphis folks, keep your dirty laundry and ill feelings towards each other in Memphis, it doesn't belong at the AAU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS... PARENTS really need to get a GRIP...

Does anyone know what controversy happened with the 16U Showboats?

OK, its SHOWTIME folks...In less than 48 hours we'll have the State CHAMPIONS....Who will it be? Hmmm...Lets see... Will the Memphis Elite repeat? Will KGC repeat? The Elite look really strong, strong chance they'll repeat, with the former waves players added they will be very difficult to beat. KGC will have their hands full with an opener against the Top Guns, then they will have to face the Belles or the Waves in the first round. I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm picking the Waves to win it, but the Belles and Guns are going to make it tough, either team could win themselves. Time will tell....

Will there be any live updates from the 11U and 13U State tournaments this weekend?

OK All you 11U & 13U teams, coaches and fans the State Championships are getting closer and closer. So get all those practices in, practice those layups and free-throws. Good luck to all....... whats the predictions? Will these games be web casted live like the 12U Tournament? That was really nice...

Hmm.. sounds good, Did KGC play the Knoxville Lady Tarheels that finished third in the East sub-state tournament? I Checked the 11U State brackets, the KGC and Top Guns matchups should be interesting and provide good insight to each other. The Memphis Elite and Crushers will be a toss up. The Raiders will have their hands full with the waves. The Belles should get by the Lady Tigers. The games to watch will be the KGC vs Top Guns and Waves vs Belles, this will probably be a preview of the final four on Sunday.

iou1uc, I had a conversation with a group of parents from the former Waves program, they said the Waves concluded their program, for several reasons; the executive directors that ran the organization for 10+ years wanted to retire and no replacement volunteers stepped up. It was not that they were unhappy, they just wanted spend more time with their own families. Anyone who has coached or ran an organization of this magnitude knows the amount of personal time and commitment required for it to be successful. The core coaching staff also wanted to move on for family reasons, it’s difficult to be a top level team without top level coaches. I know from experience it’s also difficult to find quality people and coaches who are willing to volunteer their time and efforts and make such a huge personal commitment, some without children on the team. In some cases parents can make good coaches, but it's very difficult for most parents to be fair and objective when it comes to making decisions concerning their child. The Waves do have an 11U team this year, they’ll probably win the state next weekend, they’re a very strong team, and a 15U team that finished 4th in the state. They were not sure what’s going to happen next year with these teams. Anyway, that’s what happened to the Waves according to the parents.

Looks like this years 11U State tournament will be very interesting. The top guns appear be getting stronger, KGC will do well and could possibley repeat, Lady Belles will make a strong run if #3 plays well, haven't seen the waves since the M'boro SRT they'll be tough. My pick for the team to watch would be the top guns, they'er an upset primed to happen. 1 Waves or KGC 2 KGC, Belles or Top Guns 3 Belles or Top Guns 4 Raiders The KGC / Top Guns game will be interesting. The Waves / Belles rematch should be a good one also.

If the two players you mentioned are from Memphis and played with last years state championship team from memphis, then why didn't they play their to begin with this year? Travel accross the state to be picked up by a local team in your hometown? Hmmmm...very interesting.

The GA Majic won, not sure who finished 2nd. The majic lost to Indiana's Finest by 1 in pool play, beat the Top Guns by 1, and beat KGC. One surprise was the GA Pistols upset of KGC. Overall it was a very well run tournament, put it on your calendar for next year.
