Reviez is just two weeks out of Football and not in wrestling shape yet. The rest of the Farragut team aside from Knox and Dix are young with five Freshman starting at this point and your correct in stating that a solid 14 man line up would beat Farragut. However the line-up now will have few changes after Dec. 25th and those changes should improve their dual match team. If memory serves me correct about this time last year Farragut was the subject of negative comments but finished the year 4th in the state with 3 state finalist. That could very well be the case again this year. I know the Farragut coaches always what to wrestle well but they know that the region and state tournaments are the final judge of the strength of a team. Team and personal ranking are good for talk and nothing else.Currently there are many stronger teams Bradley ,Franklin, Clarksville, and Cleveland just to name some in division 1. Farragut is a hard working team and for the first time in at least ten years have a full line up and several backups. I personally believe that in Feb. they will make a good showing for Region 2 at the state tournament.

I am just stating that Dix beat Smith. No it was not at the state tournament but atleast he wrestled him. Dix can say he beat everyone in public school and when he wrestled the private school state champ he beat him.
-
Check your facts Dix beat Smith 3-2 at Father Ryan
-
Farragut will have a group of kids there

NY - you are being true blue to your school!
However, I have to admit that I like the idea of regional & sectionals! I know we have districts, so why don't we wrestle off our districts to qualify for regionals. Oh my mistake, we still don't have the regions aligned fairly - so you know the districts are just as jacked up as the regions!
Just another day dealing with TSSAA politics -
It should not matter if the regions are aligned fairly or not because the regions are divided up geographically. Sure some regions are tuffer than others, but no matter what state you are in there will be some regions, sections, and districts that are tuffer than others. I think that KJF31 is hitting on something.

Paul Mountain from Farragut bench pressed 265 at 132lbs.

Nick Moore from Farrgut bench pressed 305 and squated 405 at 145lbs.
Justin Knox from Farrgut bench pressed 365 at 180lbs.

Bennie Gray is gentleman and always has a smile and something nice to say. I suggest when the opportunity presents itself you personally address Mr.GrayNot rainbow of muscles, rainbow of muscle shirts. He always wore black workout pants, a fanny pack hanging in the front and a blue, red or other assorted color muscle shirt. It was about as tacky a coach's uniform I have ever seen. The only one worse than that is the Union County coach walking around in overalls with a plaid shirt.about his choice of clothes I think he could convince you to wear overalls if understand what I'm saying!!

CloudDrakan,
You say Knox took 6th out of ten. Correct. He forfeited his matches after his loss in the semis. Which means, without the forfeits (which you do not know why) he could have wrestled for 3rd. The kid that took 3rd was the kid from North Carolina that Knox had already beaten. How good was the kid from North Carolina? Did he place last year? How many shots did each take? In his second match, can you tell me the size of the circle in the mat on which he wrestled? How many shots did each wrestler take? How long did each wrestler get in between their first and second matches? You indicate Knox looked out of shape. Are you sure he was not suffering from a cold? Please answer all these questions.
Thanks
The kid that Justin wrestled from NC is nationally ranked at 189 and he was third last year and fifth the year before. The two kids who placed above Jahad, Raymond Jordan and Trebor Clavette both placed at high school nationals. Clavette was 4th and Jordan 7th. Justin's second match was thirty minutes after his first and the kid he wrestled in that match had a bye first round. Cloud if you saw him wrestle you must have been at the tournament how did you do? What weight were you at? There was another kid from TN in that bracket but he did not even score a point with the exception of getting cut loose.

Knox is wrestling 171 this year. I guess you won't believe that untill you see him at a tournament.
-
Bucklateral nailed it. However, I'd put Knox ahead of Garza in DI. Knox only lost to Bryant Blackmon 1-0 and finished second in state. I remember watching that classic match at home, sitting on the edge of my chair. Garza finished fifth in that tourney. Other than that, Buck is right on.
Especially in DII with Vaughn - nobody is close. It will be Vaughn and the others.
-
Knox certified for 160, and he did not weigh over 200.
-
Knox is back at 171. Also Weakley from Clarksville who was 4th is back.
-
Jimmy Hiller is at Cumberland U I think
-
Skooter.
That's a pretty big statement about 125, could you roll me one too!

Best of the West,
Farragut finished 4th at individuals not 13th,they would have had stronger dual team execpt for rash of injuries.Knox 171 missed 6 weeks due to foot injury and had to get shots in his big toe joint monday prior to states so he could wrestle.125 Mountain had knee surgery in Dec. and returned for county championships which was two weeks prior to regions, 145 Farinella had knee surgery in Jan and returned for regions,112 Abercrombie broke a bone in his leg at the Bradley tournament and returned for county championships. That represented four starters out most of the season and 135 was forced to quit team due to grades. I have never seen so many injuries on one team and a team that was small in numbers to start with.

Coach Cates retired 1999
Coach Houston left 2002 for better paying position in GA.
Coach Weldon left 2003 due to teacher that had taken leave returning and bumping Coach Weldon out of teaching job, he is at Karns now
Coach Knox was wrestling at Gardner Webb and then Carson Newman. Farragut had no coach as of late Sept. so Knox and high school teammate Kerry Ferguson took the job to ensure wrestling continued at their old high school. Program that had 30 wrestlers in 2000 was down to 15 this year with only 11 weight classes filled
Youth program has picked up so the future looks brighter.

I would assume that whoever the Tennessee coaches are would select the team members probably based on who can still make the weight classes that they wrestled at this year. I attended last years event and there were some great match-ups with outstanding kids from GA,ALA, and MI. The team would obviously consist of the top wrestlers at each weight class that would and could participate.

The tournament ran very smoothly. The x-rays were negative and Dix luckly did not break his arm again. Hopefully he will be back soon. Farragut had to forfeit 140 after the first match as well as 135. Very tough competition from GA, TN, LA, and AL.
