  1. rockwood has made it to state the past two years. harriman went last year. rockwood shut out the team they played in substate last year and run ruled the team in substate the year before. thats what im basing my statement on. but the past is done. good luck tigers.

Rockwood and Harriman's Baseball programs are highly respected in Region 1. However in 5 of the last 6 years a Region 2 team has been defeated in the substate by Unaka. Region 1 baseball may not be as good top to bottom as Region 2, but the top team is usually equal or better than Region 2's 1 or 2 seed. I would say before you go talking smack about other potential substate teams, you might want to consult Coach Adcox, or Coach Lane formerly of Rockwood, about the Trip to Carter Co. they will tell you that it is not a cake walk. Matter of fact CAK '03, Harriman'04, Harriman '05, Rockwood "06 and Harriman'07 have all fell in state tournament bids in Region 1. Now does this mean that it will happen this year NO, but don't disrespect region 1 because you think it is a chip shot win because it ISN"T. Good luck to all teams in the region 1 and 2, Make East Tennessee proud when you represent them in the state whoever they maybe.

  2. First of all I am not trying to step on anyones toes so please don't take it that way. dchcindian When was the last time you have been to the state tournament? Have you ever been to watch the State Tournament? I have been to watch it several times and I have seen the team you are putting on the field this year and anyone in Region 1 or 2 WILL have a difficult time in the BORO!!!! You are going up against D1 prospects game in and game out and no one in this region has one prospect like that let alone a whole pitching staff of them. Unaka went 2 years ago and collected a handfull of hits in both games they competed in. They had 3 kids on their team that are currently playing or being recruited by NAIA schools and few D2 schools. If you don't want to take my word for it ask Rockwood, Harriman or Oliver Springs they will tell you reality sets in real quick. It is a great feeling to get to participate in the state tournament and IF you win play for the Region Championship and make it to sub- state, It will be the end of the road for most teams in Region one, simply because it takes more than one pitcher to get to the dance and based on what has been said that is all anyone in district 1 and 2 have, is one pitcher. So good luck to all teams in both districts, but becareful for what you say and what you wish for, because you might not be ready for what you are wishing for. Just like Unaka last year, they thought they could go to Hancock and they would roll over and they got upset, the same things could happen to you, so just play ball win your district and let it be decided on the field in the region before you put yourself in the State Tournament!!!!

  3. Unaka has a RHP Pierce.. 4-1 pitching

    He is batting .540 overall

    and .720 in conference..

    total of 31 at bats

plus Peters and coulbaugh is batting like .400 overall

This looks like a player is wanting to brag on himself a little. It looks like you are having a decent year, but let your play on the field do the talking and quit telling everyone how good you are. This Unaka team is not like the good Unaka teams of the past, those teams left it on the field and everyone knew when they came to play it was on. Nobody in region one wanted to play them as a matter of fact on the way to the state tournament in Memphis there was a article in the Roane County paper that said " Stoney Creek the Bermuda Triangle for Roane County teams." Those teams like Rockwood and Harriman were very good teams and didn't want to come to the creek and play for a trip to the state tournament. I have been present at some games and have nothing but respect for A.C. Ensor he is a good coach and will get his team ready for tournament time, but I don't think this team has enough players that are about the team, they are more worried about personal statistics. This could be one of the most talented ranger teams that Ensor has had, but will they live up to their potential? This remains to be seen. If you come together like the Ranger teams of the past you can accomplish great things, but if you don't it will be another year like last year. MESSAGE TO THE SENIORS...... Don't be the next class to drop the ball GET YOUR TEAM TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT, and bring the district and region Championship back to where it belongs STONEY CREEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. My guess is North Greene or Unaka. Not to knock Hancock Co. but region one is much more competitive. Yes Hancock has two quality wins, but since when did district two become a baseball juggernaut. It takes more than one win to make any team a legitimate contender. Best of luck to all teams in Region 1

  5. unless your coach ensor i dont think you get to call who the ace is there captain! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

I have watched them for a little bit, and I can say that when healthy, Unaka has 4 good pitchers that can win a game at any time. But I would like to know how you can say that any of those three you named are better than Pierce, he has been a dependable, and solid pitcher since he was a freshman.

  6. If Peirce is their ace and is actually better than Chambers, Peters, and Peterson, Unaka might be in for a world of hurt.

To answer your reply, Chambers folded like a cheap suit in the region and struggled in the district, Peters battled arm trouble, and Peterson was a freshman. Pearce is the ace based on his success against the conference, and he is the most consistent. There isn't a team in the conference that has as much pitching depth as Unaka, if you were at the Jamboree you saw Hampton struggle with 2 kids that haven't pitched.

  7. I heard they scored 4 in the second inning alone on 1 walk 1 hit and 2 homers. Those 4 runs were enough to win. How could errors have changed the outcome when they only batted like 7 people that inning. For a team that can't hit, isn't a home run at NG a pretty good shot. It's like 310 or something in the corners.

Sounds to me like NG may not be as horrible as coach said.

This comment wasn't to put Unaka down. We all now where they'll be when the championship rolls around at the end of the season LOL. I just thought NG was horrible and now their 2-0 and beat a tough West Greene team they had never beaten. Did you see the game? Where did you hear the report? I talked to another player. He said the other run came in the 5th or 6th win bases loaded and no outs.

Are you referring to the Unaka game or the North Greene game?

  8. SG scored all their runs in the first two innings, of Unaka's #3 or #4 pitcher. SG just hit it where Unaka wasn't, and Unaka hit the ball hard, but right at them. Unaka also left like 8 or 9 runners stranded, so that for sure didn't help thier cause.

Unaka threw their ace, and he allowed earned run, However, when you make 5 errors in the first two innings you arent gonna beat anybody that is any good. Unaka will be fine they just have to get going. They are playing tonight at Sullivan North at the Snowball classic and will play some tough teams in it, which should get them prepared for the conference.

  9. The second kid HV threw was Jake Hodge, he is their #2 behind Logan Bowling. UH is very young, they looked a little more polished than Hampton. After watching the Jamboree I think this is how it will shake out.

    1. Unaka - looked big and slow, but was missing Colbaugh

    2. North Greene- Athletic and scrappy missing Hopson and Peters

    3. UH- Young and talented, could contend for the top two spots as the year goes on.

    4. Hampton- Could compete for the 2 or 3 spot as the year goes on

    5. Cloudland- Could sneak up on some people if over looked, had a pitcher that threw hard.

Anyone else want to take shot at a prediciton is more than welcome!

  10. For what it's worth I thought Unaka was decent but I saw all of the teams and North Greene scrapped more than any of them. They out hussled everybody. They played the best team there HV a tight game and Unaka and the other ones, struggled with the other teams they played. Unaka had trouble with some team called Holstin. Unaka may be the best team but there is definitley a toss up for second.

  11. Unaka lost the Tayler kid, Hampton lost the little lefty and the shortstop, cloudland lost the Lanthorn kid, he's riding the pine at E town, UH lost Evanson and I believe Burton, and NG said they lost alot.

  12. The conference could be pretty close this year, with several top players returning. So heres my guess

1 Unaka- Could have the most depth in the conference, with Colball, Peters, and D.Chambers leading the way. Early dismissal in the region last year by Hancock should have the Rangers out for blood.

    2. UH/ NG - When North Greene has the Hopson kid on the bump they're pretty tough and the coach has found a way to get the best out of what talent he has.

3 UH/ NG- UH lost alot last year but should still be talented and could very easily challenge Unaka and North Greene for the Conference.

4 Hampton- Lost several last year but the coaching change could be just what the Dr. ordered. New excitment can breed new success, but the talent just might not be there yet.

    5. Cloudland- May win 10 games this year. Could challenge Hampton

Those are just standings the way I see it, please feel free to give your opinion, lets just hope for good weather and great baseball from all of these teams!!! Good luck to all

  13. Unaka's field is not any better than anybody else's. There is a freakin dandelion field in the outfield and the fence is warped. "Field of Dreams" yea right.

uhbaseball, you can talk about someone elses field, when you have one of your own, until then worry about getting out of your district, and advancing to the region, before North Greene wears you out!!!!!!!!

  14. Yeah,I am soooooo jealous of Unaka. LOL Stick to baseball because it seems your basketball days are done and your FOOTBALL days never were. This thread is FOOTBALL not "all sports" as you put it. Football is THE sport in this county, this state, and this country. When you win a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in that let us know. When you win a conferance championship let us know. Heck, even a single playoff game. "The way it can and will be", don't matter NOW. The way it was don't matter NOW. What matters NOW is what you'all do tonight. Good luck and I hope you and Hampton play an injury free game.

Not trying to cause trouble, but if this thread is about football, why do you and other people keep bashing the Stoney Creek Community, and you keep saying it is not about the past or future, then why talk about Cloudlands success recently, theyve done nothing more then Unaka has. Heck, you Landers cant even support your Coach. If he loses another game you will be calling for his job just like the Avery game.

  15. Now, I've read over 100 posts in past week. In almost every post, people from Cloudland and Hampton, express how they feel about Unaka and the Stoney Creek Community. Lets get one thing straight, you don't see the Stoney Creek Community in the news for busted Meth Labs and having "respectable" and I use that term loosly, people losing their state licensure, for unethical conduct with a minor... Appearently, YOU people in the Hampton and Cloudland community that are on here bashing the Creek are just JEALOUS!!!!!!! Maybe not about the football program and community as it stands right now, but the way it can and will be in the future. As for the atheletic programs(Every Sport) in the 3 three schools mentioned, neither Hampton or Cloudland have enjoyed the success Unaka has over the last 7 or 8 years. Say what you want to make yourself feel good, because you are going to anyway, just remember the last STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in the last 40 years, belongs to STONEY CREEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. pujo, i was at the chuckey doak game last thursday and the guy up in carl's roost called estep's name for several tackles that he wasent even close to. estep is a good player but a little over hyped in my opinion. anyway here are my picks.

    hampton 35 oneida 7

    cloudland 33 west greene 12

    unicoi 28 happy valley 14

    union co. 14 unaka 7

    science hill 42 elizabethton 7

First of all, the man in Carls roost was from the opposing team, second of all the annoucer isnt the stat man, if u want a true estimate u can call the star the same ones who have the stats for the whole county, including Hampton.

  17. Good post Storm, The Truth will stand when the mountain is on fire, and believe u me, Its really on fire. If they lose to West Greene this week, they may not win a game all year. I personally think that an 0-10 season would compromise the integrity of the Roan Mountain faithful and be a virtual slap in the face to a once proud community.

  18. Unaka has their #1 & #2 ready for the game and the Colbaugh kid only threw 50 pitches Mon. University High had a really good game against Washburn, look for them to come out swinging. However if Unaka plays like they did the last 3 games in the district, they should win this matchup. UH has two wins against the Rangers this year but in both games Unaka had double digit errors in the game.

  19. Well I have explained it before and I guess I will have to explain it again for you since your reading level is around the first or second grade level of understanding what you read. :) If a student is enrolled in any highschool of any kind. Then they must take the test and must pass the test. No picking or choosing the students who should take or not take the test. So that throw's your whole rumor out of the door of picking and choosing students for the test :) . So maybe you should suggest Unaka to get a STUDY HALL. So that they could maybe get there IQ up and start relizeing that they are never going to be any good at football. If they put half the effort into football as they do trash talking and doing drugs then maybe you all might have a half way descent team. But this is the real world and in the real world Unaka stinks really bad at football. The question is when are you going to realize that. :)

Being smallminded as you are, you are to gullible to believe the truth about the Study Hall issue. Now you would have to be totally out of your mind to believe that a small school like Hampton, who believe it or not is just like the other single A schools in the county, graduates ninty some percent of their students, that is just ludacris. So the "BLUE RIBBON" thing is just a lie, anotherone in the long line of lies you chose to believe, so keep believing that you are so much better and in due time you will see the truth!!!!

  20. You never played against them,if you had ,trust me, you would know him quite well. He also plays fullback and he comes out of the backfield like a bull. Grooms and Estep would cringe at the thought of trying to bring down this boy all night. You better get low or you are going for a ride.

Linebackers from Coalfield can't be that good, didn't Hamptons backup RB run all over them.
