  1. Not sure, perhaps your lawyer can look into it. Ohhhh, I am funny, like you. Seriously though, Donald (pretty sure), Rogan, Hawkins, Coleman, Cooper, Anderson, etc, Dougals and I bet Sommer for 08. That's a pretty good "in state" haul for UT. You are right about Smith (Weiss could explode though) & Watkins (says he's ok with Shula out, but you never know). Win some lose some. Oh my gosh, I just noticed Rogan, Hawkins, Anderson, Smith, Douglas, and Sommer are all from Region 2. I'll be darned. Whoooduhthunkit?? There us East Tennesseeans go, being all arrogant, and not knowing our facts, and being unedumaaccaaated. Yikes, I mean Sykes. There goes another ...........LSU or FSU with his buddy Mr. Warren, another Mr. Football or out to Coffeyville KS juco with yet another Dustin Lindsey (sign & place @ UT). Well time to go hitch up the wagon, and see what lies beyond the Cumberland Plateau. Ohhh my they look like Gold Balls. Jee whiz, I hope we can bringem home Paw.

    Nice. Go Vols.

  2. As for the bagpipes, Coach McCadams' famous ancestors were twin brothers, Angus and Shamus McCadams. They were the cavalry platoon leaders who served as the right and left hand men of William Wallace in the famous battle at Old McDonalds farm.

One relevant question for all of the Lipscomb fans who will arrive late this week. When you get to the stadium after kickoff and try to work your way to the seat in the middle of the aisle, should you go down the row facing the field or facing the pressbox?

Though the preceding posts may be interesting, I hold the key to the true nature of the bagpipes. List now and join me on a mystical journey over the rainbow to find the pot o' gold...

Maybe current Senior Volunteer Double Secret Probation Pep Band leader, Josh McTumblin could handle this endeavor for Friday Night. Perhaps even the Unofficial Official David Lipscomb Mustang Football Website will change its name to The McMustangfanpage.com

Ahhh! Twas a glorious day whenst we bringst back the Bagpipes to their rightful place. Nothing makest me prouder then hearing the wail of humanity suffering comingst thru those glorious pipes!!!! Tis truly magic happenin when that piper is piping and the mcmustangs are preparingst for battle!!!! Long live the queen!!!

Ahhh! nothin makes me grin more than discussing kilt etiqutte. The real men wear their kilts bare. I believe the americans refer to it as free-ballin. anyway me hopes its not cold friday or the old man will be freezin his ars off under that skirt of his!!!

This place has a retro feel right now. I like it.

  3. Oh, LA people are the only ones posting, huh? You are from Knoxville, right? Could it be you are a little upset because we ousted 3 teams from the big city??

Not from Knoxville. I would never claim this city as home. I've watched those 3 teams personally. They are good. So, you all must be good. Calm down, firecracker.

Well, I see the Bulldog is back with his usual entry to every thread - public can't compete with private. If that's true Bulldog, how come DL has been sent home from the playoffs seven times in the past ten years by public schools? How come the last two years we have had our heads handed to us by Huntingdon and Alcoa? Do you see any fear of Lipscomb in the LA posts on this thread? Any team that can run through Carter, Austin East, Knox Catholic, and Notre Dame in consecutive weeks is not scared of Lipscomb or anyone in 3A, nor should they be. I think it's going to be a great game.

Is your next planned split for the TSSAA to separate Metro schools from the County schools? Clearly, County and small town school programs have an advantage over Metro area schools. The proof is in the TSSAA record books and in the amazing crowds that travel with their community teams. I don't hear you complaining about the highly successful public school programs that win year in and year out. I doubt you were complaining about Lipscomb when they were going 2-8 or 3-7 in the early 1980's when Coach McCadams was just getting a handle on our program. Riverdale, Oak Ridge, Maryville, Melrose, Fulton, Milan, Huntingdon, Alcoa, Trousdale County, etc. are highly successful for the very same reasons that a lot of the private schools are - they have established programs and coaching consistency. Undeniably, people move to these areas in order for their sons to play on teams with great coaching and winning traditions. How are you going to regulate that?

I don't know who your team is, Bulldog, but as long as you keep telling them they can't compete they are likely to live up to your expectations.

Well said, informed post. I think you speak for a lot of Lipscomb fans.

  4. The move to 3A has brought with it some of the worst public/private debate since '03. It had quieted down some, but the new blood in 3A is ready to complain. Maybe the mods will move this to public/private debate like they did so many past DL threads a couple years ago. Then we can at least talk about football....or each other.

    3A no challenge,

    multiply by 52,

    Maryville is next...

  5. Who are you to say Cates has got a big head over the way he has been playing? And to make a religious stab at him is just uncalled for and wrong. It's people like u that disgust me, he doesn't read the things that are posted on here as well as the rest of the team. And who are you to insult the intelligence of our community just because a few people get on here and act like idiots? I'm sure you are so much more intelligent than the people in Overton County that we can't even translate your scholarly posts <_< Just leave the kids that are playing out of it they haven't said anything, and everybody act like adults and talk about football thats what this forum is for.

    DL thread rookie....

  6.

By the way, each of us picks a screen name that has something to do with us personally, etc..........you might want to drop expert out of yours.

And you might want to drop 69 out of yours. At least that's what I've heard.

This is Matt Fletcher...not nutt22....david lipsCum cant compete with LA...

    Not Nutt_22, still a tool....

  7. highschoolfan, I know you must vent your frustration in some form or manner.... My guess is: 1. Your either a father of a son who ovulates more than your daughter and can't stand the fact that he wears white leather belts, hip-hugger jeans, and a flipped-up-collar pink polo to work at abercrombie and fitch!!! OR 2. You are that white leather belt, hip-hugger jean, and flipped-up-collar wearin abercrombie and fitch employee that did make the team a couple years ago and played slap hands on the sideline while holdin up four fingers during the 4th quarter(just to fit in).

Same goes for you bombsquad!! Which one do you fall under?

If you read up like 12inches on your screen, your question is answered. Unfortunately it isn't either of the choices in your fantasy world. However, those are good descriptions of a lot of tools on this board.

  8. OH so your saying he's being a little smart like you. Who pulled your chain anyway. Do you have a dog in this fight. Save me all the talk about Penn State please. Joe Pa is a legend no doubt and he will have no bearing on this game. If you and HIGH SCHOOL HAIRY are anything like your team it's going to be a pleasure kicking your tails come saturday. Don't walk with your noses up in the air if it rains you might drown. And don't pat yourself on your back so hard you might break your arm.

So I guess you want a little respect for having a ring well la ti da. The only respect you will get from me is IF your team wins and until then why don't you rich ex-players quit razing a bunch of hs kids and being so sarcastic.

Would you have any more cliches to use if I told you I am not even an ex-player?

highschoolfan said it best. This is not about razzing you. This is about the 13 pages of jargon your people have put on this board.

  9. No joke HIGHSCHOOL. Coach Danny McCoin ( previous head coach and off. cord at LA ) played QB with the Detroit Lions until a life threatening neck injury forced him to retire. So Joe Blow that. Wow you all really have a coach that played for Penn State. How will LA compete with that. Will he be on the field playing too. I hope he's fast b/c when Cates breaks loose on a option, interception, punt return, kick-off return, a fumble or a fake punt you better hope he can catch him.

Rocking Chair, I believe he is not bragging about a coach that attended Penn State. Rather, he is mocking your small town ignorance and blatant disregard for college football tradition. Your arguing only further proves your ignorance. His original post was a joke on you saying "WE ARE LA." A cheer that was made popular at Penn State as the student section chants "WE ARE" followed by the alumni and fans chanting "PENN STATE." No one really cares that anyone on your team played for the Lions just like no one really cares any of DL's coaches played at Penn State. Unlike the rest of your LA friends, he is not that conceited...

    DL is Penn State,

    Harrington is a loser,

    Rings allow for talk.....

  10. understand your hostility man....after 12 yrs at $7,000 a yr...I probably wouldn't take crap off

When BombSquad started attending he probably payed around 4,000....his last year just under 7,000...let's not exaggerate here. He probably payed around 50,000 over his twelve years, and if you asked him today, every dollar was worth beating people like you into submission. I would say his state championship was the product of $44,000 dollars.

  11. I'm just telling you what i heard from other people about dl. but if you want me to tell you what i think then here goes i think that it's crap that wilson cates isn't even in the runin for mr. football what a shame the man or "primetime" has had a hellashish year it was proven that nd can't stop him so how is dl going to stop him i don't see it happening he broke down the wall and he will run right through dl defense enough said cates should be mr.football. CATS WILL ROLL ON GO CATS GO

Your eleven posts are an embarrassment to your town along with the naming of your "star" player. Get on here before LA goes on the mythical run and someone might respect you. No one at Lipscomb is underestimating your team. As for calling out David Lipscomb, the person: Are you kidding me? You may be the biggest tool in small town history.

Eastnfootballexpert, it is good to see you on the boards. I got back on after a year long hiatus and figured you had moved on to bigger and better things. I'll leave you with a Haiku...

    When the leaves turn brown...

LA is full of huge tools,

    Lipscomb names the score

  12. Sooooo.....being able to pay tuition doesn't create an advantage??? I think you hit on something about "communities". How in the world do you think you can "sell" the idea of ...can't afford to live in Brentwood....but I have $7,000 a YEAR to send my kid to a private school.

Tell me how many losing seasons or mediocre seasons DL has had in 20 yrs???? Any community will typically have some of those years over time.

He has a legitimate point about the communities, ease up. If you look at the property taxes of Williamson County in Brentwood's school district for instance you will see a significant difference in those of areas in Davidson County. In addition you will be paying for a much more expensive house and a house is much more of a commitment than 4 years of paying tuition. In my time at Lipscomb, it would have been more expensive for my family to buy a house in Brentwood and me to attend public BHS. Yes, I could have saved money and attended the public school in Davidson County I was zoned for, but frankly, I felt Lipscomb was the best education and environment for me all things considered.

You are right; DL has had very few losing or "mediocre" seasons in recent times. We have established that they do not recruit, and that essentially, anyone can live anywhere and attend the school of their choice. If you can look past that, the most founded argument on DL's success may be that they are all products of a system. Not just a high school system, but they (most) have the privilege of playing together starting as early as 5th grade. They are being coached by the Lipscomb "family" starting early. Most teams that play together that long under basically the same ideas, systems, and coaches will be successful. However, in small towns the same argument can be made. If there is one high school, there usually are only one or two middle school feeders.

The public/private complaining really came out after DL won its first state championship in eight years. The previous seven it was more or less nonexistent. They have been blessed with four straight excellent seasons. Frankly, playing Lipscomb gives every team an automatic excuse before anyone steps on the field. The fact that they are private apparently helps a lot of people sleep at night after a loss, and it also brings out the best in all of their opponents.

Most people agree that the public/private debate is more or less pointless (reference the fact that it has its own board for fanatics to complain). Maybe they should be split up, but give Lipscomb a three year drought from the semi-finals and the talk will quiet down, again.

  13. BombSquad,

Your total lack of effort on CoachT over the past few weeks is deplorable. I am embarassed to know you as a person. The 13th grade week in and week out is expected to Own coacht.com. I know you don't have anything to do at the joke of of a University you attend.

On another note, congrats to DL on the win tonight. I can't make it to any games, but I hear the results have been respectable this year after the move to 3A. Keep up the good work, hope to see you in the title game.

    Sincerely,
