  1. Farragut looks pretty tough this year. 2 back to back bigtime rivalry games for us, that's tough. Too early for me to make a call on this one, but I will almost guarantee our D will keep it close.

You mean 3...Clinton is a rivalry and they made it a tough game !

Sooooo glad I made the trip to DB last night

  2. Someone on the "staff" thread said he was in today's team meeting. Are there any reports from players or others in attendance as to how that went?

my favorite quote from the day "i'll say this to the danged public. i'm not the smartest guy around, but i don't care. most coaches won't say something like this to you. but if we lose a GAME! next year, my #### will be STUNNED! now we may lose, but i will be stunned."

from what i can tell, most players were excited

  3. I have to admit I am quite surprised. I hope everyone has patience when he doesn't instantly win a gold ball. It has seemed like everyone rooting for Gaddis did so with the assumption that he would immediately make Oak Ridge great, given his past success here. That was what worried me the most...his success was predicated on his abilities, yes, but also on the talent of student-athletes at the time, the orientation of the community, the relative strength of nearby programs, and the time period in which he coached.

    • We now have a different time period, where students have more options to distract them from football.
    • We also have a different Oak Ridge, with other sports and non-sport activities taking center stage.
    • We also have a different Oak Ridge as far as population goes.
    • We have now a different East Tennessee, with some powerful teams.

I want the Wildcats to win under any coach, but the cult of Joe Gaddis the coach is pretty powerful, based on the discussion that surrounded this coaching search. I hope he wins, but I'm not naive enough to think that he is a magician. If Joe Gaddis needs some time to install his program, I hope that the cult of Joe Gaddis doesn't turn on Joe Gaddis the man.

  4. well maybe next time cats...

it's good to see some old faces as well as some new ones. i remember WaCoJaCo well, and boyfromsi too....but whatever happen to artvandalay???? and where's DCCATVOICE??

i too try to keep up with the wildcats. seems like it's been a mix of feast and famine, with not much in between for coach stevens. best of luck to the whole squad.

props to wysh for putting the video live online! it's hard to keep track from all the way out in OR...that's Oregon, not Oak Ridge /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  5. fulton onside kick to start the game, OR scoresfulton throws interception, OR scoresannnnnd Oak Ridge just recovered a fumble at the fulton 8i'll admit, i was nervous, but i feel justified now in having thought all the hubbub w/ "OR not giving fulton enough cred" and "fulton wins this one" talk to just be ridiculous.and to mr. clary, you are totally not an idiot. thanks for keeping prepradio on the air...my friends all think i'm lame listening to TN high school football friday night in LA, but i guess they didn't go to such a great school oh yea....i almost forgot. running back jared stevens(sp) has 100+ yards rushing in just the first quarterand fulton has barely been on offense the whole quarter

  6. are far as simecleo or wutever, as well as all the other haters, i dont know why people still have to bash on lussier even after he's gone. get over it. anyone with a brain can see that stanton stevens didnt turn any wildcat program around like he did at austin east. he did a great job, but im sure if u asked him he would acknowledge that not only does it take a lot more than a coach to win a title, but also that bruce lussier was an excellent coach. the wildcats didn't go to the semis in 2003 and 2004 to lose to powerhouse riverdale without a great coach.

for the number of championships question...i count 8 as well: 1956, 1958, 1961, 1962, 1975, 1979, 1980, and 1991. that is what has been on programs for years as well as the home side scoreboard. for some reason TSSAA only lists OR as having 7, as they dont list the 1961. ive never actually known why that is, oh well. here is the link to see it...Get State Records

but i mean, 9 will come soon. there were plentty of titles they should have had...especially 2003!! haha, well, atleast i think so, but oh well.

man that was an amazing game. first time id been able to see the cats at ship since i was freshman, and first time id even been to the field since we lost 17-13 in the snowbowl. wow that was some game..never forget it...what a last play.

welp, dont know much about this ravenwood. kinda wish it was an old name but we will have the motivation. apparently this is their third year?

good luck wildcats!!! hope i get to come to the game

  7. First off, reading this I notice that all of the clamoring is done by parents. I don't see any players or former players complaining about it. Also, what exactly is so bad about the field? I didn't get to go to any home games this past season and I haven't heard anything specific.

Now, I am all for tradition - I don't exactly love the idea of my high school being completely revamped for a new plastic one that is supposedly "better." So I can sympathize with the allegedly old fogies who want to keep things the way they are. That isn't to say that things should never be fixed, but there is a fine line. Someone mentioned some bleachers along the bank: are you serious? The hill is one of the most characteristic aspects of Jack Armstrong Stadium. Besides, if this happend where would the boys run their punishments after Thursday's practice? :P

I do agree that the locker room is a little cramped. And it would be nice if the other team wasn't right next door. But the city and SB are already throwing a lot of money and effort into this new school project, and I think that should be the number one priority. Maybe bad timing for the patrons of the field, but they may just have to wait a bit more.

  8. Hey first off congratulations on winning what was apparently a big one!

I was reading the Knox News Sentinel article on your win and read that a Richeon Bell returned a punt for 86 yards to break the record for longest punt return in the bowl game. Here's the link:

    Awesome Alcoa Finish

Okay, my question is is that Richeon Bell the same one that played with me as a sophomore when I was a junior and I think also my senior year (04) but I'm not sure on that one. Does anyone out there know?

  9. we can analyze this one forever. few plays went different, different people having off nights, etc. so many things could have changed the outcome of this one. bottom line is riverdale did what it took to win, won, and are still alive. waita go cats, good luck warriors.

  10. orwildcat30 give riverdale some credit, i was at the game and they wore you guys down, you dont want to compare football traditions with riverdale my friend.

come on now. i didnt say ne thing bad about riverdale. i simply said it was unfortunate that we lost because its been so long since weve made the trip to the boro. riverdale won, beat oak ridge, and like i said a few weeks ago in the db thread, the better team always wins.

  11. No you won't, not this year. But you will next year, and every year after. Enjoy the success, nobody stays on top forever. Remember the days before Rankin?

And by the way, compaired to Oak Ridge........they were patsys :P

aw waco i feel you. riverdale is gotta run out of gas soon

thought this was the year... :P
