  1. agreed were not out to be athletes were out to be multi talented musicians

    AMEN! LOL....

CoachT rocks! I'm so glad we have this board. Thanks CoachT

  2. Is there anyway that someone could do band and football? Has anyone ever heard of this before?

I think I have heard of that before...I think a few years ago there was a guy who was on the football team and was a tuba player. Not sure though....

  3. Let see what everyone thinks and maybe a BD might get a idea or 2

    My "Dream Shows"

    1 Tower of Power

2 Swing (did this one in HS and loved it)

3 Chicago (the band not the movie

    4 AC/DC

    Let the ideas begin!!!

I would like to see AC/DC! ;) I'm kind of burnt out on swing, but I like it. We did swing all 4 years of my high school career. The new UT-Martin BD is thinking about a KISS show...

  4. in gof your trien to accomplish somethin..not blow a horn....

Why can't all the band haters just stay out of this board?? Nevermind that would be way too simple. :)

  5. Very interesting. I obviously don't see this happening, but stranger things have come about. A shortening of halftime could force more college marching bands to play their traditional halftime shows at the beginning or end of a college football game or they could elect to play a 5 and a half minute show as a opposed to the original 8-minute show.

That is so wrong... :) Surely it won't happen!

  6. Ah, fellow band followers, finally we have it! A board of our own. So, let's start with the question of all time:

Which do you like better, concert band or marching band?

Ah, for me, it's a toss-up. Marching band's definitely more fun because you get to be with your friends and sweat and goof off (er, sometimes. :) ). Plus, it was always fun before competitions leading my little clarinet circle in tuning and pre-comp. pep talks and all.

But I do like the focus and musicality of concert band. Let's face it, marching band definitely doesn't have that hard of music so it's cool to kind of settle in and sight-read hard stuff. I love to sight read! Plus, sometimes you hit that groove where everybody's playing well and in tune and it's gorgeous. :)

By the way, thank you, Coacht, for lettin' us have this board!

Definetly marching band! Don't get me wrong I like concert band too, but you get to play more interesting in marching band. It's more exciting to play in front of a stadium full of people. :)

  7. Anyone here going to band in college? If so where?

I'm in the band at UT Martin. I get a $500/year scholarship. It's not much, but it helps a little. The amount of money you get depends on what instrument you play and if you are a music major.

  8. It's finally here. What do yall think?

Go Stangs!!!!! I wish I could come see the game but I will be in Martin for homecoming. :thumb: I have been waiting for this game all year and it turns out I won't get to go after all. O well...I sure do miss marching with band and watchin the team play Milan. It's so exciting! LOL...
