  1. I think the thing that will be the factor of the game is the location of the game. Playing at OR is not the easiest place to play. Just because they won at Halls they had Knox County Refs....going up there they will have Anderson County Refs...enough said....the only shot that Halls has is if they shut down Younkin and good luck with that ....OR by atleast 15 if not more!!

  2. Brittnay Allen from Powell (#10). She's fast and can handle the ball under presure really well. She has her moments like all freshman do but is a huge asset to the team. She started for Powell against Clinton (other starters where Caitlin Hollifield (JR), Kayla Mitchell (SR), Christian Britton (JR), and Carly Rhyne (JR)). Definately one to watch for the rest of the season.

  3. I don't know if your schools are having as much of a problem with this as our area schools, but there needs to start being a fine line with what charges are and what they are not. We are having problems with refs calling fouls way after the foul happends and it really gets the players upset when a ref calls a foul late and the player that is guarding someone or has the ball at the time thinks they did something wrong.

I guess the two biggest problems I have with refs is when they call a foul on a person at least 3 feet away from someone with hands up on d and they call a foul on them. This is really bad when an opposing coach asks the ref about this. The other problem is when one ref calls something and another ref that is totally opposite of the ball comes and tells the ref that he is wrong and makes him change what he orgianlly said.

There are somethings that fans can live with and there are others that really have to be fixed so the game can be more enjoyable. Some of this is just stupid stuff and not called for. I have never seen a charged called so many different ways. For the players safety and to help make the job of the coaches easier.

  4. wow, who would have thought that the same teams that played for the championship and 3rd would be the same that played for them last year. I think that Powell will pull this out though, after losing to OR last year in the championship, gives them more of a drive and it is at OR one place they want to win at more than any where else. Powell all the way!!

  7. Here is my opion:

Powell's Caitlin Hollifield and Erin Ogan are a double team that you don't want to get in the way of.

Cait Hollifield is amazing and growing in basketball every year...she's still a sophmore but she doesn't play like it.

Erin Ogan is just AWSOME...she has gotten better and better...this year her game is on and you better watch out because she hitting almost everything she puts up...no matter if she is in the paint or not.

Cait McMahan is good...we should all give her credit...she scored i believe 44 points on Powell last year...no one could stop her...she is really the only stand out on her team

  8. I just want to say a big congrats to the Lady Panthers (2-5 going into the game) for winning at Oak Ridge last night. That is the first time that Coach Young has ever won at Oak Ridge. This couldn't have come at a better time for the girls. They played good solid defense the entire game. Way to go ladies!!

  9. No doubt in my mind that it is Vic Grider!! He can take a group of guys and make them champions. They want to play and win for him all season long!! He loves the game more than anything else!!

  10. I recently had a chance to see Antonio Robinson from South Pittsburg play. He is a soph. and is 6'5". He averages about 18 or 19 points and 14 rebounds per game. His dad played at Memphis State and then at UT Chattanooga. Very good player with a bright future. Keep an eye out for this guy.

How are the SP boys doing this season? I haven't had a chance to get to one of their games this year. I went to school with Antonio. It is good to hear that a guy like him is doing awsome in Basketball!!!

  11. Everyone better look out for the Freshmen team from Powell. They are going to be one of the best teams in the state once they get on Varsity. They were awsome at the Middle School and now they are going to take over the High School program in the next year or two.

  12. Lee Smith recently joined the Powell team....and is a major offensive threat~you better watch out for him, b/c he's going places.

ladE44panthrs I couldn't agree with you more. the boys have a different attitude when the play. He was just what the guys needed to pick up the pace.

  13. I believe Powell should be ranked high.  I truely believe Powell can beat Sevier County.  Powell has 4 girls 5'10" or taller (and all are great players) and quick guards.

Terra Michael/guard is quick as a cat.  The past 2 years Coach Prudent from Oak Ridge showed her respect.  She would press Powell when Terra wasn't in the game and would be successful.  However when Terra returned to the game, 9 out of 10 times Prudent would stop the press.

Erin Ogan has stepped up here game since the Greeneville Thanksgiving tourney.  The freshman, Caitlin Hollifield received the MVP award for the tourney.  I believe Erin decided if she wanted to be the star of the team, she better improve her game, which she has.  Erin has been dynamic since the Thanksgiving tourney.

Christen Rhyne's game has also improved over the last 3 weeks.

If Powell plays Sevier County in the year end tourney, Terra Michael will be a key factor for their success in beating Sevier County.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, to bad yours is innaccurate. The fact is sevier co is the best of the best until proven otherwise, no matter what anybody else says. And of your referring to the greeneville bank ladies classic tina broyhill was the mvp of the tourney not your girl from powell. And yes powell should be ranked high, but no they cant and wont beat sevier co. Have you seen there strentgh of schedule 86th out of 110 schools, possibly a reason for all there success? I think so, also sevier co is 15th out of 110, that means there are only 14 other teams in the state that have a harder schedule than they do and they are 20-0, i think sevier co is just a little better. Sevier co may not have height but they can shoot the lights out, even the post can shoot from downtown. And as far as speed goes they probably match up pretty well, but whitney flemming is just about the fastest little white girl in these parts, and anyone who has seen them play can back me up. Anyway, i cant wait for this mathup it'll be on espn classic. Though i'm not taking anything away from powell so don't get your panties in a bunch, but the facts are the facts.

When you say that Powell's got a weak schedual by being ranked 86th out of 110, you are just stating someone else's opion. What make a team good is not there rank in scheduals but how good the team plays. A team is only as good as the teams they are playing. This year Powell has an AWSOME team and SC better watch their backs because Powell will creep up behind them and beat them. They've done it before to teams and they will do it to you. Just becauce SC is one of the top teams in the nation doesn't mean anything!!!!
