the best team in west tenn outside of memphis is going to be covington. they have a dominate pitcher, a div 1 shortstop, and a senior heavy roster with valuable experience. while mathis and delashmit are wonderful talents, covington also has several good arms, team speed, and power. also look for joe freeman to have an impact after not playing last year.
When did Joe Freeman decide to rejoin the team?

USJ will be near the top of 1A for many years to come. They are stacked all the way down to middle school.
USJ moved up to 2A in baseball also.

The one USJ interception was thrown by Hardegree. Hudson came in and looked like the son of a former NFL Quarterback is supposed to look like. He had tremendous poise. He showed excellent leadership skills. The confidence he showed became contagious and the players really seemed to responded to him.

Can someone break the game down for everyone? Thanks!

Bottom line- USJ will get beat by Huntingdon, Milan and Westview. These boys could take on almost any team in the state, and I'm not ready to put USJ in their class. I played for 2 0-10 teams from Camden back in the late 90's and I remember playing a state runner up bound USJ team that had a lot of trouble putting us away. There's a huge difference between 1A and 2A at the top.
I think people are assuming way too much about Milan. I look for them to be down this year. My early upset prediction for the season: USJ 21 Milan 14. Its never too early to get something started!

Riverside beat USJ in every statistic except the score. The only reason for that was several bad calls. Think about it this. You barely beat the 2004 Riverside Panthers with help from the refs at home. What will happen to you when you play the ELITE 2A teams. Riverside was a 2A middle of the pack team last season. I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU PLAY AGAINST 2A STATE CHAMPIONS.
I knew it wouldnt take long for the Riverside people to bring up the "bad calls" in last years game. The refs didnt beat you; your coach did. Hunter Smith was getting 5-7 yards a carry but for some unknown reason the coach stopped giving him the ball in the 3rd and 4th quarters. It will be a tremendous accomplishment this year if the Bruins make the playoffs after having to fill in all of those holes. It wouldnt surprise me at all.

Well, from us playing them for the last nine years, I don't know how much they lost from last year playerwise, but they are always well coached, fundamentally sound, not the biggest bunch, but work as hard or harder than anyone. I believe they will give most of the teams in this region all they care to have to handle.
USJ graduated a very strong Senior class. Offense: QB,FB,TB,TE,WR, most of the OL is still intact. Defense: DE,DT,2 LB's,2 DB's,P.

If USJ beats either Milan, Huntingdon or Westview they will definately get a playoff spot.

as a USJ fan, Im excited about our guys being able to play against all of the quality programs and athletes in 2-7A. I think there is no question that this is the top 2-A region in the state. I think Guy did alot more last year with less of a supporting cast than Weathers had. I think everyone is overlooking the kid from Humboldt.

You sure are defensive about not being a USJ parent. But it is obvious you have a dog in this race (what are you a grandfather or uncle to one of the players???). If you don't, then obviously you either want Brad's job or have someone out there that you would like to get in there.
As for your last pretentious comment, what can I say other than you have proved yourself already as being prideful. But what else would you expect from an arrogant snob that thinks so high of himself?
Again - Brad is a top notch coach/person and everything you are insinuating is pure bunk! You don't know the whole story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its very obvious that rollredroll is in no way affiliated with USJ. Luckily for USJ, neither are you!

Is this thread about Union and Coach Rushing or Randy Harrell?

Tonite's game will go a long way toward either confirming the theory that USJ just plain did not play anywhere close to their capability in the 96.5 Tourney or it will tell us that Huntingdon, in fact, is on the same level as the Bruins. I agree with Hobock that for whatever reason (loss of Hunter Garrett/Will Dement or other reasons) USJ just was not into the 96.5 Tourney. The Bruins play was totally lackluster and far below their capability.
OR
If Huntingdon puts it on the Bruins tonite like they did in Lexington it will justify WestTN's (and other 'stang supporters) position that us Bruin supporters (you and me Hobock) are near sited and can't see the forest for the trees. In other words that USJ is not near the team that we believe them to be.
I think I know the answer but we'll see!!!
If Huntingdon wins I'll be the first one to say congrats just like I did in Lexington.
Great post necvol...If the Mustangs win tonight Ill be right behind you congratulating them...Im never surprised at the amount of dislike for USJ...nobody likes a team that wins all the time...WELCOME BACK HUNTER!!!

This post is amazing. The 96.5 Classic is a great tournament run by Lexington High School and sponsored by ESPN radio in Lexington. Good teams like Hardin County, Lexington, Huntingdon, Knoxville Central, and yes, even USJ competed. The fact that you have sour grapes because you didn't win or weren't even in the championship is immature.
I usually just read posts and rarely respond. However, this season there are about three or four USJ supporters that like to post on behalf of their team. I think this is great. Stats, updates, congratulating players who are doinng well, etc. When USJ loses, I don't see boxscores. When someone mentions USJ and doesn't apply praise, you all turn to childish mockery (which I'm sure my post will endure also).
Grow up, let your kids be kids (it doesn't last long), and good luck with AA next season. Bruceton, Dresden, and Fayette Academy won't be between you and Memphis. Covington, Ripley, North Side, Milan, Dyer Co., and Dyersburg will.
You should read the rest of the posts before you jump all over somebody. We supporters of USJ are sincerely sorry we couldnt have provided a better CoachT experience for you. Have a nice day.

I dont think this game will be close...the Huntingdon loss was a fluke...USJ would have lost to a Little League team in the 96.5 tournament...they never showed up to play during that whole tournament...Youre right though necvol, we cant continue to make 4 or 5 errors a game...you cant score enough runs in Memphis to cover up 4 or 5 errors a game. GO BRUINS!!!

I heard that Coach Dyer from USJ was looking at the Union position because there are upset boosters at USJ getting the attention because of recruiting.
Having to go to Class AA next year in all sports. Coach Dyer might as well go ahead a jump into college ball so he can recruit all he wants to and only have to answer to the NCAA not the TSSAA.
Are you ever going to get over the fact that your kid wasnt good enough to play at USJ? Do us all a favor and just...MOVE ON!!!
