  1. There is nothing wrong with a chewing, if it's done the right way. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong and cursing kids is wrong. It's wrong on the court, it's wrong on the field, it's wrong in the locker room. What would happen if a Teacher cursed a student? What would happen if a Preacher cursed his Church members? It's not right for the leaders of our children to act in such a manner. It's also not right for us as parents to sit back and allow something like this to go on. Again, I don't know if I can let my son play for coaches like this. I can't speek for anyone else, but I know that I don't want my son to think that this kind of behavior is ok.

want to get cussed go to hampton want to get coached go somewhere else it's that simple.

  2. There's not a school around, I'm sure, where this hasn't been encountered. Truth to tell, every kid hears language like that or far worse in everyday conversation. It's nothing new to them. I've overheard stuff said between kids in idle conversation that threw me for a loop. Times have changed, I guess not for the better in that regard, but it's true. If you keep your kids from playing for a coach because of bad language, will you keep them from ever watching TV? From ever seeing movies? From working in the real world? I work with guys who cuss like sailors. I don't like it, but I don't use it myself. At some point, kids see and hear A LOT more than parents realize. The point is, coaches use what means they can to communicate with their players. It doesn't mean those coaches don't care for those kids. Far from it. They know those players can do better, hense the getting on them from time to time. Take a listen to Charlie Bayless on his sideline sometime. whoa. It's everywhere, there's no getting away from it, I'm afraid.

you've got to be kidding me.do you people read your posts before you put them on here?and people want to know whats wrong with todays world.you say they did it back in the good old days but today aint the good old days these kids are exposed to way to many bad things and need guidence in todays world.some of these young people may have only one role modle in their life most of the time it's a coach or teacher, and if they are allowed to act like this then where are we headded???????????????????????

  3. i don't want anyone to take this too bad, because i bleed blue and go to almost all sporting events etc. but last night during the boys game i set behind the boys and observed the worst thing i have ever seen in a ballgame from a coach at hampton no names are going to be mentioned but afterr seeing how one of the coachs jumped in one of the boys faces and degraded him and told him how bad he was (in so many words) right in is ear as loud as he could

then after that one of the fans try to take up for the boy (a Woman) he told her off too. As for me if i had a child that could play high school basketball it would not be for him also this bulldog team has alot of talent and could go along way with a little ENCOURAGMENT not downing and cusing!!!

it's the same way in football and it's crazy that this is always over looked when is some one going to put a stop to this kind of stuff?all coaches get on their players but the cusing is way over the top. what kind of message does this send to the up and comming players and their parents?someone defend this one if you dare.

  4. Why don't Drew and Devon get to play more up on the Creek? I would take these 2 over any other player they've got. I watched the Stoner Creekers play Science Hill and the Toppers sorta couldn't stop Drew. And Devon always plays as hard as he can and was starting last year as freshmen. They hardly even got to see the floor during the Hampton game. Just seems kinda dumb to me...

lord tdog vader or what ever you're going by this time. havent you learned you earn pt by putting the ball in the net not by typeing on it?????????????????

  5. If I were a Hampton person, my concern would be this. Who is going to Coach football in the future. Its easy to look at all these area schools and see that good Coaches are extremely hard to come by. Unicoi and Unaka are 2 prime examples, they go through Coaches over and over ,but it don't seem like their success ever changes. Not to many proven winners out there. I can't see JC coaching to much longer and if Mike steps down ,where do you go from there. I'm not knocking these schools or coaches who have a hard time of achieving success. But its easy to see, something just ain't right. Hampton could get lucky and get a Great Coach ,but if you look around, the chances are pretty slim. I know the win ,loss percentages of all these area Coaches ,I know who wins and loses, the big winners are very few.

you do realize that people can go back and read your previous posts don't you?i thought mike didn't want to be the head coach??????????? drop this thread you are loosing more and more cred with every post and to be honest it's a little sad.

  6. JC has probably forgot more about football than most people have ever known, the only problem is, I don't think he can remember it. lol

this makes me sick you of all people should know what you are doing to a great legend in jc as far as i'm concerned you have lost all coacht cred.you speak of all these great life lessons or socalled life lessons then you get on here and do this to jc ????????? no way out of this one eather. you crossed the line that only a few even know is there thats part of what gave you cred you can say it's all about the kids but it's really about you and mike there is a protocall that should have been observed i'm done with this. now deal with it.

  7. I hate Happy Valley as much as I despise the Creekers, maybe even more. But there is no comparison between Bayless and Snavely. Bayless is a legend. He has a state championship and a gazillion wins. He may not have won many games this year, but he has at least competed with most of the teams on his schedule with equal or maybe even less than the amount of talent that Snavely has. Unaka has been beaten like a drum by almost everyone. I don't think Snavely commands the respect of his players like Bayless does either. In the District tourney game between UH and Unaka, I seen Snavely take out one of his players, and that player looked at Snavely and said "what in the he!! are you doing?" If a player had said that to Bayless, Charlie would have done one of two things: he would have told that player to go to the locker room and that he had played his last game, or he would have slapped the punk up under the bleachers...

that is the entire problem and it's not on ronnie snavelys head that kind of behavior goes on the player and his parents.disrespect yourself and others should not be tollerated where's mommy and daddy when their son is comming off the court acting like that.now get on here and deffend those kinds of actions.

  8. Why does it seem that one person is writing for several different names? Writing style is easy to detect and you of all people should know this. Why is it always about playing those young kids? Hey, you know one of these days your son will not be one of those young kids. Will it still be all about playing them then? In every sport it is the same thing, blame the coach. Ronnie Snavely is a good man and you could learn a few things from him.

Why is there two reporters covering Unaka's basketball games now?

  9. zaA - let's just wait until your kid grows up a little and starts sports and see how you handle some of the bad mouthing you've given to others on here and see if you might be a little more sympathetic once it happens to your own. I'm not saying it was right but you seem to always jump in there with both feet to make the snippy comments. As stated before if the parents were not happy or the player for that matter - it could have been handled at a better time than during a game and with the events that occurred. Emotions run high and sometimes people let them get the better of them. This really does put the player in the middle and could make for a rough finish to a year that's supposed to be the best one. Hopefully, things will die down and everyone will move on but who knows. And I agree that this could and does happen at alot of schools you just don't hear about it until it's a little closer to home and happens to be posted on an electronic bathroom wall.

to all the parents who have set in the stands and cussed a good man you are partly responaable for the actions of that crazy woman friday night.some of you get on the pa and talk about good sportsmanship and lay the mic down and become the worst sport in the gym.some are nice to his face then stab him in the back with your words.some go home and say bad things about a man working hard to be a good rolemodle for your son when they should be supportive or say nothing.how canyou expect the young men to reach their potential when they keep getting these mixed signals?

  10. Monday night, Unaka High School Junior Varsity played Science Hill in a great game. I noticed that the two junior coaches from Hunter Elementary used the majority of players that attended Hunter Elementary School and most of the bench warmers were from Unaka Elementary. What kind of signal is this sending to the creekers? If you want to play basketball at the high school level, you MUST attend Hunter Elementary School. Also, this was a junior varsity game and the majority of players were freshmen. Are we just going to forget the seniors and juniors on the varsity? Then forget the sophomores on the junior varsity and just put all of our eggs in a basket with the up and coming freshmen? (Unless you are from Unaka Elementary!) I guess since we are building a new program, we need to take all the talent Hunter can give us and just forget anyone coming from any other school. (Keenburg included) I'll admit, there were some good players on the floor, but there were good players on the bench as well. For every good thing done by a couple players, they did two bad ones, but they still played. I'm guessing because they were from Hunter Elementary School. I've noticed that Unaka has changed in the last couple of years. My opinion, is it's not been for the better. Looking at the varsity, most players are from Hunter Elementary School. I guess in four years, you CAN run all the players from Unaka Elementary out. Why let them try out? Why even have a basketball program at Unaka Elementary School? I actually thought that the playing field was even and coaches took what talent they had and made it better, but I guess that only counts if you come from Hunter. Unaka players must just be practice fodder. How nice that they can serve a purpose. There's a divide in the ranks of the program at Unaka High School. This will only poison anything and everything. I guess the basketball court is just as political as getting a job in carter county. I'll be looking to see just how far Hunter can take us and just how long it will take to run all the Unaka Elementary players off. Great job guys!!

maybe it's time to look at changeing the coach at unaka elem. seems to me that is where the problem lies. sometimes players come in behind and it's hard for the highschool coaches to make up the ground in one or even two years these coaches will play the best and try to develop as many as possible but you must admit it's hard to start out in a hole.just a thought.look at the past when there were strong coaches at both schools.

  11. krich i have always respected your work,it just conserns me when you come to the aid of the waterboy,i dont want to see you loose lockeroom cred. i understand opinions especially with football if you run you should throw if you throw you should run hindsight is always20-20 but thats what makes it great you of all people should understand that,we were hopeing for some insight as to why they do some of the thing they do,knowing these coaches they have a plan.what changes have they made this season and what is their next move with the playoffs coming up ?we are counting on you out here in computer land.time for my morning coffe.

It seems krich and rangerbook are trying to give their honest opinions about the Rangers. Is that not one luxury of being a fan, showing loyalty on winning nights and critics on the nights that your team takes a loss.

  13. The unaka boys are coming together as a team. they have just as strong a team this year as they did last year. I think better in alot of ways. They play more as a TEAM , they dont have that kid that thought he was the "Big Show" , the one that tried all the fancy passing , that just lost the ball 75% of the time, because no one ever expected the pass, he always went for the hole. oh, the reason they look like they don't want to be on the floor is likley to be because they get their a$$'s chewed out  for playing good or bad, i dont understand this method of coaching. i think a pat on the back every once in a while would go far !  a kind word is always heard , but all that yelling is  usually ignored . something else i dont understand , why do the coaches sit back and look relaxed  when the boys are getting beat , and if they get up 10 points on a team , there jumping up and down like kangaroos yelling instructions and "Coaching"  . someone help me , explain this method. there afraid to shoot  because if they miss, they get pulled and chewed again ,  you all know the ole saying , " danged if i do, danged if i dont" . i completely understand the boys  expressions . i watch em all.
