  1.

CA pulls early upset which could put 'em in the driver's seat for the district crown. Santa Fe is in 2nd with a battle against CA looming next week. Can one of the bottom for step up and be a spoiler?

CA is 12-2. MP is 5-6. The game was played at CA. How can that be considered an upset?

  2. It was definitely high octane. No need for a shot clock. Close until the very end. One of MP's players dove into the stands and was injured. With that and losing players to fouls, Summertown pulled away in the end. It was worth my $5.00.

  3. ok people let it go...sadly it has become regular for controversy and mTp to be together...there obviously not punishing kids enough or things wouldn't keep happening...but, like others said, this IS a public forum, and there is no reason to bash kids on here.

Be careful Mr. CA for that comment. I also know of several athletes at your school who have been accused of things that are a lot more serious than this. Does that mean you don't punish kids? No. Sometimes kids do stupid things.

  4. His privacy is respected. We don't believe you discuss personal things about kids on a public forum. You insinuate that MP doesn't care what he may or may not have done. Where is the conviction for stealing? Has anyone at SF ever been pushed at school and then pushed that individual back? MP people really don't care what you expect. Let it go.

Exactly the reason we are having this conversation. He should know better than to put himself in such situations. That should come with the spotlight. Demario Williams, Tyler Jean, Mathew Williams....ever heard of anything happening anywhere close to this with their names mentioned? Didn't think so. Stop making excuses.

What excuses did I make? I have thought of several "kids in the spotlight" that aren't as perfect as the three you just named. I just don't think you have to discuss it with the world.

  5. So--cullypride--you have managed to interpret our silence --on a public fourm--as an admission of guilt on the part of a young player. You should, instead, have seen it for what it is--a sign of respect for that player and the program.

    :hungry: ??

So he's respected and patted on the bottom for stealing and fighting?? I wouldn't expect anything less from MTP.

I know the kid has been in trouble not that long ago and nothing was done and I know he only got 2 days of suspension for fighting instead of the normal 3 so he could play tonight. Is there really anything else to know?

You have no clue what you are talking about on either occasion. He was suspended three days. Don't know how you count in Culleoka. Let's do it together.

    Thursday One day

    Friday Two days

    Monday Three days

Let's say it together. Three days. Don't talk about something that you don't know.

  7.

Where do you get Cully can't keep up with MTP? Cully has been the better team both times they have met this year but have given the game away late. No matter what happens tonight, win lose or draw, MTP is the most over-rated team around. Go ahead and say they are ranked 6th in state or 2nd on here blah blah blah, but they are no where close to the same league as the Cully, Summertown or Moore Co. teams that were near the top in recent years.

I'm sure Cully was the better team tonight too. Why do they need to keep up with teams from past years? They just need to keep up with teams this year. I agree they are ranked too high but rankings mean nothing.

  8. Ca-49

    MTP-41

Just heard. Congrats to Ca. Did #23 play for mtp?

Of course he did. They not going to make him sit out the biggest game of the year thus far. He will probably be punished in a game with not as much on the line....if he is even punished at all.

Why should he have been punished? Do you know something the rest of us don't? I've watched the MP coach for about 10 years. I don't believe he would play a kid who didn't deserve to play, regardless of who they are playing.

  9. 3 Tech's in this game.. 1 on MP coaach 2 others on MP players... TONS of fouls on both teams... /quote]

The tech on the coach was ridiculous. How many times do you see a coach get a technical in the first quarter for hollering "WALK" when he thinks a call is missed? Coaches do that all of the time. The same official called all three techs.

It's really difficult to see which team is better. I think the two teams shot over 60 free throws in the game. And these are 2 of the top 3 teams in the district. Kind of hard for any team to get in a flow when they call the game that tight.

But there was a great atmosphere is the gym. Could just be that everyone had cabin fever.

  10. I don't think any of those refs have coached at culleoka. You must be mistaken. Also, our student section was fired up and motivating our players. Not a word of support was heard from Mt Pleasant's side. Then the last 3 or 4 minutes some cheering students appeared from somewhere! Sad to be only victory fans and not supporting fans.

Definitely one of the officials coached the girls at Cully a few years back. I believe his last name was Cox. Just ask around. I agree your student section was good. It was homecoming for Cully. MTP didn't have many students there. Could be they couldn't afford to travel and pay to get into three road games in one week. Could be they don't care about basketball. Don't understand the comment about victory fans. The Tigers have only lost 3 games. Of course there wasn't much of a student section from Cully when they played at MTP. So much for support.

  11. The same ref that coached at Cully was the one making all the calls. He was terrible. Hands down. Both games Cully has had a 7-9 point lead in the 4th. MTP isn't that good. They can be beat by anyone. Only reason they won last night was because they were in the double bonus for the last 10 mins of the game. Say what you want but it's the truth.

Maybe they can be beaten by anyone but only two teams have beaten them. Neither was Culleoka. What does it matter that Cully had a 9 point lead in the fourth both games? They lost both too.

BTW I think that game was the 3rd game in 4 days for MTP. And they won all 3.

  12. MTP won by 5. Cully lead most of the game and by as many as 5 or 7 (cant remember) in the 4th. One ref kept them in the game last night. The fouls were 8 to 1, 4 minutes after halftime with only one ref making a call. COUNTLESS over-the-back calls weren't called. MTP really isn't that good. They can definately be beat. I think the tournament might turn out differently than many think. Anyone could beat anyone on any given night.

I think it is odd that you are complaining about the officials. One of them used to coach at Culleoka. I also think it is odd that you are saying that your own team isn't any good. You stated that MTP isn't good and they beat Culleoka twice this year. So how bad do you think your team is?

I will say that your student section was fun to watch.

  13.

    MTP beat CA 71 - 66

CA basically gave the game away.

Isn't it odd how two people can watch a game and have two different opinions. It looked like to me that MP just was the better team. They executed down the stretch and stopped CA from penetrating and dishing. They also held the Williams kid from just breaking loose. Number 23 for MP is awesome. I think someone said he is just a freshman.

Regardless how anyone saw this game, it was a fun game to watch.

  14. My brief summary of 11a, mostly from reviewing this thread, in alphabetical order.

CA - They are well coached and have a lot of talent.

Culleoka - They either win, or when they lose, they go into the 4th quarter with a lead. This means they are consistent, for the most part, likely due to good coaching.

Mt. Pleasant - You will not beat them trying to better them atheletically, but might out coach them or catch them on a bad night.

Just curious how you judge a coach. CA and Culleoka have good ones and MP coach isn't any good. What is your criteria?
