You talk like you know a lot, but you are just speculating and that's how stuff gets started.

If you know someting for a fact, then say it. Otherwise, shut up.

  2. Maybe a ref out there can help me with this one....In the 2004-05 wrestling rule book on page 71....picture 95 (7-2-2) it states "the split scissors is potentially dangerous. The referre may break it to prevent injury."

Should the split scissor (what I call the bannana split), be stopped everytime someone is put in it?

    Can anyone clarify....Thanks

  3. DII is harder to win, but easier to place.....Many times the 4/5/6 place medal winners in DII are not as tough as their counterparts in DI.

But if you matched up last years winner's in both DI and DII, I believe DII would come out on top.....and I'm sure someone who has too much time will do just that in the next thread.

  4. "buzzards gotta eat, same as worms" is not Two Mules for sister sarah, it's Outlaw Josey Wales.

"Cuff and Link" is from Rocky

"you #$%^@, look at you now" is from Casio

    And the new one

"These aren't men that built the railroad, he peed on my rug"

  5. Well, since Region X has already been invented by Jose (better get the copywrite so you can make the money)...I would like to throw this out there....HOW about REGION DIX (french for 10)

    Possible slogans

Get your wrestling fix in Region Dix

Jump in the mix in region Dix

    and my favorite.......

Get your licks in Region Dix

Have you had the pleasure of tangling with Coach Casey, now that you are working together. He's a handful on the mat. Needless to say, CBHS has a pretty darn good set of coaches with those two.

It should be interesting when they battle Ridgeway early in the season.

  7. Don't forget about the guys from TN that came before this group and set the stage to get TN wrestling back on track. ie. Heath Eslinger, Kevin Baltz, Jim Casey, Craig Johnson, Ben Smith, Quantal Langford. They all started for UTC. All TN boys

  8. Pushing an opponent from the optional position is good hard-nose wrestling. It does a couple of things: 1) creates space, 2) makes the bottom wrestler uncomfortable and thus easier to score on 3) asserts dominace.

Anyone who thinks otherwise has not wrestled much. Watch a college match sometime or a Brands highlight tape.

  9. Bayou, I'll try again

Just b/c there are more teams in D1(130ish) does not mean there are more than 8 good teams that need to go to state duals.

Having good, par, and sub par teams wrestle at state duals just cause D1 has an abundance of teams is ridiculous.

The best teams will be there this weekend in both public and private. No one team that has a good shot was left out.

OK, that being said.....Yes Cleveland deserves to be at State Duals more so the MUS....but public schools wanted to be seperate, so deal with it.

  10. Maybe DI should have a 64 team bracket....a Feb Madness. Would that end this thread?

Just casue there are over 130 DI teams, doens't mean there are more than 8 that deserve to go to state duals. Show me a really good D1 team that is not in the state tourney and maybe you'll convince me.

As far as DII goes, maybe one of the teams doesn't deserve to be there in the grand scope of TN wrestling, but whatcha gonna go. Those are the rules.

  11. Takedown42...well said

More divisions wouldn't help. College is a different story. This is a TN state tourney, not the NCAAs.

The more divisions you create, the weaker the system becomes. Have 5 or 6 state champs is ridiculous.

  12. Oh, I love the competition. I'm just sick of hearing DI people complain about that stuff. Until we are one big happy division again (which won't happen), we will always have this problem. I have nothing against DI or DII. I'd love to see an All-Star Tourney. This weekend will be great.

  13. After reviewing the results of the DI Region tournaments, it occurs to me that it is completely unfair to allow only the DI Region winners into the State Duals while allowing three DII Region 2nd place teams and two DII Region 3rd place teams into the State Duals.

I am not saying the field for the DII tournament should be fewer teams.

Give me a break. You know what unfair is? Father Ryan, Baylor, McCallie, Christian Brothers, MBA, and Notre Dame all competing for the DII championship. While the DI will only be between Bradley and Soddy. MUS may not be very good at all, but that's the nature of the beast. I don't think any DI schools will be too upset that they don't have to get through the previously mentioned DII teams to get a championship.
