Got to agree with jimbo it's Cannon's going in but we all know how this district can go. One things for sure it's getting closer to tip off!!!!!!!!

Wondering if anyone knew the updated standings for the district?

I was windering how long it would be for someone to comment on the foul situation. I was able to make it to the game and saw all the calls. I didn't find the refs to be horrible, it is just hard for a team to foul when they have the ball 80% of the game as was the case. Once upperman got the ball they would give it to dyer or settle for a three or jump shot. That is why there were no calls against polk. If upperman had drove more and forced contact then they would have gotten calls and no one could foul dyer because she was 6 inches taller than everybody else. I thought that these were two good teams and a pretty good game, I would have liked to see what the score would have been if polk had of played the whole game like they did the 1st period but it was a good game plan in making dyer come out of the lane and guard somebody, that made a very good player uncomfortable playing defense. My only complain about the whole thing was that upperman's coach and players didn't shake hands after the game. I know losing is not fun but come on.

I am still amazed at how some fans view and see things during and after a game. Upperman waited patiently single file with the coach in line to shake hands. One Polk player came through the line the rest continued to celebrate and then left the floor.COME ON don't be blaming Upperman for pure sportsmanship. Enjoy your trip to the boro but this one is over.

22-2 is amazing to me. I didn't see the game, so I can't really say anything about specific calls, but a team as quick as the Lady Bees typically draw more than 2 fouls. When a newspaper writes solely about the unbalanced fouls, then it must have been pretty bad. Upperman 22 fouls, Polk County 2 fouls. I guess losing by 12 points was pretty amazing because with stats like that, they should have lost by 30. Do any states have a shot clock in high school basketball? Tennessee needs one! Im really getting tired of watching 70's style four corners crap.

 

Is in not a good thing to run an offense that gives you the best opportunity to win? Yes the fouls were lopsided but Polk ran zone the entire game and did not foul. Most of Uppermans fouls were in the 4th quarter while trying to catch up, with tired guards from chasing the four corners.

Lets keep the facts straight. The fouls were 12 to 1 in the first half and 12 to 1 in the second half. Not from playing catch up in the 4th.

I am a follower of McMinn Central. We beat an awesome Upperman team last year, then turned around and go it handed to us by a tough LA team. Good basketball in your area- be proud of that.

 

I going on the assumption that MC will host Saturday. Who will we play? I know the bees are a good bunch. What did they lose from last year? We were supposed to be rebuilding, but I think we are stronger this year than last. There is no way trash talk will come from my mouth- I have said it is disappointing every year we have to play your region. Any other region I could say we are at state with confidence.

Hey cabinman, I remember the trip down there last year like it was yesterday. Met some nice people and the atmosphere was great. The ride home wasn't so fun. If you win you will get the loser of the Cannon vs Upperman game tonight. I met old Thug down there last year haven't heard much from him this year. Hope lil thug is doing ok. See, they wanted to cancel the region tournament last year when Upperman was the favorite, but ya know, things happened. Some people just run their mouths behind a screen name. Only thing I would book right now would be the final four: Upperman vs 28,000 point underdog Livingston Academy (why play this game? Livingston hasn't beaten them since? Oh yeah, two weeks ago.) Then Grundy vs Cannon County (sorry DC.) See ya soon.

Now King I think I would stay away from the hiding behind screen NAMES thing, but hey that's just me.

I don't have a dog in the hunt but my congrats goes out to Grundy Co. 42 played a outstanding game last night. I've always thought the best compliment you could receive as a player was not to get an award, but rather to here someone say I LIKE TO WATCH YOU PLAY! So I told her that on the way out last night. The atmosphere was great last night and both teams played hard, but Grundy dug deep and finish great down the stretch. Nice job ladies!!!!!!

Side note.

I was the one that ask the question about the game time and place. The reply I received was hilarious to me. I didn't see it as a knock on the school or the kids just someone breaking the tension up that seems to be everywhere this time of year.

Well Jimbo it's got quiet again.

Chattanooga Christian and Grundy into the finals. I was told CCS won 47-41 over Bledsoe. Grundy won 48-39 over Sequatchie at Grundy. Sequatchie trailed by 6 at halftime but led 30-28 going into the fourth. Grundy took the lead for good with 5:30 left with their posts getting most of the points after both of Sequatchie's starting posts had fouled out (a key part of any game, not just this one). Up until then both had scored some but hadn't been overwhelming. In the last couple of minutes the lead ranged from 7-10. Sequatchie plays Bledsoe Monday unless any crazy weather causes changes, Grundy vs CCS Tuesday.

Where are the games being played? What times?

Just watch Mon night and see how many open looks she gets from an illegal screen!! Good luck and may the best team win.

Congrats to Upperman. An upset #3 over a #2 isn't an upset when the top three teams were determined by coin toss. A win is a win though.

Three from the third place team make first team? Shelby Taylor should have been first team.

 

Correct me if I am wrong but Upperman was not the 3rd place team nor was Livingston the 2nd place team or even Cannon 1st. They all tied for 1st. The coin flip only determined the places for the brackets so to say there was three players selected from the 3rd place team is incorrrect.
