  3. Thank you KS...

IndianBlue....I do appreciate the acknowledgment of how our team played this weekend and our new found commitment to each other on the field. Those are two of the biggest reasons I took this job and accepted this role. I do not know who you are nor do I really care. However, if all you can find to whine about is money, then that pretty much sums it up. You're just looking for something to whine about. I will not make excuses for how we do things. You are either with us or you are against us. All I ask is for my program, as a whole,(players, parents, and friends) to work hard and be committed to a first class mentality. As a result, one of two things is true....1. you are not a player, parent, or friend of the program or 2. you are not doing what is asked of you by your team.

    Thank you, Coach Jones (DISS78)

Harpeth had a decent day in their first scrimmage. Presley was definitely rusty, but he will come around. Overall a good (not great) performance. East Robertson was not world beaters, but the team took care of business. The young pitching staff is an impressive and somewhat surprising addition. "H" Baseball should be competitive all year.

Jones seems to be doing a good job with the guys and building a commitment to success on the field from all players. However, I feel his administrative capabilities are lacking. Fund raising, money for spring break, money for a chartered bus, why so much "stuff" (sweats, pullovers, spikes, turfs, uniforms) I feel he should and could do a better job. Seems he wastes a lot of money that could be used in a better fashion.

Complaints from parents are increasing now that the "bus" issue has come up. Is the Honeymoon period over for Jones and staff?

  4. I feel there are 2 important aspects:

    1. The high school team needs to continue building chemistry. That is done through offering high school players the opportunity to stay together during the summer. Additionally, if good players cannot afford the expensive travel ball...this is an opportunity to be seen.

    and/however

    2. If there are college prospects on your team, then they need more exposure outside of middle TN. That is where some of the high profile/expensive travel teams are important. Unfortunately, some coaches do not allow their players to play on both teams....and unfortunately, some of our best athletes do not have the financial means to play for the bigger travel teams.

Biggest question....What are we (parents and coaches) doing to make the game fun for our kids and at the same time putting them and their team in a position to be the most successful.

  5. Whats up with all of Harpeth's players being required to be early and stay late for field prep, batting practice, varsity games, jv games, and cleanup. Will they get a break. Now Jones is giving them all a varsity jersey. What a slap in the face. I thought he was gonna have two separate teams so it did not turn into last years problem of no jv games. I am getting tired of him changing his mind all the time. STICK TO WHAT YOU SAY PLEASE!!!

Here is "Whats up"...I have 22 guys committed to me and this program. We are one team and they all deserve a jersey, jv or varsity playing time, and recognition for turning things around in less than a year. I/We now do things in a first class manner that includes commitment at a level this team has never been asked to provide. This includes field preparation, batting practice, all games, cleanup, fund-raising, and attitude. Quit trying to tear us down. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT TAKE YOUR SON AND LEAVE.(and quit hiding behind this screen name)(yes, i am calling you out, step up)

  6. You guys seriously think that Macon County is going to out perform Goodpasture? Rose colored glasses is an understatement. Goodpasture will be the team to beat year after year in this district. They have been to the state tournament three years in a row and won 2 out of three. And, you think that Maco Co. will win......lol...And, White House will finish ahead of Macon Co. too if not Greenbrier..

This just my opinion but this is how I think its going to play out.

    1. Macon Co.

    2. Goodpasture

    3. White House

    4. Greenbrier

    5. Hume Fogg (dont know much about them)

    6. Scyamore

    7. Westmoreland

  7. PROBABLY THE 30 POINTS BECAUSE IM SURPRISED A TEAM HASNT DOUBLE TEAMED HIM AND SENT ANOTHER GUY AT HIM WHEN HE DROVE. I KNOW STEPHON CURRY WAS HELD SCORELESS EARLIER THIS YEAR BUT HIS TEAM STILL WON BY 30 POINTS. IM NOT SAYING THAT I WOULD GUARD HIM THAT WAY. IM JUST SURPRISED NO ONE HAS DID THAT. WELL MAYBE A TEAM HAS TRIED THAT BUT I DOUBT IT . I BELIEVE JJ WOULD HIT THE OPEN GUY IF THAT HAPPENED. I DONT EVEN THINK KOBE BRYANT COULD SCORE 30 IF HE HAD 2 GUYS GUARDING HIM AND ANOTHER READY TO HELP ON THE DRIVE.

Ask upperman, hickman county, goodpasture, and community how the triangle 2 works...

All these teams used the triangle and 2 with a triple team on the drive. Wrong answer, John is still too good.

The only chance anyone has of winning is by letting John get his and stopping everyone else.

Ask Lipscomb, Kenwood, and Livingston...man to man defense, john scores 40+, and SC loses.

  8. Good luck this year BigA!

FYI, if you get a chance you need to come watch Station Camp play this season and next. Another Sumner County superstar is in the making. John Jenkins is a Junior and lit the AAU world on fire this summer. Gilespie (Kentucky) was here last month and Stansbury (Mississippi State) was here this morning. Apparently he is the real deal. I have not seen him play since his injury last year. However, If the SEC is already coming to see him.........!

I dont think he is the all around play that Corey is but offensively he is legit. I am partial to Corey though! What a lucky draw that my first two years of coaching were coaching an NBA athlete.

Holla Back when you get a chance,

    Donny
