1. Congrats to Baylor on a great end to their season!

Both the offense and defense really stepped up when it counted, as Baylor scored 5 out of the 10 goals in the tournament, and shutting out two very high-powered offenses from Ryan and CBHS.

  2. QUOTE(SpeedyGonzo @ May 26 2007 - 09:07 PM) 826467839Just out of curiosity, how many club players does Baylor have, and which clubs do they play for?

    Sounds like they are young.

True? If so, they just beat a veteran team. The CBHS coach benched a lot of the senior class two years ago to let this year's senior class play a lot when they were sophomores---and then juniors the next year.

No judgement here--just stating that these guys have played a lot.

This was his golden-boy class, loaded with Fury 89, former Memphis FC 89 who are now Kickers 89, and Fury and MFC 90.

Most have been club state finalists or semifinalists.

    Very disappointing for the Brothers.

They should be able to score one goal on Baylor.

Shoulda and a quarter gets you a quarter.

    Congrats to Baylor.

Michael Deere, JB Murphy (seniors) and Zander Davis (Junior) play for East Ridge Express '89

Kelly Smith (Junior) has played with IMG but I am pretty sure will be playing with TNFC '90

Carter Paden and Chris Wilson (Juniors) play for PSA '90

David Burt and Chris Clemmer (Sophmores) PSA '91

and Danny vanValkinburg and Andrew Roden (Juniors) played with CFC until they recently disbanded

  3. QUOTE(jon26 @ May 25 2007 - 08:24 AM) 826466813Wow how classless shim since everyone knows you are Webb.

Haha so true. I guess you can really see a person's true character when put in a situation where they have just lost their season. Many people will agree that the best from the east region was between Baylor and McCallie. It is frustratiing that both could not contend for the state title. Either way, The best of luck to Webb next year.

  4. Baylor continued their scoring drought Monday against CSAS and did not manage to score on King's Academy until the second half before scoring three. I guess they have just felt sort of jinxed over the last few games. And as for the Notre Dame game on Saturday, Baylor will not be playing any starters in that game as to avoid injuries before the region tournament.

  5. Junir Danny vanValkinburg of Baylor has allowed only 2 goals in 9 games. He had a very low goal percentage last year as a sophmore as well (i think about 5 ga), and in my opinion is clearly one of the top keepers in the state

  6. I agree that Ryan has been doing much better in the latter part of their season, but not much credit has been given to Baylor for the last part of their season. Baylor lost 2 games, one to Knox Catholic and one to McCallie, and both games were 1-0 games. Baylor ended up beating McCallie in the region finals. I'm quite unbiased between these two teams, but Baylor's record and season stats are hard to count out. I also watched the Baylor/Ryan game in which, even though it was a 1-1 tie, Baylor controlled the game. I would definitely give Baylor the upper hand in this game.

  7. I think this will be a close fought match, but Webb will take Baylor to town with a 2-1 win. Webb wants revenge for their unlucky loss against Baylor earlier in the season. What do you think?

  8. I think that if Notre Dame plays as well as they have been recently (such as when they tied Baylor 2-2) then McCallie will only win 2-0 or 2-1. Having seen both teams play on more than one occasion leads me to think this will be a hard fought game, but it would be extremely surprising if Notre Dame somehow pulls through with a win.

  9. I'm somewhat confused as of the the the top 3 teams on the last list. It is quite well known that Chris Bach is Baylor's deadliest striker. Last year's season yielded Notre Dame losing Robby Miller, top player in the city, and other assets, and McCallie lost some support from last year's class as well. Baylor lost a couple players but not to much on the attacking end. Without Chris Bach last year, Baylor beat Notre Dame 3-0 and McCallie 4-0. Think of it any way you like, but I'd give Baylor the upper hand this year, no questions asked.

  10. Notre dame as always has an excellent team. With a tough schedule, and i mean they dont take a break from playing the best teams from each division, everyone should be able to see their true colors early. But as always one slip in the post season could be just a repeat of last year. This post is quite true and unbiased because i cheer for a rival school but still dish out the respect as needed.

  11. we are having a practice this thursday night(may 26) at 6:45 at camp jordan, its not really official tryouts but it will let the coach get a good look at some of the new players, practices will be pretty regular after that, not really sure on the dates yet though or how much it costs. I know its not that expensive compared to other teams

  12. Who do y'all think will win the semifinal games tomorrow? Baylor plays Knox Catholic and McCallie plays Notre Dame. Both games should be good. Baylor and Catholic tied 0-0 earlier and Mccallie has beaten Notre Dame 2-0.

  13. bring as many players as you want, and in response to your question about where the players are from, we have a handful from Lakeview-Fort O, two or three from Baylor, a couple from Red bank, east rifge, pretty much all over.

  14. The result of the ND-King game was a 6-0 victory for ND. Knox Catholic beat Knox Webb 1-0. The semifinals are both scheduled for Tuesday. Baylor plays Catholic at 5:30 @ Baylor while Notre Dame plays @Mccallie at I think 5:00.

  15. I play on a team from East Ridge (Chatt.) and we are always looking for more players. We're a u-17 team who finished 2nd in the div 2 tournament as u-16 this past fall and are moving up to division 1 this year. This will be our second year as a team and i think we wil be pretty competative in d1. Tryouts are june 14 at east ridge. Call coach Sheldon Grizzle @ 629-0117 for more info. We are looking for both a keeper and field players. We need some strong forwards.

  16. Ok seriously though...

The Golden Eagles of Grace completely ruin another Senior Night.  :D Too bad. Sorry Boyd and Baylor. The civilized world has been shocked.

Also, I was at the game and Baylor's senior night was not 'ruined' by this loss. They still had their cookout and activites and just sook the loss off and moved on.

What really bothered me was the way the Grace players reacted after the win. After the game a few of the players, not all of them, started yelling money can't buy you skills, making catcalls to baylor's managers, and other things like that. The Baylor guys were much better sports in defeat than the Grace boys were in a win.
