Corky played point guard for Belmont and stayed on as an assistant for a year or two under Coach Bandy before going into property management, then insurance. At Belmont, he was in charge of making sure former Father Ryan star Reggie Little went to class.
Kip has retired from education and now does free lance work as a consultant to school systems.
Speaking of Easterly, he went to Alabama-Huntsville and had a pretty good career, spent a lot of time recovering from injury. Remember Malcolm Manier? He was a JUCO All-American in Cincinnatti and went on to play two years at D1 Georgia State.
Former Blue Devils Leon Love and longrange shooter Jamie Shannon both wound up at D2 Lincoln Memorial. Leon coaches the Wilson Central 9th graders now.

Here's a few guys from the 70s and 80s -- shooting guard Kip Puryear (Class of 73) who played at MTSU; point guard Corky Cross (Class of 75) who played at Belmont; forwards Nathanial McCarver & William Jennings (72) who helped take the Blue Devils to the 1972 semifinals of the state at Vandy -- I think both went to Juco; current Wilson Central coach Troy Bond who played at TSU. Several former Gibbs players were standout football guys -- LoHarrel Stevenson DE at MTSU; Danny Watkins Little AA LB at UT-Martin; Richard Rhodes 2-year starter in secondary at Cincinnati; Vincent Harris -- TE @ MTSU and TSU.
The land for the new LHS has been purchased. Today's big hang-up is between the county commission and the school board is over funding the construction project. Commission has gone on record as opposing Hewlet-Spencer and the guaranteed maximum price. Several old-timers wanted a new building constructed on the existing LHS campus. Almost all the commission prefers hard bids. School board is in love with H-S for some reason.
Much bickering and NO TURNING OF DIRT. If they started tomorrow -- it would be two, maybe three years before the kids could move in.

What will the Blackman coaching staff look like now that Shad is back? Will any of the present assistants be staying? Will Robbins go with him?

Looking from the outside, it appears there have been several coaching changes at MCHS over the past 10-15 years. Someone please list the head coaches over this time and how long each man stayed.

E5
King has an iron-clad contract at Watertown and cannot escape. In fact, they've got him in irons.

True -- she will sign papers Wednesday night, Dec. 3.

This clip is VERY impressive. Best of luck to this young man.

Any details from Tuesday night's win by the Bears in the opening round of the Leroy Wright Tournament? Top scorers for both team, that sort of thing. Thanx.

Boys only game tonight. Big ceremony at intermission recognizing the all the players and coaches from the first scheduled game over four decades ago between then all-black Wilson County High (the Trojans) and all-white Lebanon. Game was played exactly 42 years ago in the same gym.

Saw the MJ - Hillsboro game on Friday and came away VERY impressed with No. 4 Alex Crutcher. He was flying on a very wet field. First snap he went 77 and broke two tackles. Of course Gordon is a stud, but Crutcher gives HHS a very tough 1-2 punch. I heard he's headed to Texas Tech. Another reason why UT's program has fallen -- letting these in-state kids get away. Where is Gordon going? Also -- the Hillsboro kicking game is outstanding. No. 14 was booming kickoffs and supposedly No. 86 hasn't missed a PAT in years.

I remember some years ago they hired an "outsider" to take over at Unicoi County and he did good things there. Louis Thompson was his name and he went on to win a couple of state titles at Lincoln County after leaving Unicoi.

They have closed schools in Hardin County on Friday due to a virus making the rounds. Are any of the football players sick?

I think Monterey had two kids ejected. No 42 / Caleb Miller was one -- he was caught throwing a punch in a pile. Also No. 50 / Jimmy Wilson got the boot. Watertown wrapped up the regular season 6-4. Monterey 2-8.

Final -- MJ 21, Clarksville 7. Mt. Juliet's defense had a couple of big second half stops on fourth down. The Wildcats led 7-0 at intermission, but it was all Bears after intermission.
-
Two changes so far in Wilson County -- MJ Christian will host Friendship Christian on the 30th; and Mt. Juliet High will host Clarksville Northwest on the 30th.
-
First round games are tonight -- Monday -- at the higher seeds, right? Is there a standard time or does each school make that decision independently?

2priceless -- heartfelt, classy remarks about the Blue Devils and the rivalry. Coach McDaniels has things going in the right direction at OHS. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Lebanon dominated time of possession and out-snapped Oakland 79-38. LHS had 20 first downs, Oakland 4 -- the first one coming with 1:02 left in the third period. Maynard completed 20-of-42 passes for 229 yards to six different receivers with ZERO PICKS. Lebanon has now won 8 of the last 9 meetings with Oakland.

Yep, she's the youngest of the four Cross sisters. Courtney went to Lipscomb, Candice played softball and ran X-country at Union, No. 3 was a cheerleader and Camille is No. 4 -- outstanding in softball and soccer. Their dad was an option QB at Lebanon and played college basketball at Belmont.

Trousdale County defeated MJ Christian 25-20, 22-25, 25-8, 21-25 and 16-14. White House defeated host Watertown 3-2, but I do not have game scores. If someone does, please post. Last game Monday, Station Camp defeated Westmoreland 3-1 -- again, anyone with those game scores please post.

Visitor seating has been expanded some. Getting in and out is always tricky and parking can be a ZOO. There is a three-level parking area on the left just as you enter campus. Best to park there and walk around the school to the stadium. And don't be in a big hurry to get out, there's only one way off the property. Pack something for a late nite snack and hang out at the car waiting for the traffic to clear out.

The Wilson Post is reporting Wilson Central's Jasmine Hassell has verbally committed to theUniversity of Georgia.

You know he's an undertaker -- no kidding. He owns eight suits and drives a restored hearse.

How is No. 33 Brady Earnhardt? I heard he had a concussion. Is he feeling better and what is his status for Rossview? He and his brother (No. 3) are two fine young men.

Has there ever been talk of moving the varsity games from Boyce Smith Field to the "new" school. The playing surface seems very good, but the press box, rest rooms, concessions are certainly lacking. Does everyone in town (junior pro, etc.) play at Boyce Smith?
