  2. Please don't take this the wrong way. Lebanon High's coaching search stretched out for about six weeks before landing Sam Harp (300-plus career wins & 7 state titles in Kentucky). The Lebanon AD told a buddy of mine who was concerned about how long the process was taking, "I can hire anybody tomorrow, or I can keep looking for the right guy". Hang in there Indy. Here's hoping your patience will be rewarded.

  3. I think the guy is coming off Dewayne Alexander's staff at Cumberland. He had one season of HS experience at Lebanon. If it's who I think it is, he's a good young coach -- but he will need the full support of the administration to make a go of it. MJCA is located close enough to Mt. juliet High, Wilson Central, DCA and Antioch to get several kids who might not want to sit the bench at these other places. GET SERIOUS ABOUT FOOTBALL -- allow some teaching positions for assistant coaches and see what happens.

  4. Funeral services have been set for 1 p.m. Monday, March 19 at the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church for Lebanon High football legend Clifton Tribble, 76.

Coach Tribble, who spent 36 years in the Wilson County School System as a teacher, football coach and principal, died Friday, March 16 following an extended illness.

A member of the inaugural class of the LHS Sports Hall of Fame, he starred at fullback for the Blue Devils in the 1950s, then returned to LHS as head football coach in the 1960s where he led his team to the Clinic Bowl. He coached Louis Thompson and many other LHS standouts. He also spent many years as a TSSAA football official.

He leaves behind his wife Peggy, five children, 15 grandchildren ans 16 great grandchildren. The football field at the new LHS (set to open this fall) bears the name "Clifton Tribble Field".

  5. The Wilson Post in Lebanon reported Wednesday, Jan. 11 that Cumberland had made an official request to use, renovate and maintain Lebanon High's soon-to-be-vacant Nokes Lasater Field. The local school board will study the issue in a Jan. 21 work session and hopefully take action on Feb. 6. CU wants to play at N-L this fall.
