  1. PLEASE OFFER A PRAYER FOR MICHAEL AND HIS FAMILY -- Here's the story as of Tuesday AM:

A search is under way for Cumberland University football player Michael Bochette, 20.

A native of Mt. Juliet, Bochette has been missing since Sunday. His parents notified authorities Sunday night indicating it was out of character for the dean's list student to be gone without leaving word.

Bochette's dog was found Monday at a boat dock on Percy Priest Lake. The dog refused to leave the boat dock for several hours.

Bochette earned all-state honors as a fullback / linebacker at Mt. Juliet High School. He played linebacker for Cumberland University as a freshman but was moved to offense this season where he had worked his way into the rotation at fullback.

  2. The way the play was explained to me by an ex-ref, #53 of Gallatin could NOT catch a forward pass -- even if the ball was thrown behind the line of scrimmage. He could catch a lateral (basically a running play) if he was even with or behind the QB and then advance the ball. Players with #'s 1-49 and 80-99 are the only ones eligible to legally catch a forward pass. This guy has been out of officiating for a couple of years, but his explanation sounded solid to me.

  3. The speed sweep for Lebanon was to #4 A.J. Stewart for 52-yards. #6 Devin Adams scored on the next play from 8-yds. out. Adams finished with 55-yds. on 12. Gallatin DE Matt Robinson had an outstanding game with at least three QB sacks and a fumble recovery. GHS is very fast on defense, very big on offense.

  4. People can talk all they want about the Titans and the way they have played the past couple of years -- but the best decision they ever made was bypassing Moss in the draft and going instead with Kevin Dyson. What a nightmare Moss would have been in Nashville. He was a trouble maker in college and the beat goes on in the NFL.

  5. Lebanon has roughly 2500 seats on each side. Concrete stadium with wooden bench-style seats so bring your cushions. If you're looking for a pre-game meal -- there's a new Ryan's Steakhouse less than two blocks from the stadium.

  6. Friendship Christian senior post player Lauren Macpherson will sign an NAIA national letter of intent and scholarship papers with Freed Hardeman University September 6.

Macpherson, 6-1, was the top scorer for the Lady Commanders during the 2001-2002 season as a junior and helped her team reach the TSSAA Class A state tournament for the first time.

Freed Hardeman went 24-7 last season and 10-4 in the TranSouth Conference under the direction of veteran coach Dale Neal.

  7. The wide formations and throwing can be traced, at least in part, to the arrival of former Mt. Juliet head coach Dan Winfree to the Watertown coaching staff. I though Winfree did a very good job at Mt. Juliet putting his undersized team in a position to attack their opponents while spreading the field. Expect much of the same for the Tigers in 2002.

  8. My soph year we were playing our first game in our brand new white (double knit) uniform tops. It was halftime and we headed for the locker room. One of my pals was a third string QB. While waiting for the manager to get the door unlocked he leaned back against one of the big light poles located behind the stadium. Once the door was open everyone trooped in. After about two minutes or so we hear this yelling. It was Bill screaming like crazy. His jersey was stuck to a tar-like substance oozing out of the light pole. He couldn't move. When they finally pried him off the pole parts of his jersey was still stuck. They left his #5 in the locker room and gave him a # in the 80's for the second half. The jersey was never the same and we always managed a good laugh about it.

  9. LEBANON -- The newly formed Lebanon High School Blue Devil Football Alumni Association invites the public to attend their "Meet the Coach Fall Cookout" Saturday, August 10.

The $5 per plate event is scheduled for 5-7 PM on the LHS practice field adjacent to Nokes - Lasater Field.

New Blue Devil head coach Bobby Brown will be the guest of honor. Fans are invited to meet Coach Brown and to tour the recently remodeled varsity and freshman locker rooms.

  10. Malcolm was the Newcomer of the Year in his conference(the Ohio Community College Athletic Association) and was named to the NJCAA All-Region XII team. He's got another year left at Cinn. State and once he graduates --he'll certainly sign with an NCAA Division I program. Malcolm scored 17.4 per game for a team that won their conference and went 25-6.
