  1. supersteve, you are very correct....they dont take it serious at all in my opinion. i have nothing to back this up but if i had to guess i would say the majority of the voters just vote for the local athletes that they know about. i am a biased fan but there is no way that Willie Kemp shouldnt be second team if not first. he pretty much has his choice of which college he will attend after next season and some of these other guys wont even sign with a D1 school. i guess 2 state championships, state tournament MVP, Mr.Basketball finalist, and multiple high major offers just isnt enough anymore. this really isnt a big deal considering all the other achievements these guys have....it probably doesnt even bother the players. i just think it makes the press look bad and makes me not even want to pick up a paper and read their articles after seeing how little they know about the game.
  2. im pretty sure its a team with the top players from other countries.
  3. oops, wrong west.....bad thing is i got him on my fantasy team.
  4. your a wise man! dont get over confident about rolling through single A next year. i agree, i think they have a good shot at winning state and will be one of the favorites goin into next season but there are other teams capable of beating UC. this year we figured they would atleast roll into substate without any problems and look what happened. the good thing that came out of this years upset was that overlooking Ripley and getting that early exit should have them more focussed next year in the big games.
  5. i would gladly take him! he might have got that extra yard a few years ago.
  6. who cares...the winner is goin home in the first round of the playoffs. one team that could sneak up on the Padres is the overlooked D'backs. they added Shaun Green, Troy Glaus, Russ Ortiz and Sexson will be back this season.
  7. lol yea....that was back around the same time that Babe Ruth was still playing for the Redsox
  8. Edwards is bigger than most wr's, faster, more athletic, will make more defenders miss than Williams, and weight isnt a concern. Edwards likely wont be available at #6 anyway...i just rather have a guy that doesnt have questions about his weight surrounding him, which could cause a position change down the road. you're right about the h-back instead of rb i was mistaken.
  9. WHO????? Haren, Blanton, Meyer??? actually they just sent Meyer back down to the minors to start the season. nobody on the rotation is gonna be good this year except for Zito and Harden. maybe a couple of years from now the other 3 will be good but they are not good enough right now to get them to the playoffs. their lineup has no proven power hitters in it except for Chavez, i really doubt anyone else will even get to 30. not enough bats to beat the Angels over the season.
  10. this is a joke!!! lets see, where should i start...no Richard Delk whom is ranked in the nations top 100 seniors and has signed with Miss St., no Lawrence Kinnard whom has signed with UAB, no Willie Kemp(AA Mr. Basketball finalist) or Wayne Chism whom are both ranked in the nations top 100 juniors, no Nicchaeus Doaks whom is the A Mr. Basketball winner but the other 2 losing candidates made it. i could keep goin but im gonna stop and say that these teams are just horrible. i could think of a team of guys that didnt make it that could hang with the first team. NOBODY on that 3rd team has ever seen the day that they could compete with any of the guys i named.
  11. from what i heard its gonna be Bolivar if they do have that tournament. Ridgeway has had our number in the past when we played but its about time for that to change!
  12. Derrick Mason from Ridgeway is real good. like bigwebb said Jeremy Rhodes has great potential. he should be just as good for us as Olajuwon was this year plus he's got more range on his shot.
  13. they've some good bats its just the pitching that will be their downfall. if they had a Randy Johnson or Curt Schilling i think they could hang, but they dont.
  14. yea you got me on the Arod thing....long time ago i couldnt remember for sure so i just typed at anyway. now back to the subject, the A's have ONE pitcher that is considered in the same caliber as the big 3 you mentioned and thats Harden, he's a stud by the way, the rest of the guys are not supposed to be as good as Hudson or Mulder so you can try to tell that lie to someone else. Dotel a dominant closer? 2 weeks ago there were rumors that he was losing his closing job to Huston Street before Street imploded in the last few st games. Kendall hits for average but nothing else, he only had 3 or 4 hr's last year. and excuse me for saying 15 division titles about the Braves, i think thats how many they've won in all. i was just tryin to make a point my friend.......
  15. since we're all argueing about wether it should be Williams or Edwards(both wr's) with the first pick i just wanted to share something with yall that i read earlier. the last time Tennessee(not even in TN then i dont think) spent a first round draft pick on wr was in 98....they took the first wr of the draft and it was Kevin Dyson who hardly played this past season....the next wr taken was Randy Moss, probably the best wr in football. man i hope we dont do something like that this year. back to who the better wr is...Edwards is ranked higher on espn and got a grade of 99 which was the highest of any player and Williams got a 97. their knock on Williams is that he is gettin to big and my have to become a rb in the future. he weighs 230 and only run a 4.59...Edwards run a 4.45. sure Williams is 6'4 1/2 but Edwards is 6'3 which is still great size for a wr and appears to be the safer pick in the long run. i just hope we dont let another Randy Moss slip by.
  16. he's a not a power hitting stud like Pujols or anything but he's good all around. you can count on about a 280 ba, 35+ hr's, 100+ rbi's...thats solid power hitter numbers PLUS Beltran can flat out fly to go along with the bat. he stole 42 bases last year. he's one of the best defensive centerfielders as well. he's not the best hitter in baseball but he's solid all the way around. he's Arod with less power and more speed. yea of course he wont match his playoff numbers...he was making Barry Bonds look like a little girl scout with those numbers he was putting up in the postseason.
  17. you must not think Edawards is over 6'0...he's almost 6'3. Bennett showed last year he could be a go to go but on the other hand the secondary got torched all year...and that was when we had one of the best corners in the game.
  18. please enlighten me on how the A's got better??? what players did they add to make them a better team despite losing Hudson, Mulder, and Dye? the Braves have won 15 straight division titles, the A's 0...bad comparison in my opinion.
  19. Beltran was a stud all year not jut the playoffs, 38 homers in the regular season.
  20. if they do that i will NEVER watch the Titans again. catfish the only comparison i see between Edwards and Terrell is that they played for the same team. Edwards is bigger, quicker, stronger, and has better hands. alot of people on espn are saying that Edwards and Williams might not make it to the Titans, some even said Edwards might be the top pick if Rodgers and Smith dont impress the niners. im kinda hopin they are gone when their turn comes so they can take Pac-man, thats who they really need.
  21. i REALLY doubt Oakhill would be coming here to play any of those teams or any non TSSAA school for that matter. im having trouble believing this...if they are coming to play a tn team its gotta be an AAU team cause there arent but a few teams that could hang with them(none would win) and according to yall they cant play against TSSAA teams.
  22. Latroy Hawkins is the closer now. he was great when he was a setup man in Minnesota but last year the cubs tried to use him as the closer and it didnt work well...i guess they didnt learn their lesson. Borowski wasnt for sure gonna be the closer anyway, him and Hawkins were competing for it spring training. there are 2 closers on the block (Urbina in Detroit and Julio in Baltimore) and they havent made any offers so obviously they think they can make it with what they got. you're right though...their bullpen is very weak.
  23. ok i dont know how much more i can take.......Sanchez DOES NOT play in Detroit anymore. they cut him and the Devil Rays signed him. i forgot about the Twins as well but i still dont think they will win. if Justin Morneau is as good as he's supposed to be and Johan Santana is as good as he was last year they will be back...if not they are in trouble cause they dont have a great offense.
  24. oh but you did say they'd make it the Titans will win 10-12 games if people stay healthy. if injuries hit us like they did last year we will be sittin here again next year at this time talkin about who would should take with our top 10 pick. hate the Titans or not, you know that injuries killed them last season. as for the pick, i hope they dont take Mike Williams. am i the only person that remembers that this guy didnt play football last year. plus Edwards is quicker and more athletic, he isnt quite as big as Williams but he still has good size for a wr. the Titans already have big recievers they need a big play threat and that would be Braylon Edwards.
