  1. I agree 100% that a team should play to advance (within the ethics of the sport) , but not whatever it takes. What kind of message are we sending to the youth today? That it's ok to cheat !!!

I have a solution but it will never happen......Single Elimination...I mean how many chances does a team need to make it to the State. Using Single Elimination format anyone could lose on a given night.

I think the District-Region-Substate should be played like the State tourney. Win advance.....lose go home.

My favorite spectator sport.....NCAA College Basketball Tournament b/c there are always some small team upsetting a big team. It makes the game much more exciting.

I wish someone explain the positives of playing these tournaments like they do and not single elimination. I can probably guess one thing ...MONEY

i like the single elimination idea but we all know its about the money. so it will never happen!

  3. You can hear in the crowd at any given District tournament this week "If Team X can stay out of the bracket with Team Z then they have a better chance of making thru the Region tournament."

If one team can get into an "easier" bracket by losing instead of facing possible elimination by winning, is it ethical for a coach to help their team play "Not To Win". OR Is it a very strategic move to ensure advancing in the tournament by avoiding tougher competition?

Is there a difference between this and holding the ball an entire game to keep the score ridiculously low and close knowing that the stalling team is outmatched player for player and couldn't possibly win in a "normally played" game and must resort to a glorified game of "KEEP AWAY" (One game I recall like this was Gordonsville vs Smith County (boys) several years ago).

There is no rule in the book that says you must play to "WIN".

I am very interested in hearing EVERYONE'S viewpoint on this highly controversial topic!

  4. I'm talking about the Livingstons, Jacksons, Uppermans, Yorks, Clarkranges, teams that have earned respect for having success over a long period of time, but teams that aren't so far ahead of everyone else that their opponents have no chance, especially at this stage of the season.

well they have a chance until tipoff then it will be all down hill!! jc and clarkrange will win by 20 plus!! its just a fact that the girls teams down chatty in single A are weak unlike the boys teams which are always strong.

  5. westmoreland will be the only 8a team to win!! gordonsville maybe a slim chance with coach Agee he gets more out of less than anybody around but i think pc has to much talent for them!! the other game jc rolls by 25 or more and it will be a clarkrange and jc rematch in the finals!!! what is the deal with 7a going to 8a gyms 3 years in a row for the region?? is tssaa trying to help 8a out or what???

  6. Westmoreland has a really good team, but this is the year for them, but they are going to have to take it to another level to take on those two teams. Right now, I do not think they can beat Clarkrange or Jackson County. Everyone else in 7a they can get though. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

i agree 2 teams going to state and jc and clarkrange are it at this time

  7. That is true what you said. We just don't need to get overconfident and overlook any team that we play.

well i heard the lady devils will be playing the ne patriots in the first round of the mid-south /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> so something will have to give!!!! jc 54 ne 2 /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  8. Those Lady Buff's must have been pretty dang good for it to be a big deal they stopped a freshman last year. Well now she's a soph. with more talent around her. Basketball is TEAM. Jackson Co. is TEAM. There are alot of teams out there that couldn't overcome one player being shut down. JC doesn't have that problem. Good Luck JC and Miss LL. Pappi.

    JC by 9 jc 53 buffs 44

  9. Thats exactly what I said. There was a spotlight at RBS; not at Jackson County. There is more than one "over average" player at Jackson County. Read carefully before you try and make a smart elic reply. That being said, the matchups between these teams will be the biggest of the year by far.

NOT SMART... just spotlight dosen't win you games!!! and all players are not in it for the spotlights!! some look at the big picture.

  10. I don't know a whole lot about this situation, but from what I have heard, Leonard isn't the player everyone thought she was going to be. She had the spotlight at RBS which helped a lot, but now she has 2 or 3 other teammates who are just as good, if not better. Anyone have any stats or anything from previous games?

LOL...no you don't know much about it...their is no spotlight in JC thats the way it always have been even when Davidson was there!! who may have been the best all around player in the upper cumberland!! Leonard will have her big nights just like Dyer,Maxwell etc . that being said the 2 best teams and the 2 best coaches scrapping this early in the season!!!!! hope the first of several meetings this year.......

  11. For those of you that think we are going to lay down and let anyone, much less Clarkrange, put a whooping like some have suggested on here don't know much about the Lady Bulldogs. You may get the surprise of your life /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

wondered where the QUEEN had been... i see you still believe in the lady dogs but i have a feeling this game could get ugly!!! i just hope your tears dosen't flood RBS!!!

  12. if they are gonna beat LA nows the time.. talent level about even..pc a shot away last year from winning...but if pc plays like the last 2 games it will not happen... pc and white might have been the ugliest game i have ever seen!!

  13. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> Well I'm not good at reading between the lines, so I am assuming you don't know this: NEWS FLASH, JIM BROWN IS THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

EXACTLY and he runs the show!
