SH got buzzzzzed by Elizabethon. SH has descent pitching and will improve thru the year. Defense was fine in scrimmage. Reed is coaching. SH sticks were sleeping in the scrimmage (Betsy pitching helped with the sleeping).

I just wish for another 'good man' to take the helm. I have two more years and I'd like to see the Cyclones have a chance! They had the players the last two years. For the sake of the football program Pless should step down. We've gone south enough!!!

Funny u would say that. I just got off of the MLC All Conference thread where you were giving Smith some props. Maybe its a jealousy thing cause this kid has proved his worth all the way up. He is a true warrior which has been written on this site a bunch of times by several different people. HE sure would have helped your team cause they did block. Something he suffered with for two years at Elizabethton.

Preston, my son was honored to be on the practice field around you. The leadership you put out every day was something that will go along way with the underclassmen. As I said, you are a warrior and you took alot of bumps this year and stayed with it thru the whole season. Always upbeat and up to the battle every game. You played hurt and wouldn't rest. You are a true Cyclone and we are proud to have had you on the field representing Elizabethton. Some kind on kid!

No offense to acton....but he couldn't be put on the same field as Phillips, Thomas, or Smith.......

I agree with you. Acton was one of the best field goal kickers in the area though.

There are go getters out there but they are out there on their own. This team doesn't play inspired all the time. There are guys like 74 (my favorite), 8 (another trooper), 11, 52, 44, 41 and so and so that leave thier hearts on the field while a couple of seniors and a bunch of underclassmen cut up on the sidelines always letting someone else fight the battle for them. You watchit every game. The same guys and no one says a word to them. Im not talking about Price or 21 and a very few of the underclassmen,b ut most of them just want a uniform. Well u guys that lay it on the line u just keep doing that and you will be able to look back and be proud of what you gave to your team while the others play their game on Nintendo in shame. I hate to say it but change is coming. There is no way around it that I can see. By 09 maybe things will be back on track. Until then I am one to stand by the warriors of the Cyclones and am proud of them no matter what.

77 should be benched for countless personal fouls not to mention all the other penalties. He is an embarassment to the high school. There was several screaming at him this past friday. Enough is enough. You watch him come off the field and no one says anyting to him?? Surely they are not being taught to play that way? None of the other players do it.

FYI---I NOW KNOW THAT #77 IS ONE OF THE DIRTEST PLAYERS I HAVE EVER SEEN PLAY THE GAME. I DONT KNOW THIS KID BUT HE NEEDS TO GET HIS HEAD ON STRAIGHT AND COULD BECOME A GOOD PLAYER!

That is taking it easy on #77. My son tells me he has been the biggest problem player for the Cyclones all year but the coaches won't say anything to him. Like when he was pulled Friday night the line coach did not say a thing to him. Just watching tells alot. so if you wandr what kind of problems they have had this year, that tells alot. As far a linemen go #74 has been the most steady player for them all year and they just now found out how good he is on D.

Glee, This season shouldn't be on Preston's shoulders at all.

Good to see them pull a lineman for a mistake (#77) and that was a first. Should have happened in the DB game. #52 (?) who went in for him did the best blocking job for a lineman all year. Maybe move #77 to G and leave #52 at RT?? #74 was great on defense. Hes the best lineman for bEtsy by far.

Good first half but the Cyclones came out of the locker room flatern a doornail. Hate to say it but I hear some are getting a petition together for next weeks game. No need to explain what for.

South is a really good team but I"ll have to rank them right beside Johnson County in the way their defense played. You can figure that one out for yourself because there is no need for an explanation, is there? Hard hitting is one thing, but _______. Fill the blank in.

The obvious is the problem for the Cyclones. Yes, there are 4-5 contributors from last year who decided not to play but the problem is that an identity has failed to be established by the head man. I am against bashing the coaches but they seem to still be searching for what they want to do with the ball. At the same time, South seems to just have found themselves last week. Hopefully it will be a better game than most expect from the Cyclones. Just let the boys call the shots and let them have some fun. Hope everybody comes out in good shape on both sides. Once a Cyclone always a Cyclone and we will rise above all of this!

Volunteer is pretty bad. If EHS wants him they are just hiring his last name. He might be a good coach but he has no results in TN. If I was him I would not come. EHS should finally have an easy game tonight. If not then I will be speechless.

Your holding the truth RVD. You erased your post game thought and are stayin speechless. Seems like the team is ran by outsiders of the staff but close to the school and our team payed a dear price for it.

I've not heard anything but I'm not around the school much. I pick my kid up and leave. They should take a hard look at what is in front of them. Coach Calcagni who has more coaching and playing experience than anyone around here. Check him out on the NET. Some resume! He should be running the offense right now.

Versus any team the Cyclones will go as the line play lets them go. It has been that way all year and look at the record but they have had some tough teams. We shold have beat the Toppers and just flopped at Greeenville. They need to do some soul searching. I like what was written about gettin hit on the nose and what do you do? Its funny but true. Football is tough so get tough.

Ok. Anyone who knows me knows I HATE, I mean H-A-T-E Elizabethton and anything involved with Elizabethton aside from the band and the softball program... But, with that said, I actully, can't believe I'm going to say this, but I am actully sad to see the Cyclone football program in such sorry shape. Used to when they were good, it was fun to hate them. Say when they played Maryville that one time and that kid ran out of bounds, but the refs didn't call it. I'm sure you all remember that. But when that happened, all the Elizabethton people wee raising Cain, I thought that was hilarious. You know why? Because I love to hate the Cyclones. But now, you can't hate them, or even rout against them because you feel sorry for those kids..... GLee, your real smart and intelligent. Surely you understand what I am getting at???... Its like how a die hard UT fan LOVES to HATE Flordia. If Flordia $ucked, it wouldn't be any fun.

A petition got rid of school board members. Maybe its time to get one goin for a change of football coaches? Or I guess i'll have to watch this two more years. I don't know if I can take it. There was a day when kids transfered to Betsy for football and now they transfer out of here for sports. Maybe we'll get some baseball players cause what we have now is a baseball school Thats not bad but the players are here to be good in football. They need a coaching staff. GLee, I have to agree with you that the main reason for the under achievement of the Cyclones for the past few years must be a lack of discipline. And that has to come from the Head man. I won't lay it on all the coaches because I'm sure that we have some of the finest coaches around this area. I have been following this website now for a few years but this is my first post, I just had to say something because I hate the way we are heading as a football team. I blame coaching and not the kids I feel for the most part that they do their best but aren't prepared for Friday night.

It is a shame what is being allowed to happen to these boys. I agree with most of your post 1981. Smith get s killed on a regular basis and so do the rbs. I agree with glee that the ad should step in and maybe not think about waitin til next year. Pless ain't got his heart in it and the team is like him, soft wit no fire.
