1. Caleb Morgan to compete for Bryan College

Cleveland, TN - Bryan College added another area athlete to its men's roster when they signed Walker Valley High standout Caleb Morgan. Morgan was named to the Chattanooga Times Free Press Cross Country All Area Second Team for 2005. He holds school records in the 800 and 1600 meter runs for the Mustangs. Earlier this winter he set an indoor personal best with a 4:38.70 mile at the Niswonger Invite held in Johnson City, TN.

"Caleb has the talent and ability to train at high levels, which I believe will lead to a very successful collegiate career," said Head Coach Rodney Stoker. "Our program has made another step in the right direction in signing our second area standout. It was a pleasure recruiting Caleb, as he comes from a great family and is working with some great coaches at Walker Valley."

"Things are going incredibly well for Bryan Cross Country, in every aspect. We are in the process of adding indoor and outdoor track, which will give our athletes more opportunities to train and compete. Our alumni backing is tremendous which creates growth and development for our school and program. And our current student-athletes are making great strides in their academics and athletics," Stoker continued.

  3. I do give credit to the walker girl , She came in when it looked like the mustangs were about to get blown out and hit all those three's to bring it back to a closer game. I dont think the next round that the coaches will leave the girl unguarded, but who knew she would have that hot of a hand.

I KNEW..............................:thumb: Shes's always been a good shooter with a hot hand, just sometimes she doesn't get a chance to show it- you know its that whole "Role playing thing" but whatever helps your team. They all played great, from both teams. Very exciting! Glasner did do an excellent job coaching though- You have to hand him that. BC's defense was exceptional.

  4. So...................Is it Alverson or Iverson? LOL! Anyways- Everybody played great, everybody contributed, and I think everybody IS getting plenty of credit from what I have read so far. Brooke hamby gets my vote for coming off the bench and giving a big lift to turn things around! ;) Go Lady Mustangs! (Go Aly, Aly, Alyson)

The Best Teams Win Together, Lose Together, and NEVER Dawg each other!

(Don't worry about who gets what credit, My Daddy always said "If your good everybody will know it- you dont have to tell them about it!" )

  5. wow- I had no idea? when did this start? So can you just type names at random? I didnt even get it from the paper- it was in there but probably not exact words- I got it from another running website.

Can you post it then- on the front page with all the other newspaper articles?

  6. Lady Mustangs earn cross country championship

    Published November 01, 2005 11:08 AM EDT

Thursday proved to be a very productive day for Bradley County as all three local high schools advanced their entire girls cross country teams to compete in the TSSAA State Cross Country Championships Meet Saturday at Percy Warner Park in Nashville.

The Region Championships were held at the very difficult Chickamauga Dam course.

Moving up to the new AAA division proved to be no problem for the girls from Walker Valley who were crowned region champs placing four individuals in the top-10 with the top three teams in each division advancing and the top 10 individuals. Cleveland girls placed second and Bradley Central third.

Cleveland senior Tiffany Palmer won the individual girl's title with a time of 19:22, setting a new course record. Palmer held off Red Bank's Phoebe Wright by 15 seconds. Walker Valley junior Brittany Evans placed third with a time of 20:16.

On the boy's side, the teams weren't as fortunate but three individuals advanced.

Junior Matt Baltimore, from Bradley Central, won the boy's championship race with a new course record time of 16:12 beating out Red Bank's Steve Fassino, who was favored to win, by 20 seconds. Walker Valley's Caleb Morgan placed fourth with a time 16:45 and Cleveland's Jonathon Barrow placed seventh with 16:51.

  8. "It's according to what you feel like your bunch needs, and it's like the two McDaniel boys ran the 3,200 today and David got second," said Elizabethton coach Jim Presnell. "They're not 3,200 meter runners, but that was good strength work for them, and then the quarter -- well, they were over and under. The 800 meter is their best race."

Both Caleb and David are former 4x800 meter relay state champions, along with Josh Jaynes, who adds the extra punch to the awesome trio group.

"We've got three guys coming back from that relay team, and we're basically having tryouts finding that fourth guy," said Presnell. "My statement all the year has been those three guys are good enough to make you a state champion, so do you want to stand on the top of that platform with them, because they need somebody else. Just the three of them can't do it."

The Cyclones were successful in the men's 4x800 relay, with James Peterson assisting the team as the third man.

Elizabethton held on to defeat Dobyns-Bennett after lead-off runner David McDaniel stretched out an early lead.

Jaynes was able to extend on the advantage, with Peterson and Caleb McDaniel holding off the Indians' charge.

"We're just trying to work on our team, but I think we're doing well right now, and the coach knows what it takes for us to win," said Jaynes.

  9. Wow, you are right, i stand corrected, but then again I thought bowling was like the "WWE" with Vince McMahon and company, considered entertainment more than a sport, but hey i guess you got me! B)  Oh by the way wrestling is real you know! ;)  ;)

I thought you'd get a kick out of that one! :P Truth hurts sometimes- LOL! :)

  10. WV has never beaten us at anything no matter how many students they have or don't have.

    825614809

Walker Valley Girls 2004- 2005 Bowling State Champs! Im not sure what school you represent, I thought Jackson Co, it doesn't matter though............if its AA and your schoolhas a bowling team- then you were beat! If not, I apologise- thumb

  11. I don't think anyone really knows how WV would have been in AAA this year- Thats why they play the games..........................remember, if we could predict the wins there would be no reason to play. Maybe Coach T should do an assement combining all schools forgetting about classification since thats what seems to be going on here.

They might not be the best in AAA now, or next year for that matter, but there as good as some of the AAA teams that are already there- they've proved it. I don't hear anybody talking about how certain AAA teams wouldn't have made it out of Walker Valleys Region either (but basing on win losses and competition it looks that way)...........or maybe they would have... you never know, again .........thats why they play the games.

Everybody (from this town anyway- or at least one side of it) use to say Walker Valley was no good because they didn't play any competition, then they did start playing some better teams and even beating them, now its something else....................they should be in AAA,ya dee ah dee ah..... and if they were they would be 3rd in district, now I suppose next year if they did win district or region or whatever it will be something else- some people can't give any kids or coaches credit no matter what. I think everybody should worry about there own teams, and be proud of all the kids that work so hard to make their parents and schools proud no matter where they are, Its just a freakin game . In a couple of more years maybe less or more, it will all be over anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. In this particular situation I feel there is no advantage to Walker Valleys number of students, due to the fact that these are the same starters that have been there since the school had a smaller number of students 2 yrs ago. Adding the extra students that will move them to a AAA level has not changed the starting line up. There are no new Faces or Super Stars that have been added to the roster. By TSSAA standards and requirements they are LEGALLY still a AA school for the remainder of the school year, so with that said- GOOD LUCK LADY MUSTANGS!

Hope you can bring home the Gold Ball for Class AA- which is what you are!

  13. Walker Valley played the BEST I have seen them this year- They came out on fire, and played pretty consistent. This is their first trip to the Burro- Good Luck to the Lady Mustangs- I'll be there cheering you on!

    P.S.- Sorry the correct score was 62 - 40.

Hume Fogg players and crowd were very classy- Nice bunch of people- Sorry for your seniors, but they played hard. #30 is a tough player- hated to see her foul out, I know that is hard!

  14. Hume-Fogg by 13

Walker Valley doesnt have the experience and they have not faced top teams and extremely tough opponents like HFA has.

    825601877

Walker Valley starts 3 seniors who have all started since their freshman year, and a Junior point gaurd that has a ton of experience, and started since her freshman year- It should be a good game with a BIG ROWDY crowd supporting Walker Valley! I love Walker Valleys T-Shirts this year...........................................

    Woulda

    Coulda

    Shoulda

    Next Year is here!
